Chapter Text

The sky was dark. The only sounds that were made were the sound of crickets chirping and the wind whispering through the trees. In the woods of Gravity Fall a statue of a triangle shape figure was buried half in the ground while the statue remained harmless it gave an unpleasant vibe. As if though at any time. Or any day this thing could regain its power and rise from beneath the ground. While it stood there silent you could almost hear the sound of demonic laughter.

Far away in Piedmont two twins were walking down the street through the night back to their house, they just finished their first high school year. Dipper and Mabel Pines. On the way back the two were talking about their summer plans for when they return to Gravity Falls. It's been months since they said goodbye to their friends and their uncles Stan and Ford.

“Sweet freedom!” Mabel said with relief as she busted through the door. “How can anyone put up with nine months of torture?” She faceplants on the table.

“Well maybe if you were interested in the things they wanted to teach you this wouldn't have happened,” Dipper said as he was scrolling through pages in his textbooks. “Anyway, I'm off to bed.”

Mabel lifted her head. “What but don't you wanna call Grunkle Stan or Uncle Ford?”

“Mable it's late it's not like they will call in the middle of the”

Suddenly Mabel's ringtone went off in her pocket. She gasped as she saw who was calling her. “IT'S THEM! Shhh, Dipper I gotta take this.” She answered the phone. Dipper stayed quiet and stared at Mabel waiting for a sign for him to speak.

“Hello... Hey Uncle Ford! Mmmhmm... ok I'll tell him.” She turned to Dipper. “Dipper, Ford wants to video chat to both of us. He has news.”

Dipper and Mabel were in Mabel's room looking at a laptop screen on a desk. They could see Ford on the screen he look as though he was out in a blizzard cause of the snow flying around him.

“Great Uncle Ford how you been? Did you find what you and Stan were looking for? And how is Stan going?”

“One at a time Dipper,” Ford said holding his hand up. “Stan is fine he is just um... occupied right now.” “Stanley I said tickle its tummy.” He said to whatever was happening off-screen. He turned his head back to the twins. “Sorry about that.”

“Uncle Ford did you say you wanted to talk about some news,” Dipper asked.

Ford cleared his throat. “Yes well, you see kids we may have to postpone this year's trip to Gravity Falls for you.”

“What!!!” Both the Twins exclaimed. “But we have been looking forward to coming back for a while. Our friends are waiting to see us again they are expecting us to come back!” Dipper said in disappointment. He had been wanting to go back ever since he and Mabel left. Mabel walking backward hit her bedroom wall and slid to the ground head in knees.

“I'm sorry Dipper but our research is the main priority right now,” Ford explained. “Things are going crazy out in the sea as of now and there are still so many things that are unsolved. You of all people should know how important studying these mysteries are don't you.”

Dipper knew fully well what all of this meant to Ford, solving mysteries has been one of Ford's life works. And Dipper has been following in his footsteps for only a whole summer and now more than ever he wants to continue that dream. He bowed his head. “I-Of course. I understand.

“Good,” Ford said softly. “ But I promise that when I and Stan are done here. We will call you. And we will all be waiting for you. Mabel dear did you hear me.” He called out to her. But Mabel was sobbing in her sweater. Dipper spoke for her to Ford. “I'll talk to her I will try to make her understand we will let you get back to work.

Form smiled. “I know you will kid. Mabel, I love you and Dipper take care of her.” Dipper gave him a reassuring smile. “I will.”

And with that Ford ended the call leaving Dipper to his thoughts and Mabel's feeling crashed.

“Stanley what did I say,” Ford yelled as he turn his attention back to Stan after the call with Dipper and Mabel, he was looking disapproved.

“What! Is he a teddy bear to you?! It has no feelings it's a polar bear!” Stan argued as he was getting stomped on by a polar bear to the ground looking beat up. “Ow, o, ow.” Stan felt a bone in his back crack. “Hey, that one felt pretty good-OW STOP IT!”

Dipper lay in his bed looking up at the ceiling his mind flooded with thoughts. He wasn't going back to Gravity Falls anytime soon. He missed everyone Stan, Ford, Soos, Wendy... Wendy?

He slowly got up and walked over to his desk he opened a drawer and pulled out a fold-up parchment began to unfold it and place it on the table revealing what it said.

“SEE YOU NEXT SUMMER!”

He smiled at all the signatures that his friends signed before they left that day on their 13th Birthday. He glanced over at Wendy's hat that was placed at the side of his desk. His face drop and he was now feeling sad that he will not be able to meet his friends for a while.

May 31st, 2015

Dipper and Mabel rolled up to their high school for the last day before summer starts. Mabel had a hard time trying to keep the focus on her subject as she was never really the type of girl to pay attention to and even fell asleep in class three times. Dipper on the other hand was able to pass most of his grades without a sweat. He was even able to help out Mable with her tests to make help able to at least pass on an average level. The two twins were more excited the usual the reason behind this because a month ago Ford gave them to call which was the first time they heard him since the last call when he break down to the twins saying they will not be attending Gravity Falls. But this call was different because Ford told them that he and Stan are now back in Gravity Falls, which meant they could finally go back.

“Now remember Mabel to stay focused in the class and don't fall asleep while doing it,” Dipper said as he was reading a textbook as they were walking in the school locker hallway.

Mabel groaned. “Yeah, I know. But don't you worry because I have my secret weapon to keep that from happening.” She pulled out a packet with a face sticking its tongue out that read “Fizz Sparkles”.

“Sugar Power!” Mabel yelled and laughed.

“That will not make you focus. It will just distract you.” Dipper did not look impressed with her plan.

“Oh yeah then I'll show you after school this will be flawless,” She said determined to prove him wrong, and then walked off to class.

