The hunger grows inside of me, that sweet metallic taste is addicting like a drug.
But I shouldn't. This world is only human, for I'm not sure of any vampires that exist now. If news got out that vampires existed in historical times, especially vampires that have been around humans for years, it would be an absolute panic.
The best I can do is order meat or animal blood, but both are very expensive. Swearing on my life to never hurt anyone long ago, here I am, dizzy from the lack of blood and trying to control it.
I'm a member of the NXX, and luckily they haven't suspected anything. Well, I'm afraid Vyn might have caught on, he's always looking at my mouth or asking strange questions.
Speaking of Vyn and NXX, we're currently in a meeting right now discussing an old case that was brought up from 2 years ago. Vyn won't stop glancing at me and it's starting to get uncomfortable. On top of that, I haven't consumed any animal blood or meat today and yesterday.
I feel sick to your stomach surrounded by 5 humans. Able to smell everything is overwhelming my senses. Curse you, vampire blood.
"Are you alright?" Vyn's question snaps me out of my thoughts, "I'm alright, just haven't slept much." Quickly brushing it off, I know I'm done for. He's too smart to not notice my lie. Well, it's not really a lie since I haven't slept much.
Let's hope he's smart enough not to tell anyone.

It's the next day, and I feel even worse. The place where I usually buy animal blood from got shut down for legal reasons. Damn it, this week couldn't get any worse.
I could try meat, but the blood in that is usually low since people don't like bloody meat.
Sitting in the lounge by myself while a laptop rests on my lap, I try to focus on the words on the screen. No matter how much I try to distract myself, the aching hunger grows.
"I got you some tea, I hope you don't mind if I sit next to you?" I nod, grabbing the tea. Hopefully this will help, but as I take a sip my body feels gross.
I can feel Vyn study me, "can you not stare? I feel very uncomfortable."
"You're hiding something." I almost choke on my tea. "Oh? What gave you that idea?" I tried to retort back, only to feel speechless when he caught me.
"You always seem resistant when it comes to blood, and act uncomfortable around other people." He goes on, "sharp teeth, dilated eyes, and a smell of blood coming from you."
"I could go on about other things I've noticed, but I don't want to bore you."
I feel my heart pound against my ribcage. "And? I don't see your point." Play dumb, maybe it'll.. work?
"You aren't human are you?" Shit, shit, shit. There's no point in denying it when he seems confident in his discovery.
"What will you do with that information?" I ask, my anxiety is high and I worry for the worst.
"I won't tell the others, for them to know is purely up to you or for them to figure it out." A bit of anxiety has eased, as the logical part of me says that Vyn has never been the type to tell secrets.
"You haven't drank in awhile, I can tell by how lightheaded you've been around all of us."
"The place where I got my animal blood was shut down.." there's no point in lying or denying anything now. Unexpectedly, I see take off his coat and unbutton his vest and formal shirt.
"W-what?" I look away in confusement and embarrassment. "You can drink from me, just don't drink too much." I turn back at him, he's holding his collar away, showing off pale skin.
My hunger betrays me, as my mouth opens to speak but nothing comes out. Fuck it.
I push him down onto the couch and pin him down with my body weight. My mouth ghosts over his neck, the surprising heat radiates off his neck. The sweet smell that comes off him is addicting, I can't help but want to savor his neck.
Bunching up my healing salvia onto his neck, my tongue takes over his neck and finds the perfect spot for biting. Found it. Biting down onto his neck is easier with the special salvia as it breaks skin down.
My hand is gripping his chin so I can fully bite into his neck. The rush of blood that quickly spills out is lapped up easily, only a few drops of blood spilling out from my mouth.
His blood tastes and smells absolutely euphoric, it's so much better than animal blood or plain meat. I feel his body start to go limp on me, so I immediately pull off. Pressing my tongue onto the wound, the bite marks disappear back into smooth skin like there wasn't a bite in the first place.
Licking up the last few drops of blood on Vyn's shoulder, I sat up and realized I had him pinned down. There aren't many words exchanged, I check for a pulse and it's still there.
Vyn looks blissed out of his mind, which is a rare sight. Not that surprising since my salvia has properties that cause the chemicals in the brain to relax and feel on cloud nine.
