He should have known it was a trap. He should have seen Denkis smile and interpreted it as the maniacal grin it was, not just a friendly reassurance. But Hanta genuinely thought Denki needed help putting up the Christmas decoration. Well, partly he did. Denki, Mina, Ochako and Tenya planned to have a festive surprise waiting when Izuku brings Eri to the dorms. And he almost denied helping, since he was obscenely slacking with his homework. However, one specific class prez was quite convincing.
Engrossed in his task of hanging up a mistletoe and some fairy lights over the main hall door frame, he did not feel sneaky fingers pulling tape out of his elbow. Suddenly, he felt a finger tap his shoulder, swirled around and- was stuck. In his own quirk. “Really?” he asked tiredly. Denki just grinned and pulled on the end of the tape he still held. Hanta barely budged. Mina laughed as she saw the blond struggle and skipped over to help. Now Hanta found himself taped to the door frame he just worked on. “Aw, come on guys. I really just wanna finish with this and go to bed.” They both shook their heads and snickered like school girls.
Then, Ochako and Tenya entered the room. Ochako let the decorations flow, some snow flakes and candles levitating just above their heads. Tenya though was covered with shimmering garlands and paper chains and some white blankets. As he dropped it all on a table, the distressed tape hero caught his eye. As he spotted Ochako giggling with the others, he stepped forward. As he raised his hands and ripped the tape, the onlookers began to protest. “Oi, you can’t just leave.”
“Yeah, right! Whoever meets under the mistletoe must kiss.”
“I-its an American tradition, so…”
Tenya looked at the slightly shorter boy whose cheeks seemed unusually pink. “Are you alright?” he asked, ignoring how his own heartbeat speed up at the idea of kissing the other. The black-haired hero to be nodded. “C’mon, lets give them what they want. G-get it over with.” Tenya gave him a half smile, and before his courage could leave him again, he smacked his lips onto Hanta’s. The kiss was chaste. However, it still left both boys significantly redder than before. The throaty cheering from their classmates did not diminish anything. Although they did linger in each other’s space for longer than they had to.
And if they left the Christmas dinner earlier together, well. Let’s call it a Christmas miracle.
