Chapter Text

Winding up his latest prize, turned out to be a vending ticket for a free fizzy drink, Gregory almost forgot that he was supposed to be scared. There were just SO MUCH of these surprise boxes around, it was hard to think he was not on a treasure quest to collect them all! Not to talk about the lost duffel bags. The boy may have been chilli at the start of the night, but now he was wearing a nice Monty face sweater. The rest of the treasure he found he kept in his new duffel bag that he did not stole, nope, founders keepers.

Only a few hours in this place and he was an expert at avoiding the security bots, he had not seen any of the Glam Gang recently either, not that he was complaining. He truly felt like he owned the place! Or he would if every turn of the hour, Moondrop (more like MOOD drop) wasn't creeping over his shoulder. But the moon animatronic never got too close, he was just... there. And Gregory did not know if that was worst than being chased, at least then he knew what his intentions where.

The small boy put his newfound treasure in his pocket, he would certainly use it later when he was thirsty. Gregory ran up to the fountain... or a fountain. Seriously why did the place need so many fountains? Anyway, he climbed up to the side, now he could see his surroundings better. He looked around and his eyes located two other mystery boxes and a duffel bag, that was odd, he could swear he had cleared this section already... He did not have the best eyes anyway and the constant neon lights sure did not help his eyes focus.

He ran to the duffle bag, having to stop at one point to let a security bot pass. He managed to get to it but it was on a half wall and quite hight actually. The lost boy used his skills to climb one of those fake plants. He sat on the top of the half wall, he was even higher than on the fountain, he noted the new scouting point on his fazz map. He quickly opened the bag, then, but before he could see what was inside he heard something falling to the floor. His head snapped to the source of it: A security bot had ran over one of the 'cautions' bots. After that small shot of adrenaline he looked in the bag: it was Roxanne wolf cap! Gregory put it on his head and made sure nothing else was in the bag.

Then he looked around his new perch, standing up to get a better view. He still saw the two presents, but then he saw a new one near the fountain he was just at. Gregory could not help but smirk, those things were like easter eggs, they just kept popping up. The boy expertly got down holding his new cap so it would not fall and kept his chase going.

Near the fountains, kneeling behind the wall of it, was one Roxanne 'Roxy' Wolf, she crept he head out, just enough to see Gregory going the opposite direction of him. Damn that kid was fast, she could barely keep up whit him while also not making any sounds. Animatronics where heavy by design, so that their footing could be heard from far away, It was a miracle neither of them messed up, or at least until Monty hit one of the 'caution' bots whit his tail. It was purely by chance that a security bot ran into it right after, preventing Gregory to suspect anything. If she could she'd smack him on the head for that.

Monty was hiding in the fake plants, using his colour scheme to his advantage. Gregory even ran right in front of him without problem. The gator was stiff like a statue, his non-existent heart skipping multiple beats when the child came so close to him. He was holding a duffle bag, the last one he had, now he would probably have to wait a while before placing it since Gregory was now on edge. But from his spot he had first class at seeing the boy open one of the mystery presents, he saw the smile when he discovered the Frozen Freddy Treat inside and then happily putting it in his mouth. Monty would also smile if he could, while still a pang of regret. Maybe they where giving him too many treats, he could get sick. Kids never knew when to stop eating sweets. But how suspicious it would be if they just put an apple in there. Maybe a candy apple? Did they even have those?

The gator watched the kid take the other two presents, when he got to the fountain one he could see Roxanne was currently sneaking away into one of the nearest stores. Her eyes never left sight of the boy, she looked almost like a predator, but Monty could clearly see there was no intent to attack. They both watched as Gregory looked around, swiping the area one last time for presents and then started walking to the stairs, leaving the area.

Both animatronics let out breaths, mechanical ones.

They got out of their hiding spots when they were sure Gregory could not hear their loud footsteps.

When they joined Roxanne immediately smacked Monty on the back of the head, not hard but enough to get her point across.

"What where you doing?!" She hissed

Monty rubbed the back of his head whit guilt. "I thought there was time, yo." He defended himself poorly.

Roxanne singed a flipped her hair backwards. "Just be glad he did not see you."

They moved pass the incident and started to walk toward the stairs as well. Monty placed his last duffle bag on a bench on the way.

