Work Text:

Kiyoomi has always felt comfortable in the Miya house.

The first time he had stepped into the house, he had been welcomed by music, the smell of a good dish simmering and Atsumu’s mom hugging him tightly, saying how happy she was to “finally meet Tsumu’s Omi-kun”.

Since then, he has always found a way to come to Atsumu's monthly visit to her mother and according to his boyfriend she was excited to have Kiyoomi in her home for family traditions.

And Christmas was one of them.

The little family was sitting at the living room table, finishing the dessert he and Atsumu had brought and lovingly prepared, all chatting and laughing together and Christmas songs were playing in the background. Sometimes, Atsumu would look at him and sing along to the cheesy lyrics.

“All I want for Christmas is you,” he sang with a smile that Kiyoomi thought could light up the world. It was already illuminating his own.

Kiyoomi took Atsumu's hand and kissed it before bringing their intertwined fingers to the table, his thumb gently running in small circles on the back of his lover's hand.

Mama Miya saw this small gesture and smiled at them. Kiyoomi wasn’t ashamed to publicly display his affection for his boyfriend. He never had been. How could he ever be ashamed to love Atsumu? He smiled back at her.

Osamu and Suna laughed at them, purposely singing out of tune and looking at each other intensely. Kiyoomi snorted. As if they weren't as in love as they were, he thought. Well, maybe they were more discreet than they were, he had to admit.

"It's getting late boys, let's open the presents!" the twin’s Ma said excitedly, probably to stop the inevitable bickering that was going to happen between her sons. She clapped her hands and pushed everyone towards the sofa and the Christmas tree.

Once they were all seated, Kiyoomi stood up and asked if he could say a few words before everyone opened their presents.

“Of course, baby,” Atsumu said, curious as to what his boyfriend might say.

"Okay," Kiyoomi said, clearing his throat. "I wanted to thank you all for letting me into your home, into your family. I don't want to break the mood but I don't have the best relationship with my own family. We are all very distant from each other and we don't have family traditions like you do. It may sound silly, but, for instance, before I met Atsumu, I'd never wore an ugly Christmas jumper. I am forever grateful to you for welcoming me with open arms, quite literally, into your life,” he paused.

“It’s a pleasure to have you around Kiyoomi, you know that my door will always be open for you,” Mama Miya said, gently smiling, meaning every word.
“Omi-” started Atsumu, before being cut off by his boyfriend.

“Atsumu, honey. I love you so much words aren’t enough to express it. You are my life, my world, my very universe. I didn’t believe in soulmates before meeting you, but here I am, talking to my other half. I feel complete with you. I didn’t think that one could love another so much but I sometimes feel I could explode with love just by looking at you. Waking up by your side everyday is a blessing and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You are the one, Atsumu. I’ve always known it and I hope you think so too. And that’s why, I’m asking everyone but especially you,” Kiyoomi said, before getting on one knee in front of his lover. He heard a few gasps around him and pulled a small velvet box from his pocket. “Will you let me be a Miya?”

“Kiyoomi, are you proposing?” Atsumu asked, dumbfounded and tearing up.

“I think he is, ‘Tsumu,” Osamu said next to him.

“Should I say it differently, my love?” Kiyoomi said. His eyes had never left Atsumu’s. “Will you marry me?”

“Oh my god, yes!” Atsumu said with a cracking voice. “A thousand times yes. You are the one for me too, Omi, and I love you so so much,” he dropped in front of Kiyoomi.

With a shaky hand, Kiyoomi took Atsumu’s left hand and gently put the ring on his ring finger. Atsumu took his fiancé’s face in his hands and kissed him passionately. Both of them were trembling and their tears mingled on their cheeks.

"Miya Kiyoomi," Atsumu said. "Sounds good, I like it." He kissed his fiancé's two moles above his eyebrow and looked at his ring finger. "Soon you'll have a ring there too, and I'll be putting it on. Wow," he chuckled. "I can't believe you just proposed to me! I'm going to be your husband, Omi,” he said, as if he was trying to convince himself that it was real.

"Yes, yes you will, and I will be yours," Kiyoomi confirmed. As incredible as it sounded, it was real. He placed a soft kiss on his fiancé's lips. Fiancé. He smiled to himself. He was the luckiest man in the world.

"Stop kissing on the floor already and let us congratulate you," Mama Miya said as she took both their arms and forced them to stand up, before hugging them tightly. "Congratulations," she whispered in their ears. She then looked at her future son-in-law and took his hands in hers. "You've always been a Miya, Kiyoomi, and I'm glad you feel like one too." Kiyoomi thanked her before hugging her as tightly as she had when they first met.

Meanwhile, he saw Atsumu in his brother's arms. He couldn't hear what they were saying, but they were both nodding, each word accompanied by a pat on the back.

“Osamu, will you be my best man?” he finally heard Atsumu say.

“I better be,” his twin answered, a grin on his face.

He then walked over to Kiyoomi and hugged him, more gently than the one he had just given his brother. “I’m not going to give you the brother talk, but please take care of him.”

“I will,” he answered, honest. “I could never hurt him, Osamu. Never. I hope you know that.”

“I do. Welcome to the family. Officially, I mean,” he gave him a pat on the back.

“Thank you Osamu, that means a lot,” Kiyoomi said, returning the pat.

Suna quickly took the place of his boyfriend. “Congrats man, that was a hella speech. Now you’re going to be the favourite son-in-law,” he said. They both laughed. They looked at their lovers and looked at each other, knowingly. They may not have been born as Miyas, but they were thankful to have become one of them.

Kiyoomi couldn’t wait to take Atsumu down the aisle and call him his husband.