I dressed up his shirt and vest again, save for a few wrinkles. When putting my laptop away I noticed Vyn had fallen asleep, so I decided to join him. Purely to make sure his pulse is alright.. yeah.
It's a tight squeeze on the couch so I opted to just lay on top of him. I feel myself getting sleepy too, nuzzling into his vest.

It was Sunday afternoon at Vyn's house, and Vyn was asking me a lot of questions about my origins and telling me everything he noticed during the blood drinking.
"I noticed your eyes dilated like a cat's when I showed you my neck, does your species have any relations to animals?" Vyn asks, inspecting my eyes.
"Well, vampires share traits with animals." I try to think, "we have primal instincts, like pinning down prey."
"Interesting, I did notice you pinned me down roughly." He goes to inspect my teeth, running his fingers over the sharp points. Luckily it doesn't cut him because of the gloves he has on. "You have teeth similar to a canine's on both the top and bottom, no wonder you always hide your mouth when laughing."
Vyn stops inspecting my teeth, and I think he grabs some type of tube? It looks like a test tube. "You don't mind if I gather some of your saliva?" I nod, opening my mouth again and regurgitating the special saliva I produce.
I almost choke when he swabs a q-tip on my tongue.
"What are you going to do with this information? Just curious?" I ask, running my tongue over the roof of my mouth.
"I want to understand you better." I feel oddly touched that Vyn wants to know more about me. I watch him put the q-tip in the test tube, capping it off and setting it aside.
"The bite mark on my neck disappeared when I woke up, does your saliva have fast healing properties?"
I nod, "yeah, it only really works depending on how healthy the blood is. I'm not exactly sure why the health of my.. victim matters on how my saliva works on them." I try to explain it, but I haven't really thought about my body until now.
"I see, it might be because of the healthy blood cells mixing with your saliva. Healthy cells rebuild faster on their own, but with your natural healing saliva it speeds up the process." Sounds simple enough.
I cringe in disgust when I remember the things I used to do in the past, but there's no point in hiding it. "Uhh.. so in the past, I used to hunt down wild animals and sometimes humans when it got too bad." I look down, shame clouding my head.
When I look up I see Vyn looking at me like he's telling me to go on.
"Well, the blood usually tastes bitter and stronger when my.. prey is running away from me. And when the prey is already dead or willing, it tastes more neutral and less overwhelming."
"I suspect that's because of the heightened blood flow, the more blood pumping, the more metallic it tastes." He says, but my thoughts start to go out of focus.
"Vyn.." he looks back at me from his swivel chair, staring at my face. I feel so.. oh god, I just ate 2 days ago. I don't understand why my thrist hasn't gone away.
Usually I can drink every 3 to 4 days.. I guess one day of drinking wouldn't suffice to starving for 5 days. No words are said, but my hunger for his blood grows when I watch him take off his vest and unbutton his shirt.
Damn it, I can feel drool dripping from my mouth. Vyn moves his shirt down, off his shoulders and invites me to bite down.
I pull him into me, gripping his hair with my left hand and pulling down his shirt more with my right hand. I regurgitate my saliva onto his neck, spreading it around with my tongue.
I can feel his heartbeat get slightly faster, as I sink my teeth into his neck. Vyn's hands clutch onto my back, my teeth ripping into his barren skin.
Pulling back, I go for the other shoulder as I let go of his hair. Biting down after pooling more saliva down onto his left shoulder, I drink the blood that spills out.
It feels amazing, his blood is metallic but not too much, and has a slight salty and sweet taste. It tastes like a clean copper penny.
I feel my senses start to come back to me, when Vyn's body feels weaker and is limp against me.
Panic settles in me, as I quickly stop what I'm doing and check his pulse. Oh thank god, his pulse is still there.
Rubbing my tongue along his wounds, I cringe at how I got carried away. The wound doesn't close despite how much I put saliva on it. I must have taken too much blood that his cells are slower to rebuild.
Cleaning up his wounds is a bit difficult since he fainted and I'm not strong, but I'm still able to get the job done. The wounds have slightly healed, but those bite marks are still visible.
Rebuttoning the shirt, I wrap his arm around my shoulder and pull him into his bedroom and onto the bed.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, I comdeplate on what this friendship is. I don't think we can go back to being friends if I keep drinking from him like he's livestock.
I don't know what to do.