The two animatronics did their best not to get noticed by the child, who they were sure would freak out if they just walked up to him. It was clear by the way he jumped at every sound that he was scared, so the animatronics made it their mission to keep the child distracted until he either fell asleep from exhaustion or until the door reopened. They would have let Sunrise and Moondrop take care of it if it was not for the fact that Gregory seemed to avoid the daycare at all cost.

So... After Monty realized the kid seemed obsessed whit mystery boxes and duffle bags, he was opening every. single. one. They started placing more around the pizza plex and the child seemed to have for goal to collect them all.

The plan was going surprisingly well until Gregory found some boxes that none of them placed. And what was in them sure was disturbing.

A used bandaid. There was some blood on it.

A bunny mask. One that did NOT belong to the pizza plex.

A vintage poster whit 'HI' written whit a purple marker.

And it kept happening.

Those where few and far in between but the animatronics felt something was not right. Freddy and Chica where looking around, hopping to catch a potential intruder while Monty and Roxanne kept a close eye to the kid, making sure nothing happened to him.

They may be the better choice for protection, Monty being the strongest and Roxy having special eyes, but they where not that great at sneaking around. They still got the job done, albeit with a lot of effort.

Roxanne could still see the small form of Gregory running around. It was hard to loose him when he moved so much. They found no sign of an intruder, except the gifts of course.

They heard a scream and a whimper. It was not a big one like in the horror movies, it was small and surprised and disgusted. And I, without a doubt, came from Gregory.

The animatronics tensed, fighting the urge to just run over there. Instead Roxy focussed her vision on him. He was alone, that immediately calmed her down, but he was scrambling away from an open mystery box. Roxanne had to stop Monty for jumping into action, reassuring him (even if it was not by much) that Gregory must have found another 'rogue' mystery present.

She watched as he rushed to get up, still making more space between him and the box before sprinting into one of the stores. The child was clearly spooked, whit the other presents he had been weirded out but never scared like this. The animatronics walked up to the box, Roxanne making sure to keep her eyes on Gregory, now hidden behind a counter trying to breathe, as Monty inspected the 'present'.

Monty's eyes widened and he had to step back and do a double take before he tapped Roxy's arm. "Is this what I think this is?" he asked her as he pointed to the box.

Roxanne looked... and her circuits ran cold.

Inside the box, bloodied and wet, were Rabbits paws. Four of them.

Laying in a dried puddle of blood. They where fresh.

But the most disturbing was the written message. Messy letters, readable but it was clear no sane person would writhe this.

-Good luck Gregory-
Heart
-Vanny

If she could Roxy would have gagged.

There was a psycho inside the Pizza Plex. And it was after Gregory.

It was after Gregory

Roxy and Monty started to panic. The wolf animatronic returned her eyes to locate Gregory.

He was not there.

She looked away for a second and he was not there.

"Monty! I- I can't see him! He left!" She told Monty as she looked around frantically. "We have to find him!"

Monty, in a similar state as she, nodded. "Ok ok ok, not cool not cool. Where did you see him last?????" He tried to keep his head clear, but it was hard as a sudden buzz had overtaken him.

"In the store. He-he was hiding behind the counter." They rushed to the counter. There was no sign of him.

The store had stairs that lead down, that could have been the only way Gregory left without them seeing. They rushed downstairs. And they froze as they saw Gregory's duffle bag laying at the end of it. Whit it his Roxanne wolf cap. The wolf animatronic could not stop staring at it.

Gregory would not have left those. He- he-

Monty's visor glitched, and he had to lean on the wall not to lose his balance. "Roxy, s-something is wrong." He said.

Roxy snapped her attention to him. And immediately saw that his eyes where changing colours. Switching to red and brown as Monty's head twitched. The gator animatronic pointed over Roxanne's shoulder.

She looked back and saw a Bunny. Its skin was dirty grey and its face looked exactly like the Rabbit mask Gregory found earlier. It was just standing there, hand before her fake smile silently giggling.

Roxanne did not think and lunged at her, fangs and claws in tow. She ran on four legs like the wolf she was and growled.

She was about to jump at rip that fucking rabbit's head off but she had to stop as she brought Gregory in front of her. She had hidden him behind herself.

