Chapter Text
The snow outside was gently falling down, as the night sky went dark and darker with Christmas lights overtopping the bright stars. The moon looms over the people with its ever so brightness.
It’s truly a beautiful night for Christmas evening yet Yoo Jonghyuk couldn’t quite be excited or happy this evening.
Currently, he’s roaming around the streets of South Korea. Passing by people with gifts in hands, families inside restaurants eating till they're full, and houses with families and friends inside. Celebrating this festive season.
Where everyone comes together.
Except for Yoo Jonghyuk.
Unfortunately, for the young man he didn’t have a family. His parents and his little sister died recently in a car accident, leaving only him behind.
He doesn’t like to recall the events that took place that unfaithful day.
Every time, every goddamn time, he recalled guilt and deep sadness filled his heart making his heart become very cold without any warmth in him.
It’s probably why he decided to put walls around himself, blocking people away from him. Forcing his friends to not come near him because he simply didn’t want to be helped or maybe he just didn’t want others around him to leave him.
To him it seemed easier to just leave than having them leave him. Sometimes he feels like he’s bad luck. A walking crow. Bound to bring bad luck to those he gets close too.
Yoo Jonghyuk continues his lonely path, walking around aimlessly, not knowing what he simply wants or needs. But one thing for sure is that he just wanted to walk around. To go outside and see how the world was doing during his absence after being huddled inside his apartment with no social interaction, only video games to play.
He suddenly stops in front of a big Christmas tree that was in the middle of Seoul city.
‘How beautiful’
Yoo Jonghyuk thought to himself, before walking up closely to the Christmas tree, to have a better look, standing next to people who were also admiring the tree that had different kinds of colors, flashing bringing people’s attention to it. Including the Star that stood high up the tree.
People here and there taking pictures with the tree or simply just took the picture of the tree as it is. Chatters and laughter filled around him, making him feel annoyed and uneasy.
It’s suffocating almost.
Yoo Jonghyuk glances downwards, narrowing his eyes with pain lingering around his heart.
Maybe it wasn’t a great idea to come here.
He should’ve just stayed inside his apartment.
Yoo Jonghyuk turns his head around, about to leave this scene.
He should’ve never come out.
He should’ve-
Until… he saw red, filling in his vision. He stops at his tracks. Unable to move, focusing his gaze at the young man who had red hair that was tied up in a pigtail, leaving the underneath hair down, he can’t seem to turn away. He feels too curious about his man appearance instead of seeing his hair. He wants to see all parts of his man.
Until, he hears a quiet voice perking up.
“My, my. It’s quite cold outside. I should’ve just stayed inside the restaurant with Choi Han and Alberu…” The young man whispered to himself, bringing his hands up to his mouth. Breathing in them, hoping that his hands will quickly warm up.
But he turns his head to the side. Feeling someone stare towards him. He stoically looks at Yoo Jonghyuk.
Yoo Jonghyuk now sees him clearly. A man with a black coat covering his body, reddish eyes that held nothing in them just a glint of the light shining in his eyes, and pale skin almost matching the snow that was falling down on them.
Yoo Jonghyuk silently stares at the man, watching his straight shoulder length hair flap in the wind and moving slowly in great shock.
The man stares back at him, like he didn’t mind at all or maybe he just didn’t care why Yoo Jonghyuk was staring at him.
The two almost seemed like they enjoyed the silence together, blocking out any noise around them. It was only the two of them.
The two of them that can share this silence moment. Together.
The man averts his gaze from Yoo Jonghyuk, turning his attention in front of him. The Christmas tree.
Yoo Jonghyuk doesn’t know why, but he hated how he looked away from him. Not paying attention to him anymore and only at the Christmas tree. He darkly gazes at the tree, thinking that if he turned into something bright like this Christmas tree would this man pay his attention to him?
Yoo Jonghyuk blinks. With realization hitting him.
‘What a childish thought… what the hell was I just thinking now?’ Yoo Jonghyuk deeply sighs to himself, discarding the thought away.
“It’s a beautiful night, huh?” The man said, catching Yoo Jonghyuk attention. The man glances at Yoo Jonghyuk who was already staring back at him.
Yoo Jonghyuk nods, agreeing with the man. “It is although it would’ve been better if it was quiet…” the man lifts his eyebrows up, a bit surprised.
The man brings his hand up to his mouth, trying to cover his chuckle.
