Prince of Frost

Summary:

Wizard was gifted with great powers, like the rest of his family. Although when he goes to search for the Frost Queen to help fully control them, things start to go down hill. Maybe it was best just to stick with what he had?

A rework of my Ice!AU. It has an actual storyline now and it's full of hurt. If you can't tell by the tags I plan this to be very sad so be warned. Good luck :)

Chapter 1: Young Wizard

Chapter Text

I remember when my ability first popped up vividly. I was four and looking out the window at the snow falling, it was one of the first times I’d ever watched it fall with my own eyes. I suddenly felt the windowsill go cold and looked down to see it covered in frost. I quickly set my hand on the wall to keep my hand from getting cold, then I saw it frost up as well and I realized the frost was coming from me.

I started to cry because I thought I’d be in trouble. My mother heard me crying and rushed in as soon as possible. I tried to hide the frost as best I could, this being tossing a small blanket over the windowsill and hiding the wall with a curtain. My mother came into the room confused, I was still crying.

“What’s wrong Wizard?” she asked, I shook my head to say that there was nothing wrong. She noticed the blanket on the windowsill and picked it up, and then noticed the frost. I started crying harder because I was caught but she just laughed.

“Aw, bud it’s ok!” She told me. “Your father kept telling me there was a reason you’re named Wizard, huh?” She picked me up and hugged me, I refused to touch her out of fear of getting frost on her.

“Hey,” she said. “It’s ok, Daddy has the same power. He can teach you how to use it.”

Years later we were almost certain that since I had the power to manipulate ice, my brother would have something similar. Sure enough, when he turned four Snow Sugar rushed to my mom excitedly and held out a living snow sculpture of a bird. It startled my mother so much she had to take a second to calm down before congratulating Snow Sugar on making the bird.

I was trained how to use and control my abilities by my father for years, I never fully was able to stop freezing things so I came up with the idea to wear gloves if we were going anywhere for an extra measure of safety. Luckily, Snow Sugar didn’t need to take as much training. I later on met my friends and we one day decided it was a great idea to embark on an adventure to meet the Frost Witch, thinking maybe she could help me control my powers. We were 13 at the time, and it was our goal to go on that adventure.

Once we were adults (and acquired a ten-year-old boy who decided he wanted to join us), we set out on that very adventure.

That led me to the greatest mistake I ever made.