She was toying whit them.

The boy had tears in his eyes and he was being held by the neck. A rope around it that was surely chocking him every time he tried to move. The poor boy whimpered when he saw Roxanne. The Rabbit chuckled.

"Aww, are you mad I took your toy?" She tug at the rope making the boy whimper again. Roxanne growled and took a step forward, but the rabbit warned her. "Come close and I break his neck" She said in her ever cheerful voice tilting her head and laughing. "That would be bad right? You don't wan't that, don't you?" She said in a baby voice, talking right beside the boy's ear as he trembled.

Roxanne froze, whit Monty in an unknown state and Gregory as a hostage, she could not do anything.

The rabbit and the fox kept staring at each other as the menace started walking backward toward the elevator. For every step she took, Roxanne took one forward, keeping the distance between them the same.

The door of the elevator opened and the rabbit pulled the rope behind her and made Gregory fall into it whit a choked yelp. Roxanne ran after them, but the rabbit simply stepped back into the elevator as the door closed. The last thing Roxanne saw was her waving at her before she crashed into the elevator door.

She had to get Gregory. She will! SHE HAD TO SAVE HIM.

Roxanne howled, it sounded like a song but she knew it was heard everywhere in the Pizza Plex, alerting every bot that she needed help.

Chapter Text

Freddy and Chica stopped everything they did as they heard their friend's howl echoing in the halls.

Something was wrong and they needed to get to her now.

The duo rushed trough the Pizza Plex, probably running faster than they where designed to. Leaving a few cracks on the marble floor as they pounded forward.

They reached her, ready to act against anything or anyone even if their programming was against it. Roxanne, who had stopped howling at that point, was trying to calm both herself and Monty down. The latter was currently pounding at the elevator door. Freddy stepped forward.

"Roxanne, what happened?!" He demanded, still on guard. Chica followed him, looking at Monty whit worry.

The wolf animatronic barked at them. "SHE TOOK THE KID. SHE TOOK HIM AND MONTY IS BREAKING THE ELEVATOR TO GET TO HIM!" She growled as she put her arms around Monty's waist and pulled, but the Gator barely budged.

Without words Chica ran to them and tackled her friend. Whit the sudden force and whit Roxy hold on him they managed to pin him to the ground. "LET ME GO" He snapped at them. The Gator struggled and Chica moved under him and put a arm under his arm and one around his neck, placing him in a secure choke hold.

Freddy went to them. "Sorry buddy, but not until you calm down!" Chica stated, with every intention to keep that promise.

Roxy left her position on the ground and rushed to the elevator pressing the button. She was relieved as the doors opened. She stepped inside, Freddy right behind her.

"What are you doing?" He asked her. "Who took him?" He was getting worried as he looked back to Monty, who was still trashing on the ground, thankfully Chica had him under control.

"Rabbit lady took the kid! Monty is in no state to help and there's no time! SHE IS GOING TO KILL THE KID!" She yelled, jamming her hand on the side of the elevator in anger and frustration.

There was no time to talk! She had to go! NOW! She went to press the elevator button but Freddy stopped her. She glared at him in anger. "Freddy move." She warned, showing her fangs.

There was a tense moment, it lasted only a fraction of a second but it felt like forever. Chica's voice broke the spell.

"You guys go ahead! I'll take care of Monty and we'll join you." Freddy looked back at her. Chica nodded "GO!" Roxanne took the opportunity and slammed the button and the doors closed, thankful for her friend's awareness of the urgency of the situation. They did not have a moment to lose.

It would only take a moment to kill a child.

Chica kept her hold on Monty, "You're stuck whit me big guy." She teased. Monty kept moving his head up and down, making nonsense noises. If Chica was not placed the way she was, she worried her friend would be pounding the back of his head into the floor. That was not a good thing, animatronic or not.

The chicken animatronic started talking, rambling really, trying to distract Monty from whatever was happening in his head. If it worked whit kids, why not a super advanced A.I.?

This went on for several, long, painful minutes. Monty calmed down, he stopped fighting, but it was clear he was not back yet. He did not talk. Chica was not sure if he was listening to her about the different kinds of pasta they served in the pizza plex or something, but rambling also calmed herself down. She did not know what was happening, but she knew a child was in danger and as soon as Monty was ok, they would join the others to save him.