“Wait! You are gonna a least try and focus and not use the sugar at all right!? Dipper yelled at her but she was already gone. “Well, I lost hope for her now.”

“Well look who it is.” Came a sneering voice from behind him.

Dipper turned around and saw 3 teens. 2 of them wearing the same outfit as each other, two black hoodies one was a boy with blond hair the other was a girl with black hair with a ponytail. The one in the middle of the two was the one who spoke. A chubby boy with brown hair and a grey t-shirt, he had a backward while cap on his head.

“If it isn't Pinecone boy.” He mocked Dipper.

Dipper rolled his eyes. “Oh. It's you. What do you want?”

“Got any new stories to tell the school about you and I quote “Big And Best Summer Ever”. He laughed at him.

Dipper ground his teeth. True he has mentioned before too many others about his time in Gravity Falls and all of the types of mysteries and creatures he faced along with Mabel but no one believed them they all thought it was some makeup fantasy story to get attention.

“I don't see the reason to retell anybody else what I know,” Dipper says unsmiling.

The chubby boy snicked. “You may think that you are so smart. But soon everyone will see the freak that you are!” He pulled Dipper's hair up to reveal his birthmark. A few school kids around the hall glanced at him some giggled at him while others walked past moving as fast as they could to get away from him. But most were having their conversation to even notice.

Dipper's confidence quickly changes to fear and embarrassment. He was very red. He looked all around him at the people who were tormenting him.

“I can tell why you hide that ugly piece of work, looks like a message to the world about you.” The chubby boy taunted.

“No one would ever like someone like you” he spat at Dipper

The black-haired girl chuckled. “If he tried to ask me out with that thing on his forehead I would have turned him down without hesitation.”

“YOU'RE ALL WRONG!” Dipper yelled. He was about to break down into tears. His eyes were starting to water.

“I have friends that know about my mark and they respect me for the person that I truly am!” Dipper claimed.

“And those friends of yours... maybe they are just as dumb as you, perhaps they are maybe you should go back to them.” He said as he pushed Dipper to the school floor hitting it hard. His books and pencils fell out of his hands as he fell. The bullies looked down on him for a moment.

“See you around Dipstain.” Then they turned and walked off to class.

Dipper still on the floor started sniffling. Dipper knew they were wrong. But felt as if he could never show his face to anyone with his birthmark. It has always made him insecure when the topic of his birthmark was brought up. Ever since they came back from Gravity Falls life has been complicated for Dipper and Mable. Dipper has shown many teachers that his skill with knowledge was brilliant, he was a top student at school. However, most kids found him a nerd in his imaginary world and a lot of people picked on him.

He finally came to his sense and picked up his belongings And moved off to class. He open the door to his class and saw everyone sitting down. They were kids chewing on gum leaning back in their chairs, some seem broad and were picking their noses while some were listening to the teacher. Dipper took his seat and opened his textbook and started writing. He still felt distracted by the conversation before really thinking.

The bell for the lunch break just rang. Students walked out of the classrooms chatting in the halls filled with voices. Dipper walked out of his class and made his way past the crowd of people toward Mabel's class. He reached the door to her classroom and decide to wait for her. He leaned back against the wall and waited. After several moments he was beginning to think she already left to go to the cafeteria. Dipper sighed and open the door and his eyes went big.

“Are you kidding me!” He yelled when he saw Mabel asleep drooling on the desk and pencils on the floor.

“Snock-what-is-is-it-over?” Mabel woke in alarm. She pulled out the Fizz Sparkles from her pocket. “I fell asleep before I could take power to get through the period.”

“Never mind that! Come on we are gonna miss out on the break!” Dipper complained as he pulled Mabel by the shoulder out of the classroom.

School finally ended. They missed the bus so all they could do was walk the long way back home down the streets. It was getting dark sun was just over the horizon dipping down slowly. Mabel was texting on her phone skipping down the path. Dipper hadn't stopped thinking about how they will finally be back in Gravity Falls tomorrow. He wondered how Soos was doing with hosting the Mystery Shack. Was everything going well as he dreamed? And what new mysteries and adventures will be on Dipper's way. After about 15 mins they arrived at their doorstep.

“Come out Waddles,” Mabel said as they walk inside. Waddle popped his head out from her backpack with an oinking sound.

“You brought Waddles to school again,” Dipper said a little annoyed but did not seem surprised.

“He gets lonely at home. Plus it is the last day soooo... nobody knows won't kill them.” Mable says.

She then just suddenly gasp. “I promise Grenda and Candy that I'll voice chat tonight! Talk tomorrow bro!” She called out as she ran up the stairs with Waddles still in the backpack and locked herself in her room.

Dipper had not spoken to any of his friends since they said goodbye last summer. No, that they wouldn't. Dipper did not have a phone at the time but Mabel helps Dipper catch up with the others by telling him after she had spoken to them on her phone.

It was getting late. With a yawn, Dipper went straight to bed.

Dipper was groaning, tossing, and turning in bed he was having a nightmare. One that involved Bill could hear him laughing and taunting him.

“No...NO...Augh!” Dipper shot up his eyes wide his body shaking. He looked at his hands sweating. Ever since summer had ended he has been having endless nightmares of Bill. Although he knew he was dead he can't escape the feeling of him coming back and hurting everyone he loves.

“No... Bill's dead. He was erased by Ford in Stan's mind. Everything is fine...” Dipper stared up at the ceiling with deep thought. Eventually, he drifted back to sleep and was sleeping soundlessly with no bad dreams to come.

June 1st, 2015

Mabel rushed out of the house with her backpack on and Waddles in her hands.

“Watch out boys 'cause Mabel is returning to Gravity Falls!!” She yelled up at the sky.

