Work Text:
“Do you like raisins?” Kim asked suddenly.
Max looked up in confusion. “That was random. I don’t mind raisins, but there are definitely nicer fruits out there.”
“How do you feel about dates?”
“They’re disgusting.”
Kim’s face fell and he walked back to his seat next to Alix on the other side of the dining hall, handing her €10 before sitting down.
“I told you, he’s completely oblivious,” Alix laughed.
Max looked back to the code displayed on his laptop screen, trying to shake the strangeness of the interaction from his mind, and focus on the upgrade he was planning for Markov.

“Hey, Max, if you were a chicken, you’d be impeccable.”
“Kim, you really need to work on your puns.” Max walked off, heading to his next class.
“Oh come on ,” Kim whined, as Alix stood behind him bent double from laughter.

“Max, come here.”
“What is it this time, Kim,” Max sighed good-naturedly.
“Feel my shirt.”
“What?” Max's brow furrowed.
“Feel my shirt.”
“Okay…?”
“Guess what it’s made of? Boyfriend material.” Kim said, clearly pleased with himself.
“Actually, it’s made of cotton.”
“Are you kidding me?”
“What’s wrong, Kim?”
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing,” Kim said through gritted teeth.

Kim had spent all weekend looking up and memorising pick up lines, hoping to finally find one that Max would understand. He walked up behind Max, took a deep breath and tapped on his shoulder.
“The two of us would go together like Hydrogen and Oxygen.”
Max’s head shot up from whatever he was working on.
“Was that…a pick up line?”
“Finally!” Kim threw his hands up in the air in triumph.
“Huh?”
“Max, I’ve been flirting with you for like…three months. I cannot believe that all I had to do for you to realise was talk science.”
“Well-”
“Considering you’re a genius, you really are oblivious sometimes,” Kim laughed.
“Shut up,” Max said, obviously struggling not to laugh.
“Wanna go see a movie with me?”
“Yes,” Max answered, a little too quickly.
Later, Alix could be seen handing Kim €10.