She stopped talking when she heard Monty groan. "W-what happened?" His voice was rough, Monty always had the most gruff voice box of the gang, but right now it sounded almost damaged. "Chica?" He lifted his head to meet her eyes. They where half open, still their deep brown.

"Are- Are ya fine now?" She asked him, not letting her grip loosen yet.

"Yea, sure i'm-" His eyes opened fully and he almost started trashing again but Chica kept him from moving. "Where's Roxy?! It was a- a- a- a rabbit thing! And it took the kid!" He looked around and his eyes stopped at the elevator, remembering what happened. "We need to go!" He tried to get up but Chica held him down. "Chica! Let me go!" He was starting to get frustrated.

"Not until you promise me ya ain't gonna do anything stupid!" Chica looked at him, serious. "There's a kid's life on the line! Can you tell me you won't just go berserk like ya did now?" She asked him.

Monty's mouth opened. "I did not meant to-" He pleaded but Chica cut him off.

"Don't matter if ya meant or not, bud'. The fact is ya did." She started" Now, can ya? Cuz I sure ain't going to let ya into the fray if you're gonna be more trouble that ya wroth." She knew she was harsh, but it's not like they had a second chance at this, contrary to animatronics, when kids die they stay dead... usually.

A moment passed before Monty answered. "Yes, yes I can." He tried to move up again. "Now will you let me go?!" Chica released him trowing her arms up, satisfied by her friend's state. She stood up with him, now focusing on the action.

"They went up the elevator, told em' we'd catch up. Ya ready?" She asked. Monty clashed his fist together, mind clear.

Meanwhile whit Freddy and Roxanne. Things are not looking up.

Still in the elevator, Roxanne felt like it was slower than usual.

Faster, go faster!

Freddy, who was at the back, followed her movement whit his eyes. He knew they had to hurry, but nothing good would come out of this if he did not have a clear head. To be honest Freddy was terrified, he failed to locate the intruder and now it (she?) a crazy person in a rabbit suit (he recalled from Roxanne's yelling) had taken the kid, and was threatening to kill him. He did his best not to be angry at himself, as a leader, he was the one that decided who was going to stay whit the kid, he decided not to confront him on the risk of freaking him out. He replayed alternative scenarios, what if he done this? Or that?

But he knew those though where just distracting him from the present, what happened happened and now he had to act accordingly. He would eat himself up about his mistakes later. Because that is what leaders did.

"Roxanne-" Her friend's head snapped to him. "What did the rabbit look like?" He asked.

"What?" She looked angry and confused. What did that have to do whit anything? Was he trying to distract her?

"Was it tall, small? Did it have any weapons? It was human? If we're going to do this I'd like to know what we're facing." He calmly replied. Roxanne was going to fast, she needed to think, to slow down. Just because she was used to rush on the tracks did not mean she could not think this trough.

Roxy paused, looking to the side. "She had a rope around the kid's neck, no doubt human, otherwise I would have seen her coming..." She paused turning away from Freddy, head low "He looked so scared, Freddy... And I just- I didn't do anything. I should have-" She choked on her words. She felt Freddy's hand on her shoulder, she looked up at him.

"Don't think like that, I know you did all you could... Now we need to focus on getting him back." He assured her. "And we will succeed." He said as the elevator's door opened.

They looked out into the hall, the lights were on and it was silent. It was frightening. Freddy clenched his fists. "Let's go."

--

Gregory was scared, but the initial shock had mostly passed. He reprimanded himself for crying so much, he wasn't a baby! The rabbit lady had led him to a dark lid room, tugging at the rope around his neck if he did not keep up. She was dancing and singing and laughing when he tried to free himself, that only resulted with his hands being tied as well.

He tough about Roxanne, the wolf animatronic, she had tried to save him! He was sure of it! And when he heard her howl, it made him feel brave. He was going to get out of this! He just needed an opportunity. He could head butt her and run back to the elevator... but she would probably just catch him again... Still maybe he could buy himself some time.