Yoo Jonghyuk frowns his eyebrows together, confused why he laughed. The man softly giggles as his bubbly smile blooms on his face.
“I’m sorry, but it was funny with what you had said.” Yoo Jonghyuk raises an eyebrow.
“What do you mean?” The man grins at Yoo Jonghyuk. Closing his eyes enjoying this small conversation.
“Well, what you said is true. I personally agree with you. It’s why I found it funny” the man exclaimed, he softly fluttered his eyes open.
“But..” the man turns his head to Yoo Jonghyuk, softly smiling at him as Yoo Jonghyuk stares at him in shock.
“You can’t help to enjoy the atmosphere because without it, it wouldn’t even be considered a festive year? I don’t know, just take my word for it.” Yoo Jonghyuk slightly tilts his head to the side, somewhat understanding the man’s words. He opens his mouth.
“What’s your name?” Yoo Jonghyuk asks, the man gives a smile towards Yoo Jonghyuk. Turning himself in front of him, forcing Yoo Jonghyuk to turn as well.
The man sticks his hand out to Yoo Jonghyuk, “Cale Henituse. It’s Cale Henituse.” Cale small smiles at him.
The wind started to pick up, blowing Cale’s hair as it flowed with the wind in sync. Yoo Jonghyuk feels himself being even more drawn to him.
‘Tsk’ Cale said under his breath, as he was about to tuck his hair behind his ear. It was already taken.
Yoo Jonghyuk tucks Cale’s hair behind his ear. Cale looks at him with wide open eyes. Yoo Jonghyuk lips twitch into a small smile. Cale finds this sight a bit too… enhancing. Yoo Joonghyuk is already handsome to Cale and to see him smile?
Was a bit too much for his heart.
Yoo Jonghyuk lowers his hand down, putting his hand behind his nape. Softly scratching it, averting his gaze away from Cale.
“Sorry…” Yoo Jonghyuk mumbled. Cale looked closely at him and he could see his ears faintly tinting red.
Cale opens his mouth, but quickly closes it. He turns his head away from Yoo Jonghyuk, using his index finder to softly caress his cheeks from his cheeks to become even more red than it was now.
People around looked at this scene, feeling as if they were the background characters and then the leads in a romance drama.
Cale turns his head to look at Yoo Jonghyuk and can see him still scratching his neck as if it’s his way to comfort himself.
Cale lowers his hand down, crossing them to his chest.
‘If he keeps scratching his neck, it’ll surely bleed.’
Cale sighs softly, ignoring his heartbeat that wanted to come out his chest. He takes a step in front of Yoo Jonghyuk, removing his hand from his neck with both hands. He holds them gently, looking at Yoo Jonghyuk with a frown.
Yoo Jonghyuk mutters, “what…?” Cale squints his eyes at him.
“You shouldn’t be scratching yourself that hard or else you’ll bleed, ya know?” Cale huffs, Yoo Jonghyuk eyes widened. He softly chuckles to himself, giving a small smile at Cale who gave him a confused look.
‘What a strange person. Worrying about the little things’
‘This bastard. Why is he laughing about this matter?’
Yoo Jonghyuk caresses Cale’s knuckles, looking down at his hand who was currently being held by Cale.
“Thank you.” Cale nods, opening his mouth once more.
“You didn’t tell me your name yet.” Cale said, forcing Yoo Jonghyuk to look at Cale.
“My name is Yoo Jonghyuk. It’s nice to meet you, Cale Henituse.” Yoo Jonghyuk answers back, with a small smile still printed on his face.
Cale raises his eyebrow up, before nodding to his answer. Cale then slowly retreats his hands back, lowering them down and putting his hands back inside his pockets.
Yoo Jonghyuk glances down at his hand that was held by Cale, he takes a mental note at how soft and warm Cale’s hands were. Maybe the rest of his bod-
“U-Um excuse me!” A middle aged girl speaks out with a hint of nervousness in her voice catching Yoo Jonghyuk and Cale’s attention.
The two turn their attention to the girl that spoke up and another boy next to her who was holding a long black stick in hand. The girl held a camera up to her chest. Earning Yoo Jonghyuk a slight glare.
“S-Sorry, but we- I mean, I was wondering if I could take a picture!” She exclaimed, Yoo Jonghyuk was about to decline the offer until Cale’s voice spoke up.
“Does it involve money?” Cale said confidently, earning surprising faces from the girl, the boy, and Yoo Jonghyuk towards Cale.