Dipper was in his room packing his clothes, journal, and sleeping bags into his backpack. He looks over at his desk. Wendy's hat and paper with all of their friend's signatures were on the desk. Dipper made a soft smile when he glanced at them.

“Dipper you coming?!” Mabel yelled from outside his bedroom window.

“Oh uh yeah I'm on my way!” He called out. Dipper grabbed Wendy's hat and put it on and snatched the signatures from the desk tucked them in his pocket and ran out the door.

Preston Northwest was sitting down at his desk reading through some reports rapidly pressing his pen in his hand. Ever since his family lost their money and mansion 3 years ago he has made it his mission to regain power and restore his families legacy. With help from Gideon Gleeful who sometime after the pines twins left Gravity Falls started an Enterprise called “Gleeful Industry” The company has claimed many possessions in Gravity Falls that including the lake in Gravity Falls, and particles of the woods. Preston joined forces with Gideon in hopes of reclaiming his lost money. They extracted any valuable goods such as timber from the woods they claimed or gems that were salvaged at the bottom of the lake that can be sold to the public. Preston got back 64% of his family's original fortune by working with Gideon which compared to most people doesn't seem that much. But he was a billionaire at first. So it was a lot of money but still not satisfying for him not yet.

A knock came from his office door. “No, thank you! I'm busy! Unless you have some update on the progress in the woods then don't bother me!” He yelled.

Whoever knocked on the door ignored him and open the door with a creaking noise Gideon stepped into the room.

“You!” Preston snared. “What is it?”

Now, now Preston Northwest” Gideon said calmly as he walked up to his desk. “I'm free to interrupt you as I please. After all, I am in charge of this place but since your reputation is a high class as is mine I was more than happy to give you a position of being 2nd place.

“2nd place?” Preston question. “That's what you call it?” He snaps his pen.

Gideon held his hands up to defend himself. “Hey, now I don't make the rules... I take that back. I am all about making lil old rules.” He giggled. “But the point is I gave your family control over the organization's production planning.”

“And I'm grateful,” Preston said but hardly meant it as he stood up with his hand behind his back.

“Every day more and more of our influence is spreading across town.”

Gideon starts to daydream hands on his face. “My I would love to be mayor. No one could hate me anymore. I'll be prised like a king!”

“Sheesh, I thought you retired from doing evil? Yet here we are, plotting with a sinister vibe.” Preston says.

Gideon turns his senses back to Preston. “Oh, I have! My desire is not destruction but perfection. Being a regular kid is hard. People still push you around. But let us think of the possibility of me becoming Mayor. I will create the life I've always dreamed of. I will treat the town with respect and they will return the favor. And if they don't well...hehe. We may not want to go into the details there. And what's your goal in all of this?”

To gain back what I lost. It's my ambition.” He responded grinding his teeth. “And lust for power.” He thought to himself.

Gideon sighed. “And ain't you feeling it now?”

Preston groaned with a little annoyance. “It's improving.” He responded coldly. “To say the least. But my end goal is on a larger scale.”

Gideon raised an eyebrow confused about that last sentence. “What do you mean?”

Preston waved his hands. “Forget it. That can wait. You didn't come in here just to gloat did you not?”

“Ah yes where are my manners.” Gideon took a seat in from of Preston's desk. “My buddies have just informed me on the phone that our mechanical facility is now complete. The one that has been in construction over the last 3 months since we demolished part of the woods for a place to build it.”

A spark of interest came across Preston's face. “Really. Then that means we-”

“We can design and sell any mechanical machine that will benefit the town.” Gideon finished for him. “Easy money, now dose that put a smile on your face.”

Preston wanted to agree with it dose but instead said. “I want your men to design any mechanical machine that will help the town and if they work put them on for sale.” He said as he sat back down in his chair. “And while you are at it. Have them develop drones and dispatch them across town.”

“Drones? Why?” Gideon question.

“Two reasons. One, I want drones that will track down anything of value collect them, and brought back to us. Second of all, I want security drones around our business in case anyone becomes suspicious and snoops around to try to expose us to our real agenda.” Preston explained leaning back in his chair and tapping his fingers.

“I see. Not very trusting people are we.” Gideon bowed his head. “Very well I shall attend to it tomorrow morning. I will take my leave.” He got up and made his way to the door.

“Hold on! Where are you going?” Preston asked.

Gideon looked over his shoulders at him “My day is over Mr. Northwest. I got places to be.” And with that, he left the office.

Dipper and Mabel were sitting in the back seats of the bus on their way to Gravity Falls. Nearly 3 years ago have passed since Weirdmagedeon fell to ashes and twins saying farewell to their greatest summer adventure. Mable and Waddles's heads were against each other asleep. Dipper had his hand on his chin looking outside the window at the sky and to the woods around him smiling.

Mabel began to stir beside him. “Are we there yet?” She muttered her eyes half-open.

“We crossed the border into the falls. We should be in town in 10 mins.” Dipper responded.

“Great!” Mabel stretched her arms out with a yawn. “I wonder what Soos has been working on in the Mystery Shack?”

Dipper laughed. “Know him he's following Stan's footsteps. Showing off fantasy creatures for his attraction.”

Both the twins chuckled at the thought.

“So here is my plan. Once we settle in I will start my “Flawless Teen Summer Romance” Mabel said excitedly as she pulled out a list of steps to take for any boys to fall for her. Also in her hand, she had a list of potential matchmakings. Dipper notice this and narrowed his eyes at the paper.

“I'm not listed for any of your matchmakings am I?” Dipper crossed his arms.

“Noooo.” She smirked. “But not yet. You see bro I've tried over and over again to hook you up with girls at school.”