They stopped walking, right in front of a metal door. The rabbit lady turned to face him, or to look behind him, he could not tell where she was looking at. Her big lifeless red eyes send shivers in his spine. She tilted her head and placed one finger on her cheek. "Oh, this just wont do now will it?" Gregory was not sure if she was talking to him or herself, and for a moment he feared she could read his mind. "Come on Gregory." She pouted, like a kid that as just been told that playtime was over.

She kicked the door open and tug on his rope. He choked and hurried to follow. He walked into a staircase, the wall were covered in tags and names. Gregory looked at the stairs, he- he could shove her down the stairs! His hopes where short lived as he felt cold metal on his throat. His eyes widened, knowing that could only be the blade of a knife... and he felt it cut skin.

No, no. no. no. no. NO! HE DID NOT WAN'T TO DIE!

"NO" He yelled.

And whit despair and a will to live and GET OUT OF THIS PLACE. He lunged his head backwards, the lady did not hold him strong enough and he managed to hit her in the mask, making it slide ever so slightly.

It was enough to temporally blind his attacker, who was trying to stab him blindly wile replacing her mask, letting go of the rope. Gregory jumped to the side just as the knife slid, missing his neck but cutting deeply his arm. He let out a yelp and fell to the ground, he scrambled backward until he reached the wall.

"Aww, you naughty boy." The rabbit said, he mask back in position. "You're making this difficult." She cooed, like a psycho. She started walking toward him casually. Not even raising her knife.

THUD THUD THUD THUD

Gregory and the Rabbit both looked at the door, momentary distracted my the sound. A glimmer of hope set itself in Gregory's heart.

Vanny replaced herself in a defensive position as the door flung open, revealing two pissed animatronics who looked nothing but heroic whit the light from the hall illuminating them.

Time slowed. Roxanne took one look at them and placed herself in between Vanny and Gregory, growling. Freddy, slower in his reaction time, blinked. Then he frowned and lunged forward, fist raised up and punched Vanny down the stairs. She actually flew and hit the wall before falling to the ground a couple meters below, immobile. Freddy dealing with Vanny, that left Roxanne to turn toward the child. She quickly looked him over.

He was breathing hard and fast, there was a small red cut on his throat and a bigger, deeper one on his arm. There was tears in his eyes, but they were from relief more than fear. The wolf animatronic raised her hands up, to show she was not a threat, knees bent and head low she spoke to him. "It's ok. We're here to help." She slowly walked up to him and cut the rope around his wrists.

What she did not expect was the child jumping to hug her as he cried and whispered thanks against her shoulder. She hugged back.

She looked back and saw Freddy smiling at her.

"Well that just won't do." Said the still limp form of the rabbit. The animatronics snapped their attention to her, Roxanne picking up the small child in her arms, one hand on his head.

The rabbit's eyes started glowing red. Panic built up in Roxy's throat as she looked over at Freddy. His eye started flickering between red and blue. He hissed and held his head in his hand. "What the-"

Roxy backed up to the door, almost knowing what would happened. The lady's body stood back up, limbs raising like they where pulled by tread. Head still limp she spoke. "That won't do at all." She almost sang. Freddy went still, eyes closed.

He stood back up, but before he even opened his eyes Roxanne bolted out. Running to the elevator. She did not know what was happening, but if Freddy was loosing control like Monty had... She hoped her gator friend went back to normal.

She was faster than Freddy and that is probably what saved her as she saw Monty and Chica in the elevator. "STAY BACK" She shouted. Her friends froze and she could hear Freddy running after her. "Kid, get ready i'm about to trow you ok?" She told the child as she ever slightly slowed down "MONTY CATCH!" She yelled as she yeeted the child into the elevator. She saw Monty catch him clumsy, making him fall backwards. "SHE TOOK CONTROL OF FREDDY! YOU GUYS GET BACK DOWN!" She ordered. Chica immediately pressed the elevator button and nodded.

"Good luck." Is the last she heard from her friend as she turned, grounding herself as she saw Freddy run into her. She ducked at the last moment, grabbing her friend and leader by the waist. She used the momentum to make him take off the ground and as she straightened her legs and bended her spine backward she managed to flip him. She kept going until she heard Freddy's head crash into the floor. Roxanne stayed still a moment, until Freddy grabbed her hair pulled, hard. It did not hurt but she still hissed. Freddy started to kick his feet, trying to get upright again.