Yoo Jonghyuk feels speechless not knowing that Cale had this side of him.
The boy looked at him in disbelief with a face telling his words that he wanted to say out loud, but couldn't, which was ‘like hell I am going to pay you!!!’
The girl lowers her head down. Cale sighs in disappointment, “Kid it’s-“ the girl looks at Cale in determination.
“Yes!! I’ll give you $80 sir!!” The girl says, with sparkling eyes.
The boy next to her, turns his head around to the girl with his eyes cursing at her. Wanting to slap her from whatever spell she was on.
‘You damned woman!!! Act sober!! What the fuck are you on?!?’
Yoo Jonghyuk believes that Cale wouldn’t agree to such-
“Sure. What kind of picture are you wanting to take exactly?” Cale asks, ignoring Yoo Jonghyuk and the boy eying him in disbelief.
Cale recalls to himself about Alberu complaining how Cale doesn’t pay him back after eating at the restaurant. And earning this kind of money will help him to stop complaining to him. Yes. It sounded like a good plan and deal.
What’s the worst that could happen?
The girl grins at Cale making Cale a bit nervous, wondering if agreeing this was a good thing.
“It’s simple! I just need you two to kiss under the mistletoe!” The girl smiled. The boy points the stick upwards towards Cale and Yoo Jonghyuk that is now hanging above between the two. Earning the two both shock faces towards each other.
Cale whips his head around towards the girl. With a deep tint of red shading his ears.
'You got to be kidding me.'
And with Yoo Jonghyuk he couldn’t help, but be stunned, almost wanting to just simply disappear.
The girl smiles at them in confusion, “Are you two not a couple?” Cale buries his face inside his palms.
The two weren’t a couple at all.
They had only just met today.
And of course that form of friendship was going to become ruined from this sudden event.
Cale lifts his face off from his palms, but still has his palms close to his face. Covering his developed blush that was slowly rising.
Cale shouldn’t have asked or even agreed to this as well. Yoo Jonghyuk must feel very uncomfortable. He should tell the two the truth before this carries on any further.
Cale speaks up, “Look we’re-“ Suddenly, he is pulled by his wrist. Bumping his head into something hard, he glances up and sees Yoo Jonghyuk. Holding onto his wrist gently, Yoo Jonghyuk stares at Cale who seemed to be dumbfounded at the moment.
Yoo Jonghyuk turns around to the two who were very quiet, watching this moment happening in front of them. He opens his mouth.
“Tell us whenever you’re ready. Make it quick” Yoo Jonghyuk sharply said, making the two quickly hurry themselves up.
Cale still stares at Yoo Jonghyuk, dumbfounded. He sees Yoo Jonghyuk avert his stare to Cale.
“What? Is something wrong?”
“Yes…. Why did you agree? I was going to tell them that we weren’t a couple..” Cale whispered. Yoo Jonghyuk sighs, leaning forward to Cale’s ear.
“You wanted to do this right? At least take responsibility for agreeing upon this.” Cale shivers, feeling his heart jump out of his chest. Yoo Jonghyuk slowly pulls himself back away from Cale’s ear.
“W-We’re ready!” The boy said, giving a thumbs up.
“Please make it seem kinda romantic! Like do a pose!” The girl focuses her camera.
Yoo Jonghyuk let’s out of Cale’s wrist, using that hand to wrap around Cale’s waist making Cale jolt.
“H-Hey!” Cale loudly whispers towards Yoo Jonghyuk, who only responds by tightening his grip around Cale’s waist. Making Cale quietly gasps.
Cale’s two hands were on Yoo Jonghyuk's chest, his heel lifted up a bit. Cale stares at Yoo Jonghyuk making himself think it wasn't actually happening right now.
Yoo Jonghyuk whispered, “Let’s see if this money will be worth the kiss.” Cale’s eyes widens, he glances down, feeling heat arise from his face. His heart started to quicken.
‘God damnit.. he didn’t need to tease me. I’m not going to be the one who takes that.’
Cale lifts his gaze up to Yoo Jonghyuk, smirking at him. Yoo Jonghyuk's confused gaze lands on Cale wondering why he was smiling…
Cale’s arms wraps around Yoo Jonghyuk neck, whispering quietly. “Yeah let’s test that shall we?” Cale pulls Yoo Jonghyuk into a deepen kiss. Shocking Yoo Jonghyuk.
The girl silently squeaks, snapping some pictures. The boy covers his eyes, embarrassed with what he’s witnessed.