“And every one of them either hated me, slapped me and the rest I hated back.” Dipper clarifies by tally marking with his fingers.

Mabel rolled her eyes in disappointment. “Come on surely there are girls that you liked.”

“Well yeah, but they're not...” He paused and then sighed. “They're not as cool as Wendy.”

Mabel's facepalm from hearing that last sentence. “Seriously Dipper it has been three years I thought you had finally moved on from Wendy.” She cried.

“I know it's just that I can't find anybody as cool as she is.” Dipper looked away from Mabel. “I've tried to move on. I try to but I can't find a girl to like me.

Mabel shook her head. “Dipper didn't you learn anything from that summer!” She said firmly. “You said yourself that you can't force someone to love. The best you can do is strive to be someone worthy of love.”

Dipper's eyes went wide with surprise as he stared at Mabel. “Where did you hear that from?” He exclaimed.

“Wendy told me” She answered. “And it is because of that I'm going to do the best at being a person worth loving by boys. Without harassing them so I thank you for that. But you Dipper still don't listen to yourself. Wendy is too old for you. And you know that. You need to find someone your own age. Just yourself around and perhaps eventually someone will start to like you.

Dipper was taking in her words. She was right.

“But what if I am friends with someone for a while and start falling for them but they don't have feelings for me?” He frowned.

“Well, then you know that they weren't the ones for you.” She responded softly. “Love some develops naturally without us even noticing.”

Dipper was in a long thought for a moment. He then smiled at her. He knew that the best thing for him to do was to move on things will be better. He will still be the best of friends with Wendy and that was all that is important. Soon or later he will find someone special to him.

“Thanks, Mabel I guess I was just-ow!” he was cut off when the bus pushed on the break with a steam screeching sound. The bus came to a halt.

“Hey what gives!” he yelled. He got up and stomped over the front of the bus and tapped the back of the bus driver's shoulder. The driver turned his head

“Yeah, hi, why did we stop? We can't be there yet.” He said with annoyance.

“There is a blockage here.” The Driver said bluntly. Dipper's interruption was irritating to him. Dipper stared out the window in from of him to see vehicles, bulldozers, and dumpster trucks operating by people blocking the road. Cranes pick up timber logs and place them in the back of trucks. As they were cutting down trees in the forest just off to the side of the road.

Dipper scanned the area with his eyes trying to work out what was going on. What the heck is going on here? He thought to himself. Why are these workers here and what for and who do they work for? As her was thinking he felt a nudge on his shoulder as Mabel came up beside him and pointed at one of the trucks. On its door was some kind of brand logo. They were able to read it out of the tile. “Gleeful Industries”.

Dipper grinned his teeth. “Gideon! I should have known.” he sneered.

“What is he up to now you think?” Mabel asked.

“If anything. No good.” Dipper said. Dipper turns back to the driver. “So how long will it be till we can move again.”

“Not for hours it would seem. It will be dark when we reach the town.” The Driver answered.

“Hours!” Dipper exclaimed. “Surely there's some other way to pass through?”

“Well if you won't get there quickly.” He started. “You can walk into the deepest and darkest part of the woods where no one ever ventures because of the terrifying horrors that await in there.” He said in a creepy tone that makes the hair at the back stick out as he pointed out the forest to the side of the road into the darkness. “But hey it's a free country you kid can do whatever you want.” He said dropping his tone entirely and back to his grumpy attitude. However, Dipper did not seem to notice since he stopped listening halfway through. There was a large wide grin on his face and he was feeling a little giddy.

“A part of the woods that no would venture into! This could be my big chance to write new discoverers in my journal!” He squealed. Then he rushed off the bus.

Mabel rolled her eyes in amusement. “Guess we will be taking our chance with the woods.”

“I would be careful if I were you.” The driver warned. “I come to pass here many times and I and passengers have seen sightings of a cloaked figure that prowls the woods here.”

“What?” Mabel nervously said shaking a little.

“Oh yes.” He went on seeming to enjoy telling this tale at the sight of her shivering. “And people in town claim to behave see the figure. Scarring them and stealing their possession. Some say that there is more than one. Small ones in cloaks”

Mabel held tightly to the hoodie she wore. “Has anyone seen its face?”

The driver shrugged. “No. A lot of victims feinted before they could see.”

Mabel gulped. She felt her blood drop and her breath heavily.

Sometimes had passed since Dipper and Mabel entered the forest. While the sun was still high in the sky the path ahead of them kept getting darker and darker. The trees were looming around them, the wind whispered in the air, and leaves were rustling by the wind. Dipper had his journal in his hand and was checking all around him for any signs of interest. Mabel kept looking over her should for any signs of danger. She was paranoid she looked from left to right up in the trees. She felt as though anything could sneak up and grab her at any point. Dipper looked around but could not find anything for documenting. Eventually, he was starting to give up on exploring and just headed straight for town.

“Dipper do you know where we are?” Mabel asked.

Dipper put his pen on his chin thinking. “Yes, I do you see that bush.” He said pointing at an oddly shaped bush. “That's the same bush we passed 8 mins ago.” Dipper then came to a realization. “Oh, we're lost...” He facepalmed.

Mable moaned and dropped to the ground face in the dirt. Dipper looked around for a plan to figure out where they were. When he looked up he had an idea.

“Hey, Mabel!” He shouted. Mabel still in the dirt lifted her head. “I have an idea.” He pointed up at the trees. “If I can get to the top of those trees I could get a good view and spot the town!”

She jolted up with some hope. “That could work.” She said.

Dipper unstrapped his belt and made his way to a nearby tree. “Good thing I've learned how to climb trees using my belt thanks to Wendy.”

Mabel looked confused. “Wait when did she teach you that?”

