Chapter Text
“Hawks, do you have visual?”
Perched on the edge of a building in Musutafu proper, the number three hero eyes scan the ground below and its surrounding area. Cars, civilians, and a flurry of activity blurs together beneath him.
“Hey Nezu, you blackmailed me into this favor, but I have no idea what you’re having me look for or why you’re having me as your watchdog right now,” Hawks mutters as he rolls his eyes up to the sky wishing that Nezdu didn’t have dirt on every hero to ever exist.
“Hawks, no complaining now! I already told you that you’re the best fit for apprehending this target. It is of the utmost importance that you’re involved with this capture,” simpered Nezu in Hawk’s earpiece.
“Yes, but I don’t know WHY you need Me. I literally have no idea who or what I am looking for or why I am the best fit for this capture. You’ve pulled me off my important patrol routes and I’ve been sitting on this rooftop for the last hour and forty-five minutes watching a busy, but peaceful street. I think I deserve a little bit of an explanation,” Hawks bit out as he clenched his jaw in frustration.
“Well, well. Someone is in a mood,” exclaimed the voice in Hawk’s ear. “If you must know. You were chosen for your speed and precision. Eraserhead had previously been the only one on this case, but the target he is chasing is a tricky one. The person we have you watching out for has evaded capture for quite some time now and has repeatedly made off with some seriously private information. Normally Eraser could handle this kind of take down and investigation on his own, but we caught wind that Ereaser’s target was after some support tech that would make them infinitely more slippery. And that is where you come in! You’re one of the fastest and most agile heroes around, and if this target gets their hands on this tech, we will be needing all the help we can get. Ereaser is currently chasing the target your way and we are unsure if they got what they were looking for. You’re mostly here as insurance. You see, there are not many quality airborn- “
Nezu’s explanation was cut off by a gust of wind and a loud boom as Hawks lost his balance as something came rocketing up the side of the building with enough force to tip him over. Tipped onto his ass, Hawks head shot up to what a missile of metallic green blasted up and over his head. The higher it got the more Hawks could make out as it blocked the sun out of his eyes. Arms, legs, a torso, a head… Was that a person?
In the middle of Hawk’s musing, a familiar capture weapon hooks onto the ledge of the building and pulls a scruffy man onto the roof. As he gets his barings, his head shoots up to the sky and what comes out of his mouth is a surprise.
“Kid!”
Oh. A kid?
A KID?!?!?