Yoo Jonghyuk closes his eyes, sighing into the kiss. Pulling Cale closer to him, kissing him back. Cale’s finger flinches.
Cale then slightly opens his mouth, letting Yoo Jonghyuk explore. Yoo Jonghyuk does so after being allowed too.
The Christmas lights flickered into a different color, turning it into a warm color as snow gently fell down. The moon shining bright up above. People passing this scene look at the scene as they continue to pass and the others silently staring.
Cale pulls back, breaking off the kiss, feeling his or maybe Yoo Jonghyuk salvia land on his lips. Cale silently pants, trying to catch his breath. As Yoo Jonghyuk stares at Cale’s face who still held on to his stoic facade, but you could tell that his blush spread across his cheeks. His eyes dazed. Yoo Jonghyuk feels his heart thump at Cale’s expression.
He thinks to himself how the kiss was actually good. He silently hoped that they could continue and hoped that the girl somehow forgot or at least made angles. Unfortunately, the girl yells out telling them they’re done and to come over to see them.
Until they hear a cracking noise behind them. Yoo Jonghyuk looks behind Cale, he sees two people. Cale noticed Yoo Jonghyuk shifted gaze, he turned his head around as well and saw Hyung and Choi Han.
Alberu's eyes widened, dropping a bag on the ground that probably had food in it from the restaurant. Choi Han cracked his phone in his hand, who also had widened eyes, but his eyes were dangerously darkening by the second.
Alberu yells, “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, CALE?!?” Running towards Cale, ripping him away from Yoo Jonghyuk embrace. Pulling him close to him, giving Yoo Jonghyuk a glare.
“Hyung-“
Yoo Jonghyuk grabs Cale’s wrist, firmly gripping it. Glaring back at Alberu.
“Hand him over.”
Alberu scoffed, “Like hell I will!! Who do you think you are to take away my dongsaeng?!”
“Cale. He has to take responsibility.”
“FOR WHAT?!? DID HE OWE YOU ANY MONEY?! I’LL HAPPILY PAY YOU TO GO AWAY!!” Alberu yelled out, as did Choi Han who was still standing in the same spot. Dark aura surrounding him, it looks like he was trying his best to control his anger inside.
“It’s not money.” Yoo Jonghyuk responded back, still firmly holding Cale's wrist.
“Then what-“
“For agreeing to kiss me” Yoo Jonghyuk finally said, leaving Alberu stunned. Alberu dangerously glances down at Cale who avoided Alberu gaze.
“Cale. Henituse. This better not be true. Or so help me-“
“Hyung let’s go home now, it’s late ya know? I bet Basen and Lily are waiting for our return including the other kids. Gosh, we really need-“ Alberu shuts Cale’s mouth with his hand. Alberu deeply sighs, letting go of Cale from his embrace. Glaring at him, with arms crossed.
“Explain this matter right now. Before Choi Han will tear this center down.” Alberu said, Cale sweat drops. He feels his hands being tangled with another hand which was Yoo Jonghyuk. Holding his hand. Alberu almost choked at that.
Yoo Jonghyuk speaks out, “He wanted to earn money, don’t blame him for this.” Alberu smiles, as a dark shadow covers his eyes.
“Oh really?” Alberu looks at Cale who Cale only could look back, keeping silent to himself. Alberu sends him a look of ‘when we get back, I’m killing yo ass’.
Cale curses Yoo Jonghyuk in his head, but then he hears him speak up again.
“I’ll be taking Cale with me,” Yoo Jonghyuk said, still holding Cale’s hand.
Cale's eyes widened at this. Alberu could’ve sworn he just coughed out blood, and Choi Han flinches at this.
Cale, stunned eyes, looks at Yoo Jonghyuk, “why-“ Yoo Jonghyuk cuts him off.
“We still need to settle this matter. Between you and me. Don’t tell me you don’t plan to take responsibility.” Yoo Jonghyuk frowns, Cale lifts his hand above his eyes.
‘I should’ve never been greedy with the money in the first place…’
Alberu opens his mouth to say something, but a black figure quickly speeds from his vision. Heading towards Yoo Jonghyuk, Hearing a uproar.
“YOU AREN’T GOING TO TAKE CALM-NIM AWAY, YOU CRAZY BASTARD!!!” Choi Han runs up towards Yoo Jonghyuk. As Cale feels like his eyes are coming out from his face, Alberu runs to Choi Han to pull him back.
BAM!
