Chapter Text
[Will Solace POV]
It was a quiet day in the infirmary today. That’s why all I’m doing was fixing the inventory. I sighed, a peaceful day indeed. That is until a certain demigod with sea green eyes and black hair came rushing into the infirmary, saying, “Oh thank gods, Will you’re here!”
I chuckled turning my back from the inventory, not surprised at all to see the son of Poseidon, “What is it now- oh, fucking gods, what in the name of Hades happened?”
Percy smiled goofily as he always does. He was shirtless and was dripping wet (he sometimes allows himself to get wet every once in a while when he take swims), but that wasn’t the problem, no… The problem was that there were claw scratches all over his chest and even some on his face. Percy rubbed the back of his neck, still with the goofy smile as he said, “Well…”
But before he could answer, Annabeth came walking into the infirmary from behind. She was holding a black kitten who was sitting behaved in her arms though rather uncomfortably, “He annoyed this little fella here.” she said before glaring at her boyfriend.
Percy threw his hands in exasperation, “How was I supposed to know it doesn’t like water?!”
Annabeth rolled her eyes, “It’s a cat.”
I tore my eyes away from Percy to pet the cat, “Hello little fella, did my friend here hurt you?” As I got closer to the cat, I stared into its brown eyes and found myself not wanting to tear away. Those eyes look oddly familiar. I didn’t dwell on that though as the cat’s purr caught my attention. I turned to it and cooed at its adorableness. It meowed at me before it jumped towards me without warning (though I guess its meow should’ve been the warning.)
Percy shrieked, shouting, “Look out! It’s going to scratch you too!”
Fortunately, the cat didn’t scratch me. As soon as I caught it smoothly with my arms, it leaned its head at my chest, rubbing itself, probably basking at my warmth before purring again. I pet it with a smile on my face, “But he seems harmless!”
Annabeth cleared her throat and was smirking at me as I looked up, “What?” I asked.
She shook her head, suddenly looking curiously at the cat that was trying to reach my hand with its paws, probably asking me to pet it more, and so I did as Annabeth answered, “Have you seen Nico this fine day?”
I hummed, “Lou Ellen asked for his assistance this- oh gods no!” I then used my two hands to raise the cat in front of me just like Simba was raised in Lion King, only this time I raised him so that he was facing me, “Nico?”
The cat blinked at me, meowed, then made an expression which I’m sure was an equivalent for one of Nico’s infamous eye rolls. I gasped, “It is you!”
Percy then approached us rather frustratedly, which made me cradle the cat protectively in my arms again, “What were these scratches then for, huh? Not cool man.”
Nico was pretending to ignore Percy as he licked his paws elegantly. Annabeth and I chuckled at Nico the cat’s shenanigans before I booped it’s nose, “Come on, darling. Be nice.”
The cat then turned to me, giving me a murderous expression as if wanting to scratch me too, but it eventually gave in, turning to Percy and giving him what sounds like an apologetic meow.
Percy then smiled, “How could I stay mad at you when you’re this cute!” Percy tried to touch Nico but he hissed at the son of Poseidon, making him back-away.
Annabeth sighed, “Maybe we should leave you with Nico. I’ll try to talk to Lou about this, alright?”
I nodded, then shot her a look of gratitude, “Thank you, Annabeth.”
Annabeth nodded then grabbed Percy who hissed in pain. Annabeth’s eyes widened as she turned back to me, “Can I get some ambrosia and nectar to treat my boyfriend here?” I nodded, pointing her towards the supply cabinet then she and Percy finally left.
I then placed Nico on my desk as I sat down to start with today’s paperworks. As soon as I did though, Nico jumped on my lap and was tapping its adorable little paws on my chest as it let out an adorable meow, that I’m sure was supposed to be considered as whining.
I chuckled down at Nico then picked him up in my arms again, cradling him, and petting him every once in a while. Nico relaxed in my arms then began purring again, as eventually, he fell asleep.
I smiled at how cute and peaceful Nico looks, though I already miss just cuddling and bickering with human Nico, “Oh, I won’t stop teasing you for this.” I whispered, not wanting to wake Nico as I gently placed him on the desk. I knew cats loved to sleep, so I might as well leave him be as I turned to my work.
It turned out that the spell would only last until midnight, so until then, I just kept Nico busy when he wasn't asleep (Believe me, cats sleep a lot). So, in those few miraculous moments that Nico was awake, I would just make him play with yarn or a laser that he can’t resist though tries to. Nico would hiss at me after, but then I just scratch and pet him in the right places then he would be vulnerable and whining for cuddles, his purr making it evident that he’s enjoying all I’m doing for him.
I was also keeping an eye for the Stolls because they seem to look at Nico with mischief in their eyes. I don’t need them to put my currently feline boyfriend into trouble.
FINALLY, we reached the end of the day. I was laying on Nico’s bed in the Hades Cabin by them time we neared midnight while Nico himself was curled up on top of my stomach, his face facing mine.
I stroked his head affectionately, not able to stop myself from cooing at his adorableness as I said, “I’m going to miss this…” That earned me a meow from Nico, so, I chuckled then stroked him faster to mess with his fur. Nico hissed then began licking its fur as I said, “But I also missed my regular, bickering, moody but still adorable human Nico.”
The cat turned at me, hesitantly before blinking at me questioningly, following it with a meow, probably protesting that he ain’t cute. I rolled my eyes, Typical Nico.
At that moment, Nico began glowing, then suddenly cat Nico transformed into human Nico (with clothes, thank the gods).
As Nico transformed back, he was positioned still on top of me, our faces inches from each other, and my boyfriend’s arms keeping him upright and from completely falling into my face. He then had the audacity to smirk as we both began to blush, “Looks like I’m on top of you tonight.”
I let out a shaky laugh, giving him my own smirk as I retorted, “After everything that happened today, you really think you’re the dominant one?”
Nico groaned then finally rolled over to his side of his bed, “I hate you so gods dam much, Solace.”
His back was on me, so I hugged him from behind, placing kisses on his neck, “But you were adorable! Come on, darling… Face me, please.”
Nico shrugged then finally faced me, his face as red as a tomato, “No teasing.”
I hummed in agreement, “For tonight, yeah.”
Nico shrugged before letting out a yawn, “You’re lucky I’m tired.”
I snickered after muttering, “After sleeping all day.”
Nico then nudged me, but before I could react, he was already kissing me, and of course I just had to kiss back. When we pulled away Nico glared at me as he ordered, “Now, shut up and cuddle with me.”
This must be proving his point but I didn’t care. I missed this, and so, I did what I was told. I cuddled with him as I put my arm around him while he rested his head by my chest, letting out a hum of contentment. I stroked and played with his hair as I whispered affectionately, “I love you, darling. No matter what you are.”
Nico hummed as he sleepily answered, “Love you too.” Then we fell asleep with my heart fluttering as it always does when Nico says those words.