“Oh, she never did. But I examined her doing it and so I been practicing on my own.” He was confident. “Broke 4 ribs while doing it,” he whispered that last part so Mabel wouldn't be here.

He started climbing the tree. He was making progress but at a time would lose his grip and slid the tree a bit giving him a few yelps. Mabel stayed on the forest ground. She looked up at her brother hoping he wouldn't fall. But after several long minutes, Dipper was standing on top of a high branch. He peeked his head from out of the top of the trees leaves and sunlight fell on his eyes birds flew past him chirping. He then looked at his surroundings and he gasped as he looked out to see a familiar view. To the right side, there was a waterfall on the side of the cliff. Below the waterfall was a lake filled with large boats. And besides the lake not too far off he could see the town of Gravity Falls townsfolk walking down streets chattering, cars driving in and out of town. They were some new buildings that he did not recognize but he did not care. He chuckles with joy and happiness to see the place that felt like home to him. He glanced at the river just beside him. That river comes from the forest straight through town it can guild their town.

“Mabel!” Dipper called out down below him. “I see the town and I know how we can get there. We will follow the river channel up ahead! It will take us straight to town.”

“YIPEE!” Mabel cried out. But she immediately stopped when she heard the sound of snapping twigs from behind. Her mood changed to fear she look around in alarm.

“Who's there?” She called out into the darkness. But no one answered. She picked up a long stick and held it up in defense. Suddenly she heard rustling in some bush to her side. She held the stick in front of her.

“Stay back! I'm warning you! I may not look it but I can kick some butt.” She shrieked.

A small gnome with grey bread fell out of the bush onto the ground. He looked at Mabel and then panicked.

“Shembulock!” It cried out and fled back into the darkness and out of sight. Mabel sighed in relief and then burst out laughing at the fact shes jumping out at gnomes.

“Man I must be going crazy. Maybe that driver was crazy. I mean there's no cloak being in the forest.” As she was saying this to herself a tall figure in a raincoat stood motionless behind her.

After Mabel felt the presence of someone behind her she turned and screamed. The hooded figure removed the hood on his head revealing his face.

“Dipper!” She jumped backdropping the stick. “Don't that wasn't funny!” She shouted.

Then another Dipper's head popped out from the chest. “His name is not Dipper!” It answered.

Mabel shrieked with fear waving her arm around turned and ran. “This forest is crazy!” She yelled as her voice faded away.

“Ok, that hurt my feelings.” Said the second Dipper looking a little offended.

“We should probably go help her she will get lost out here.” Suggested the other Dipper.

The second Dipper sighed. “Fine.”

The two ran off in the direction where Mabel when and followed her.

“Mabel are you ok! I heard you scream.” Yelled Dipper who was still in the tree. After he did not get a reply he assumed that something was wrong. He took one step to climb down and stopped after realizing something important.

“ How am I gonna get down.” He said clinging to the tree.

Mabel and Waddles ran as fast as they could. They had no idea where they were going. All they knew was to get as far away as possible. Mabel looked behind to see if she was being followed. Not paying attention she ran face into a branch. Fell back on the ground all dizzy and was unconscious.

Sometimes had passed until she stir she groan and looked around in confusion. She was lying down in some old blankets that look like they haven't been washed in a while. She was in a cave filled with all kinds of items, books scatted on the ground, photos of Wendy sticking to the cave walls, bikes, a chest filled with money, and bags of chips.

“Oh good your awake.” called a familiar voice. Mabel turns her head to see 12-year-old Dippers in front of her.

“Dipper!” Mabel was surprised. The turn to look at the other Dipper raised an eyebrow. “And Dipper...”

“Why are there two of you? Why are you so young? And where am I?” Mabel panicked.

The Dipper with the #3 cap made a signal to calm her down.

“Ok, we will take the questions one by one. First off we are clones. Second of all, we don't age we are made of paper. Lastly your in our home base or cave whatever you want to call.” He answered.

“And our names aren't Dipper” The other Dipper spoke who had a #4 cap. “My name is Quattro.” He then pointed at his buddy. “This is Tracey.”

Tracey waved as his name spoke.

Mabel's jaw dropped. “Wait, wait, wait. You named yourself Tracey.”

“Why yes. Yes, I did it's a cool name.” Tracey clarified.

“You couldn't have picked a boy's name?” Mable asked.

“Speaks a lot about him dose it.” Quattro snickered.

“Hey!” Tracey yelled.

“It's fine. Relax I'm just having fun with sister.” Quattro reassured.

“Your the cloak figures that the Bus driver spoke of are you?” Mabel said knowing the answer.

“Cloak figures! Come on is that the best name they could come up with?” Quattro burst out a little irritated. “They could have a least call us “Raincoat Ninjas” or something.

“Wait raincoats?” Mabel was surprised.

“Well yeah we are made of paper so we wear them to protect us from getting disintegrating with water,” Tracey explained.

“So why did my brother create you two?” Mabel asked.

“Oh Dipper made us with Stan's copy machine 3 years ago so he could spend some time with Wendy and ask her for a dance,” Tracey explained rolling his eyes in disgust. The mention of Dipper was something he did not like to bring up.

“Ugh. Seriously was Dipper that obsesses back then.” Mabel slapped herself on the forehead.

Tracey and Quattro looked at each other confused.

“Back then? Is he not anymore?” Tracey asked. His face lit up with a thought.

“Wait does that mean Wendy is finally dating us!” he exclaimed.

“Uhhh...” Mabel started.

“This could be our big moment! We will steal Dipper's life and take her for ourselves.” Quattro said excitedly rubbing his hands.

“Guys...”

“Wait but how can we pretend to be a teenager to Wendy when we see her? She will be on to us when she sees how short we are and that fact there are two of us.” Tracey asked.

