Work Text:

Shit. Shit Shit Shit. It was hot outside, so he needed something that wasn’t too warm. And it was Pride, so it shouldn’t cover too much skin. Probably. Maybe?
Steve nervously passed his hands through his hair. Gosh, it was going to be his first pride and he was completely overwhelmed. And late. He was going to be late.
The angry sound of the buzzer interrupted his panic. It was not the time for a random vendor. Usually he tried to be polite, they were only doing their - shit - job, they didn’t need aggression, but today wasn’t the day.
Whoever was on the other side of his door was going to be abruptly cut off, he thought while crossing his living room.
However, when he opened the door, the person on the other side wasn’t a vendor. And it wasn’t only just one person.
“Hey Cap!” His friend Dugan exclaimed.
The Howlies. His group of friends, from practice, was here. Why?
“Huh, hi” he stammered.
“Very articulate. Can we come in?” Morita snarked.
“Look, it’s not the best time, I need to go -”
“Yes! Yes, we remember” Jones cut him “ That’s why we’re here.”
Slightly dubitative, Steve opened his door wide then let them in. Falsthworth put a tote bag on his table, then Dernier pushed Steve towards his bedroom.
“Come on, let us help,” he said. “We may only be allies, but we’re good ones. What are you planning to wear?”
Thirty minutes later, Steve was wearing a blue t-shirt - very fitting, but he didn’t feel being more exposed for his first pride - tight black jeans with black boots, the bracelet Bucky had gifted him and had some rainbow paint on his cheeks.
“Our work here is done” said Dugan. “Tell us how it went, and show us pictures at our next practice!”
“PG ones, please,” added Jones.
Steve chuckled. Yes, if he managed to keep Bucky away from his phone. He promised his friends some pictures, texted Bucky that he was on his way and would get them something from StarBucks then rounded his stuff.
Ten minutes later he left home and twenty minutes after that, he arrived at the starting point of the parade. He started to get his bi flag out of his backpack when he heard his boyfriend call him. He turned around then gaped. Bucky was wearing a white tank top, with skinny shorts, fishnet tights and black boots. He was also wearing his rainbow flag like a cape.
Steve waved at their friends behind him before he hugged Bucky.
“Hey gorgeous”
“Hey yourself”
They kissed briefly then Steve groaned. “Now I feel like I haven’t done enough.”
Bucky took his face in his hands. “Steve, this is your first pride. Don’t worry. You’re here, that’s what matters the most, okay? I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Behind Bucky, Steve heard one of their friends fake puke. He flipped them the bird.
“But you know, feel free to lose the t-shirt at any time.”