She let go letting him flip on his back, the wolf animatronic did not waste time and she spun toward the elevator. Toward the raising form of Freddy. She put her fist in front of her, a fighting stance. Freddy turned to her, red eyes making him unrecognizable. "I don't wan't to hurt you Freddy." She warned.

In response, Freddy cracked his neck. Roxanne smirked nervously "Don't be mad if I scrap you, alright teddy bear?" She knew the nickname probably didn't go trough, but she felt a bit of nagging was necessary. He'd probably not even remember this... hopefully.

Freddy placed himself in a similar position as her. Fists up, knees bent. There was a moment of silence. Both waiting for who would make the first move. Roxanne's attention snapped as she heard cheering from behind her.

"Fight! Fight! Fight! Rip her apart Freddy! WooooOO!" Vanny cheered. And that Freddy scared her up in the jaw.

Fuck- that did hurt.

Roxanne jumped back before Freddy punched again. She bent down as Freddy kicked where her head had just been. She spun and tried to swipe Freddy's leg out. He saw it coming and jumped. Swearing she stood up and managed to lend to direct hits to Freddy's front hatch, cracking it slightly. Freddy jumped back and then forward again and punched. Quickly she dodged each hit and waited for an opening. She saw it when Freddy tried to do a right hook, the wolf leaned her upper body backwards at the same time she flung her leg up, landing a power full kick to his side, he cracked again. She hissed for his friend, that was going to be a pain to repair.

Roxanne heard Vanny booing them from the back, ordering Freddy to kick her into the mud. She rolled her eyes. Fucking annoying.

She jumped back, not quit managing a hit from Freddy. She felt her shoulder pan fly off. Ouch. That psycho bitch was distracting her. She jumped back again, leaving a bit of space between them, so she could think. But that meant she was closer to Vanny and that gave her a headache.

Freddy's eyes changed red when the rabbit's eyes glowed. Freddy jumped to her and punched, Roxanne dodged whit ease. She was more focused on the defence now. Thinking back... her eyes were also glowing when Monty went berserk. She had to destroy the mask then. No glowing red eyes for anyone.

She jumped back to dodge a high kick, she was also closer to Vanny... Cheering as Freddy kept taking more ground.

She really had a headache. But I guess she had to bear whit it, she had a plan now.

"That's all you got?!" She teased, more at Vanny than her actual opponent. "Come on!" She shouted.

That seemed to do the trick as Freddy launched a series of punch, she dodged them all, consciously walking back but and to block a high kick whit her forearm. The plastic cracked and she felt her exoskeleton bend. Freddy may be slower than her but his punches where unforgiving. She hissed, now she could see the rabbit in her peripheral, she was almost there.

'Don't rush this, Roxy.' she breathed 'this isn't a race.' She reminded herself. 'You're the best, you can do anything.'

She shoved Freddy's leg away and jumped back. She was close enough now!

Before Freddy could jump to catch her she spun around and sprinted for Vanny. She was only a few meters away, she jumped claws forward, letting out a feral growl. The rabbit did not even have time to blink before she was pinned down, Roxy's claws digging into the mask as she was crushed under the animatronic's weight. She felt her ribs crack, but Roxanne could not care less.

She managed to make a few noticeable cracks in the mask, but the eyes were still glowing as she felt a hand around her neck. She did not gasp or stoped her task as Freddy pressed harder, putting his second hand in it too. She did not need to breathe but she knew Freddy was strong enough to rip her head off.

She ignored the Rabbit's laugh, crazy wheezing laugh. Roxanne kept all of her focus on the mask as the cracks multiplied and the eyes finally started to flicker. She realized some of the cracking noised came from her, Freddy kept his handle strong as he pulled.

Roxanne yelled, doubling her efforts. The mask finally FINALLY snapped in half, the eyes stopped glowing and the rabbit stopped breathing. She felt relived, even as Freddy, still affected by whatever that mask did to his program, pulled harder.

It had taken a while for Monty to calm down, after all, even after the mask was far away... She did not expect Freddy to immediately regain control.

She put her hands to her neck, trying to delay as much as she could the inevitable. Sparks came from her joints. She howled as her voice box started to be crushed. The others would be fine, Freddy would be back to himself and Gregory would be safe. It was fine now to tell them to get to her.