“Easy we will put on the raincoats. You be the bottom half and I'll be the top.” Quattro says.

“What! You just want to be the top half so you can be the one to kiss Wendy!” Tracey dispute.

“Well it's only fair I've worked the hardest for Wendy's approval!” He glared at Tracey.

“I've worked the same as you!” Tracey argued. The two both growled at each other eye to eye.

“SHUT UP!” Mabel screamed at the top of her lungs. The two clones jumped back in fright. Now they were too scared to speak.

“Dipper is not dating Wendy! She turned him down 3 years ago. He is moving on!” Mabel yelled.

Both the twins looked at her in shock and disbelief.

“She what?” Quattro was unable to take in what he heard.

“Oh, I know why,” Tracey said sharply. “Dipper classic did not follow with the plan.”

He took out a large list that seem endless.

“You see unlike him we keep track of anything that Wendy dislikes. We avoid being awkward, and sweaty. So we know how to win Wendy over.” He says.

“But you can't just take over Dipper's life!” Mabel protest.

“She's right Tracey we can't just take over his life he won't let us,” Quattro said putting a hand on his shoulder.

Mabel sighed in relief.

“That is why we are gonna kill him,” he added.

“What!” Mabel cried. “Why!”

“He killed all the other clones and would have killed us too if we were there with them. It is nothing personal sis just revenge for the clones. We kill him, replace him and finally, Wendy will be ours. See it's a win-win.” Quattro said.

“If you think I'm just gonna step aside and let you kill him you should think again,” Mabel argued.

Both the clone's eyebrows frowned and sighed with regret.

“We understand...”

Mabel found herself tied to a chair in the cave while Tracey was guarding her to avoid her escaping.

“Wow did not see that coming?” She said to herself.

Tracey slapped himself on the forehead for her stupidity. “How could you have not seen that coming!”

Quattro was back in the woods at the spot where they found Mabel before she ran off. He believed that Dipper would come back for her at any point. After walking around in circles for him there were no signs of anyone.

“Calling Tracey. No sigh of the subject.” He called out in disappointment to the walkie-talkie in his hand.

There was no response. He rolled his eyes and continued searching.

“Hello anybody lost! I have chips on me!” He yelled out holding out a bag of chips.

“Help I'm, stuck in the tree!” A voice called back.

Quattro looked and was surprised to see Dipper sitting on a branch gripping the tree.

“Wait Number 4? Is that you?” Dipper exclaimed realizing who it was.

“What are you doing up there?” Quattro asked.

“I was trying to figure out how to get to town so I went to get a better view and now I can't climb down,” Dipper explained.

“Can't climb down?” Quattro said in disbelief. “It's easy. Over the years of living in the forest, I have learned to climb trees and watch.” To prove his point he went up to the tree and began to climb from branch to branch. Soon he was sitting next to Dipper.

“Ok so you showed me how to climb the tree. Can you show me how to climb down?” Dipper demand.

“Pffff. Simple I take out my rope tie it to the branch and climb down.” He said.

“Did you bring the rope before you climbed up here,” Dipper asked through his teeth?

Quattro's eyes went big in shock. “I left it in the cave.”

Dipper screamed in distress.

“Wait I got it! I will just call Tracey on the talkie to ask him to bring it here!” He suggested. He took out the walkie-talkie.

“Tracey?”

“Help Tracey I'm stuck in a tree can you bring the rope!” He cried.

“Tracey? Tracey!”

Tracey had his eyes closed, headphones on his head listening to really loud metal rock music that completely drained out all sound around him.

“Too distracted listening to the same song on loop for the next 20 and a half minutes.” He sang under his breath quietly.

Mabel was trying to call out to him to pick up the talkie but could not get to him straggling in the chair.

_________________________

“Come on pick up!”

A small bird unintentionally hit the back of Quattro's head knocking him off balance, and losing his grip on the talkie it fell out of his hand. Dipper and Quattro both screamed as it smashed onto the forest floor.

“Welp. That's a no for him.” Quattro said in defeat.

He leaned back against the tree and sighed. There was an awkward silence for a long moment.

“Hey it's good to see you again Number 4.” Dipper smiled.

“The names Quattro. And why would you say that after you killed our friends.” Quattro coldly.

“They turned against me. I didn't have a choice!” Dipper tried to defend himself.

“Sure you didn't and I wasn't planning on killing you and taking your place to be Wendy's girlfriend,” Quattro said in a sarcastic tone.

“Are you mad!” Dipper freaked out.

“A little yes.”

“Ugh, god Mabel was right I was way too crazy over Wendy.” Dipper covered his face with his hands.

“Come on don't lie you still like her.”

“I do but you and I both know that she is too old for us. The whole thing has been a sickness that keeps on spreading. Look at yourself. You are going to the length to kill me just to try and be hers.” Dipper says.

Quattro gasped as he notice the hat the Dipper was wearing.

“That hat is...is that-?”

“Wendy's hat.” Dipper finished for him. He took it off and passed it over to Quattro. “We traded hats before we left Gravity Falls 3 years ago. To me, it's a token of our friendship. We can't be together. But the most important thing to have is a friendship that will never stop happening.”

Quattro was gazing at the hat thinking about everything Dipper was saying.

“So you just stopped going after Wendy? Just like that? After all your hard work?” Quattro asked softly still looking at the hat.

“I will admit that it has not been easy for me,” Dipper said regrettably. “I've tried working it out by asking out other girls.”

“Any luck?” Quattro smirked knowing the answer.

“Oh no it's been horrible” Dipper chuckled patting his back. Quattro laughed.

