Chapter Text
D had made a mistake and was paying for it tenfold. All they wanted to do was a small bank heist, nothing too big or important, just enough for the adrenaline rush of a plan going right and to keep on the edges of the heroes’ minds. D hadn’t seen their nemesis at all in a few weeks, and honestly felt a bit left out. What D didn’t know is that their nemesis was thinking about them, and planning.
Overall the heist had gone well, into the vault with only a few issues. D had planned for it to be easy, this bank was known not to have the greatest security from some of the people in the underground. D even got a few tips when they met up with an acquaintance that dealt in information of the sort. What D didn’t know was that the bank had just started to try and deal with these problems after being looked into when complaints started to pile up. So while getting in was child’s play, D tripped an alarm getting out.
The door only took a minute to pick and D got out overall unharmed but with their heart pounding like a drum as police sirens got closer and closer. They managed to slip away unnoticed with what they were after. It wasn’t much, just one box of many but it belonged to someone who D knew to be the identity of a hero that worked alongside their nemesis. If anything was just of personal value D might give it back as a gift to the hero during a holiday or their birthday. It seemed like a fun thing to do. Otherwise keeping the things as a trophy or selling them to some collectors in the underground would do.
Though D got out of the bank easily enough, they were tired and didn’t feel like doing much more after the adrenaline wore off. As they were walking home their feet started to feel heavy and it took longer than normal to get to the apartment complex that they owned. D overall wanted to just get into their apartment and go to sleep but as they reached the door they heard a familiar yet unwelcome voice and sounds no villain wants to hear at midnight.
Rustling of papers, doors and drawers being opened and closed, and the sound of D’s nemesis ordering a couple of police officers around. D groaned softly, mourning the loss of the sleep they could’ve had if their nemesis had not shown up without warning. Thankfully D had not left out any evidence that could have shown off that they were the one that lived there. The apartment looked perfectly normal and no plans would be seen by the late night visitors. This left only one issue. Where would D go to lay low for the night?
Usually D would have some sort of plan but with such a short notice they felt a bit lost on what to do. So instead of hanging around where they could be found any minute if the hero or one of the officers were to head outside, D decided to take a walk and see if they could find a place to relax for a moment and let this frustrating night end.
Not much is open at midnight, especially some place that D could sit down without fear of some hero or cop walking in and arresting them. Some coffee would be good right now, D thought. And then an idea fell into place, while talking to their acquaintance about the heist some other rumors started to be thrown around. Specifically about a new coffee shop that was basically a haven for villains. It was run by the most powerful villain the city had ever seen, an S tier villain known for almost unlimited power and that even if they were to be captured they would escape the hero’s grasp within hours.
Despite being the most wanted villain in the city, the shop they owned flew under the radar of all the heroes and wasn’t known to them. It seemed like a perfect place to go but D still was unsure. While it was said that no villains were allowed to fight or collect on deals there, D didn’t know if that was really true and while villains mostly fought heroes, brawls over territory, goods or plans were not uncommon. D wouldn’t really know what they were walking into until they got there. With almost no regulation on the coffee shop there was no guarantee of any quality, But D thought they would just take the chance and hope the universe would give them something decent. Hopefully a couch and some coffee. They thought that wasn’t too much to ask after the sleepless night the day turned into.