She would be rebuilt, if not by the staff then by Freddy himself. That bear had such a big heart... killing- deactivating her would break him. It would also break Chica... Monty would take care of them, he did that like the emotional support animatronic that he was.

She would be fine..

Even if it hurt like hell.

Chapter Text

The first thing she felt was someone holding her hand. The second was a small weight leaning against her side.

Her eyes shot open but she stayed still as the last minutes before she was out replayed in her head. She squeezed her hand, someone squeezed back.

Freddy he- But she got the mask. He would be fine. He must have been fine.

Because she woke up.

Gregory!

She lifted her head and saw two things. The first was Chica, who was looking at her as she held her hand and Gregory… She immediately relaxed, he was curled up against her, sound asleep. She watched him breathe a few times before looking back at her friend, asking the silent question.

Chica smiled at her. “You took a while too reboot, we all got a little worried.” She explained.

Gregory had been worried about her? He had no need to, she was the best! Of course she would have come back. Still, the thought made her feel warm. She reached for his head with her free hand and brushed his hair soothingly.

“I assume he was not too freaked out?” She smiles.

Chica chuckled nervously. “Oh no, he was, like, totally freaked out. But he was more freaked out by the almost dying part and the you dying part, ya know?” That made Roxy tense up again. Had Gregory seen her after Freddy ripped her head out? But Chica was quick to reassure her.

“Don’t worry, honey, he didn’t nothin he wasn’t supposed to.” She smiled but frowned. “How you feeling, hon?” She asked the wounded wolf. Roxy let her head fall back against the table. She was not sure about that herself to be honest.

Sure it was not the first time she had been damaged to the extent of passing out. But it was the first time another animatronic was the reason why. And Roxy was sure that her friend was asking more about that particular aspect of the situation than anything.

Against her better judgment she answered honestly. “I let him do it, Chica. I had to. It was either that or risk the rabbit’s mask keeping control over him.” She justified herself.

Chica took her hand with both of hers, disturbed.

The chicken animatronic, more than anyone else in the group, had the most experience with bad habits that ended up damaging her… She ate trash, to put it lightly. But really she would eat anything that fit in her beak. It always ended in harsh talks, program revision and bi-weekly washes. She could not help it, and no one knew why. All she felt in those moments is that she had to. So hearing her friend saying she had to let Freddy rip her head off… It worried her.

“Promise me you will never do that again.” She lost her accent as she asked Roxy, staring into her eyes.

Roxy looked away, “I won’t, I promise.” A white lie. They both knew she would let it happen in a heartbeat if she believed it was necessary. Thankfully, Chica dropped it.

Then the door opened in a loud BANG. Startling them both and waking the small kid.  Roxy was also mostly disturbed when a weeping Freddy came running to her side.

“Roxyyyyyyy.” He sobbed. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean toohoohohoo.” He howled as he hugged her awkwardly.

Roxy tried to push him off of her. “Freddy let go! You’re giving me cooties!” She growled. She heard Chica chuckle at the sight of their ferocious leader lamenting over her. “It isn’t funny Chica! Watch it! You’re going to crush Gregory if you aren’t careful!” She twisted over and tried to kick him off.

That’s when Monty came running into the room panting and grabbed Freddy from behind. “Sorry lads, he got away from me for a second.” He put his head near the bear’s ear. “Come one you big baby, they were having a moment!” He reprimanded his friend as he pulled him away from her. He managed to pull him to the door but Freddy grabbed the frame and locked his arms.

“No! I’m staying! Monty!” He said like a petulant toddler. Roxy always managed to forget how much of a goofball he became sometimes. The bear always waited until the waters were clear to let out his own tsunami of emotions. Emotions he successfully locked away and hidden from everyone until now.

It was so bizarre that Roxy could not help herself. She laughed. And a real, loud one. She laughed hard, pointing a finger at Freddy. “You’re such a goofball, Freddy I swear.” Chica joined her and the sounds seemed to calm Freddy down.

Gregory just sat there, not really understanding why it was so funny. But he joined them when Freddy let his grip on the door frame waver. Enough so that Monty yanked him out of there and they ended on the floor one atop of each other.

After recovering from the slight dizziness, the two boys joined the laughs as well.