Come on tell me you guys have not tried to move on? Is there not like other goals that you and Tracey had in mind?” Dipper asked. He muttered, “that's his name?”

Quattro rolled his head and scratch his chin thinking hard. Surely they had some other idea to do with their lives. Finally, Quattro snapped his fingers.

“We have at the time wanted to work with Soos at the Mystery Shack after he took over!” He claimed.

“Wait you know that Soos owns the Shack now!” Dipper was surprised.

“Of course what did you think we lock ourselves off from the rest of the world? We have our ways to sneak around town. We hear whisperers and rumors about what's been happening without anyone being a were of us. Though at night we tend to scare the towns, and residents, with our raincoats without them knowing who we are. We take junk so we can decorate our cave. We stole a TV so we always keep up with the news around town” He says.

“I see. So why haven't you done that yet?” Dipper asked feeling interested.

“Because Wendy works there,” Quattro responded awkwardly and a bit disappointed. “I mean that you think that feels a little embarrassing?

Dipper groaned in annoyance but he choose to be calm and help Quattro with his issue.

“Forget about Wendy! This is what I'm trying to tell you! The more you think about your obsession this crush will only get worst. The best thing to do is work on what is best for yourself. On what makes you comfortable and happy!” Dipper bellowed.

Quattro shrugged. He bit his lip trying to think of what to say. What Dipper was saying was true. This impossible crush was making him feel sick and lost. He took out a photo from his pocket. A photo of him taking a selfie with Tracey playing the banjo in the background, their faces were shown them laughing with happiness. He gazed at the photo and finally gave a small smile.

“Dipper...” he trembled. “I think we need some help. I want me and Tracey to start a new life with new goals.”

Dipper smiled and patted his back. “Don't worry we can make it work. Our Great Uncle Ford may be able to find a solution to your problem.”

“Thanks, man,” Quattro says.

There was a squeal at the front entrance they all turn to see Waddles dashing. “Waddles!” Mable cried with joy. She ran to hug him.

“Oh, right I forgot that he was still with us,” Dipper said

Tracey was humming to the beats of the music he was playing.

Mabel was looking around for anything to throw at him to get his attention. But knew even if she found something it would be useless since she was strapped to a chair. She began to twist her right arm trying to pull it free from the rope. It was starting to feel loose with each struggle. Finally, she managed to pull her arm free from the rope. She began to hop with the chair over to Tracey with him noticing when she was directly in from him she swung her free hand hard across his face slapping him.

“OW! What now-?”

“Did you not hear? Your friend is stuck in a tree and needs a rope!” Mabel yelled.

“What? What! Oh god, he's gonna make me have it!” Tracey panicked as he threw off his headphones and picked up the talkie.

“Quattro sorry man. I'm on my way to bring the rope! Sit tight!” He called out. But got no response. This concern him but had no time to think about it. He looked around the cave for the rope.

“No. Nope. Where is it?” He searched through everything until he found out why he could not find the rope. He looked over to Mabel.

“I tied you up with the only rope we had.” realized used as he looked at the thing around Mable.

“Yep.” Mabel grinned.

“And Quattro needs?”

“A huh.”

“Which means I have to let you go?”

“Yes.” Mabel groaned getting annoyed by the conversation dragging.

“And you will try to me to save your bro?”

“OH MY GOD! Is Dipper really such a big deal to you?” Mabel burst out!

“I mean kinda. It is all part of the plan. Once Quattro captures him we will drown him in the river. And he will know what it's like to die by water!”

“Suffocating and disintegrating are two different things you know,” Mabel says.

“Whatever. Water is water!” Quattro yelled.

Mabel tried to think. There has to be something to change his mind. Then an idea came. Perhaps motivating him in some way could work.

“, Hey may I ask do you have any special skill or hobby that you are into.” She asked politely.

“Oh well, I do have one special talent.” He said proudly and flattered. He pointed at a banjo in the corner. “I have been into playing music with this banjo and I must say I have gotten quite good with playing.”

“Mind playing a bit for me? I would love that.” Mabel gave him some puppy eyes.

“Wow, that was a sudden change in your attitude but sure. I never played it to anyone else besides Quattro.” He smiled.

Dipper and Quattro were working together to get out of the tree. They ripped out vines that had been overgrowing the tree. They tied it into a noose. They waited for a chance to catch an eagle with it if one ever flew by them. Soon one came into a sigh and their hopes raised. Dipper held out the vine and began to swing it above his head getting ready to catch it.

“Just a little closer... and... NOW!” He threw the vine at the bird and manage to just caught it by its leg.

“Hang on!” He urged. As he was lifted off the branch Quattro yelped gripped around his legs. They were out of the tree flying in the air. The bird was flapping his wing wildly it jerked left and right trying to shake them off.

“What now? We can't force this thing to land for us.” Quattro panicked.

“Just wait until we are at a safe distance to jump to the ground,” Dipper said promptly holding tight to the vine.

Soon the bird came flying above the river. Quattro felt his arms around Dipper's legs starting to slip.

“I can't much longer” He struggled. The bird was still trying to shake them off. One last twist, causes Quattro to lose his grip on Dipper. He screamed for his life as he plummeted towards the water.

“Dipper! HEEELLLLPPPP!” He cried as he continued to fall.

Dipper gasped he knew that if he hit the water he would be doomed. “I'm coming!”

He tugged desperately on the vine to provoke the bird to fly down. It worked too well the bird plunged its way down with terrifying speed. As soon as Dipper hit the ground the noose fell off the bird's foot and flew away.

Dipper looked around frantically. He spotted Quattro in the middle of the river who was lucky to land on a log that was drifting down the stream. He was clinging to it with all of his strength. One wrong move and he would fall into the water.

Dipper ran ahead for a good position to cast the vine out to him.

