Work Text:

"Jack."

It was cold. Freezing. Jack's fingers were numb. That was the first thing he noticed after being awoken by some gentle nudgings.

" Jack. "

"Davey," he groaned, pushing his boyfriend's head away from his face. "It's cold. I'm not getting up just to deal with your ridiculous time schedule. Give me a couple more hours."

Davey rolled his eyes at Jack's grumblings. "It's 9 in the morning."

Jack opened one eye to glare at him. "Exactly," he said grumpily, flumping his head back onto the pillow, face down.

"Jackie, come on ," Davey laughed gently.

Jack resorted to nothing but a middle finger thrown in Davey's general direction.

He waited a few sacred moments before stroking a hand through Jack's curls gently.

"It's snowing," he said softly. "And there's enough to make a snowman."

That got Jack's attention. He rolled over and faced his boyfriend. "You're kidding ?!"

Davey laughed. "No, I'm not."

Jack's eyes widened and he jumped out of bed, running to the window like a child. "Holy shit ! Davey there's tons !"

"And you're forgetting something important," Davey noted with a smirk.

"What?" He looked down then rolled his eyes. "I know I'm not wearing a shirt, Dave, stop being horny."

Davey flushed bright red. "Jack! I wasn't talking about that!"

"'Course you weren't," Jack winked. "I know you prefer me without it anyway," he whispered in his love's ear.

"Shove off," Davey laughed, pushing Jack away who was, himself, cackling at his own wit. "I was talking about the date."

Jack's eyes widened with sudden fear. "We had a date? And I missed it? Shit, sweetheart, I am so sorry, my head's been all over the place and I-"

"No, no! Not that kind of date you plank, I meant the literal date."

Jack picked up his watch from the bedside table and Davey smiled at the way Jack furrowed his brow as he read.

"December 24th," Jack murmured. "It's Christmas eve… we're having a white Christmas?" he asked softly, looking up at his boyfriend wondrously.

"Looks like it," Davey grinned.

"Oh, sweetheart," Jack whispered, pulling a mildly confused Davey into his arms.

"Jack? Love? You okay?" he asked gently.

"I ain't never seen a white Christmas in my whole life," he responded quietly. "It's gonna be magical. Oh, darlin' this is everything I've ever dreamed of."

Davey kissed the side of his head gently. "Jack, baby, it's okay." He pulled back and cradled Jack's face in his hands. "Let's go make a snowman, yeah?" Jack nodded. "And then we can watch Elf. Promise." He kissed his boyfriend's lips softly, making the other giggle, then gently pulled away and passed Jack a shirt. "I'll see you in five, mi amor ."

Jack watched with dazed wonder in his eyes as his boyfriend left the room, hardly moving. He shook his head in disbelief of his good fortune, and got changed, the smile on his face never wavering.

"That is not snowman-making, Jacobs!" Jack yelled, doubled over with laughter as another snowball hit his arm. "And how did your aim get so good?! You were hopeless last year!"

Davey grinned, already making another snowball in his hands, his black leather gloves only giving him minimal protection from the cold. "Those basketball practices seem to have helped," he shouted back, launching another ball at Jack that hit him square on the head.

"Alright, alright! Give me some time to prepare myself before you give me hypothermia," he pleaded, in absolute stitches.

Cracking up too, Davey threw himself at his boyfriend, pushing them both to the ground so they collapsed in fits of laughter in the snow.

"I was gonna suggest making snow angels," Jack murmured once they'd quietened a little, still lying there, "but I don't know why I'd want a snow angel when I've got a real angel right here in front of me."

Davey rolled his eyes. "You're straight out of a fucking Hallmark movie," he grinned, leaning down to kiss Jack. "Where'd you pick that one up, Kelly?"

"From my own brain, swear up 'n down, Jacobs."

Davey snorted. "Yeah, right."

Jack faltered a little, lost in the moment. "Davey?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you too, you dork. Come on, there's half a snowman over there that needs completing, and I've not had feeling in my toes for the past half an hour."

"After you, darlin'."

"We're calling him Joe. 'Cause he's ugly, has no heart, and is a gigantic pain in my ass, just like Kath's dad," Jack declared stubbornly, while punching the last stick into the snowman's side.

Davey laughed. "You got the man fired, love. Maybe lay him off a little. It is Christmas, after all."

"Christmas Schmistmas. He was a dick, Dave; I can say what I like about him. Even if I don't actually have to see him every day anymore."

"Mkay, fair," Davey grinned, "but come and give me a kiss, my lips are cold."

"Well suffer. I'm heading inside," Jack grinned before running back into the house, quickly followed by an eager Davey

"Hey! That was mean," he pouted as he shut the front door behind him. "Kiss me to make up for it."

Jack rolled his eyes and pulled Davey by the arm into the kitchen, but pausing underneath the door frame. "Wait here. Close your eyes, Dave."

"I don't trust yo-"

"I said close your eyes! You can trust me, sweetheart. Promise."

Davey glared jokingly as Jack gave a boyish grin and then closed his eyes, waiting.

Jack ran off in order to search for something and left Davey standing there for a good couple of minutes.

"Jack Kelly, if you've stood me up I swear to God you won't live to see Christmas day!" he shouted across the house, remaining with his eyes closed.

"I'm comin' , Dave!"

A few moments later, Davey felt a gentle whisper by his ear.

"Open your eyes, darlin'."

Slowly, he opened them to see Jack's face inches from his own, and he looked upwards to see what Jack was holding, and…

"Mistletoe?" he laughed softly, cupping Jack's face.

"Hey, you're the one who wanted a kiss, Jacobs."

It was Davey's turn to roll his eyes. "You are ridiculous."

"You love it though," Jack murmured, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend softly, threading his fingers through his hair. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart."

"Merry Christmas, Jackie."
