    Madeline wasn’t sure what she had been expecting when she imagined her first meeting with her soulmate.

    Okay that’s not true. She was a sucker for romance, and although not one to glorify the whole ride off into the sunset schtick, she still loved the idea of one person essentially made to be her perfect complement. She had imagined some kind of meet-cute, like bumping into each other at a coffee shop or even maybe some kind of enemies to lovers situation with an angry altercation that turned into a blissful realization. Okay, maybe the second one wasn’t really likely considering the words of her soulmark, but still, you never know right?

    She did not however, ever consider the possibility that actually befell her. She’s not sure any sane person would’ve.