“Quattro catch the vine and tie it to the log! I will pull you in” He called out to him. Quattro nodded fearfully.

Dipper threw out the vine towards him. Quattro barely caught it with one hand. He ties it around the front of the log and secures it. On the other end, Dipper began to pull him to the bank carefully. Quattro's log hit the edge of the river Dipper held out his hand to him he accepted it and Dipper pulled him up to safety. He let go of the vine once he was onshore and let it drift away with the log down the river.

“Dipper?” he breathed as he collapsed onto the grass. “Thanks for a moment I thought I was done for.”

“Does this makes us even I hope,” Dipper asked?

“It does. I just hope the same can be said about Tracey” Quattro says.

Dipper and Quattro walked through the woods towards the two Dipper's clone's cave. It wasn't very long till they found it since Quattro knew where it was, they walked inside.

“Tracey, we need to talk-what?” Quattro started to speak but was surprised to see Tracey playing his banjo to Mabel who was untied from the chair and was happily clapping to his music. They were both laughing with joy. When he turned to see Dipper and Quattro at the entrance he did not seem shocked scared or even angry. His face looked happy to see them.

“Dipper, Quattro there you are! You would not believe the time I and Mabel have been having. While you have been gone she has been listening to me playing the banjo! was impressedress with how I play and ask me if there were any life dreams besides Wendy!” Tracey said excitedly holding his banjo.

“Tracey was telling me how you guys want to work at the Mystery Shack but haven't because you're scared of Wendy!” Mable says.

“However Mabel told me that-.”

“The more we think about our obsession with Wendy the worst it gets. We should work on what is best for ourselves and everyone else.” Quattro finished for him.

“Yeah, and the more I think about she is right. It made me rethink everything we have been planning. We have been acting silly this whole time. I mean we were about to drown Dipper in the river. Tracey says.

“What!” Dipper yelled.

“Nothing.” Tracey shrugged. “But the point is we should take this chance to be our personal and work for Soos. Customers would be amazed at us. I play my banjo to the audience. We could even start earning our own money!”

“So you two gonna go for it?” Dipper asked.

Tracey and Quattro both thought for a moment both looked at each other.

“Yes. But not today we still got work that needs to be done. But when that time is done we will be ready.” Quattro softly responded.

Dipper nodded with respect. “I understand. But if you need help at any time come and find us.”

“BRO HUG!” They shouted embracing in a hug. It was only for a second before they step back.

Then Dipper remembered something before they walked into the cave.

“Hey, Quattro didn't we get stuck in a tree while these two were having a great time?” Dipper said sharply crossing his arms.

“Uh oh,” Tracey said quietly.

“What right did you not hear me yelling to you? Or did you forget?!” Quattro steamed.

“Are a bit of both...” Tracey chuckled nervously. He then yelp as he turned and ran around the cave trying to avoid Quattro who was chasing him furiously.

After Dipper and Mabel said their goodbyes to Tracey and Quattro. They made it through the forest and began to walk beside the river downwards to town. After 20 minutes of walking finally coming into view was the first set of houses as they reached town. They step out onto the street pathway. The street was filled with many people some were walking past muttering to each other. Cars were driving past. Dipper and Mabel notice many familiar buildings as they walked past. The Gossiper's building, the TV station, the arcade, and the laser tag. There was one building that was new to Dipper he stared at a large wide squared building surrounded by a tall fence with barbwire and security cameras. It looked like a building for some type of organization Dipper thought. But then he read a logo on the corner side of the building. “Gleeful Industries”.

Dipper glared at the large building with suspicion as he pass. He wondered what type of secrets are being kept within those walls. And are their intentions good?

Mabel checked her phone for any unread messages.

“Soos says he will pick us up at the front of Greasy Diner,” Mabel said.

“Good. Say you don't think we should worry about Gideon again do you? He asked not looking at her.

“I hope not. But remember that he said he wanted to change from his evil side.” Mabel says.

“And do you think he has?” Dipper raised an eyebrow at her. Mabel shrugged feeling unsure.

“Don't know, but if he tries anything funny we will just kick his butt like we always have,” Mabel assured slamming her fist into her palm.

“I guess,” Dipper said still uncertain.

Mabel began to text Candy and Grenda.

Mabel: Hey Candy and Grenda we are gonna be at the Shack soon. SEE YOU THERE “hug emote”

Candy: Grenda is out of town with Marius for now Mabel but I'll be here waiting for you!

Mabel: Okie Dokie! You can tell me all about that when I'm there!

They continued on. The sun was sliding behind the trees though it was still the afternoon it won't be long till it was dark. They reached the outside of the Diner they sat down on the side path waiting for Soos.

“I can't wait to get back into solving mysteries with the team again!” Dipper said excitedly.

“Maybe now you can start working on your journal number 2,” Mabel says.

“Are you kidding Mable I've barely written anything in it since we left here? I have been dying to start my research again!” Dipper says.

“Then let's just hope that Uncle Ford has saved you a few to discover,” Mabel added.

“Well if it isn't city boy and his twin sister.” Called a voice behind them. The twins turned to see Durland and Bluds The deputy and sheriff of Gravity Falls.

“It's been a while since I've seen you two now you've gotten bigger. How have you been?” Bluds grinned.

“I have been doing good. Dipper is well waiting for things to be better.” Mabel happily ignored Dipper's stare.

“Well guess being a teenager is tough times,” Bluds said bluntly.

“What about you two?” Mabel asked.

Durland and Bluds exchange nervous glances at each other.

“Well, the business has been complicated since Gideon took over,” Durland explained.

“Took over!” Dipper exclaimed furiously.

“Well not like took over the town.” Bluds clarify. “As you would have seen he has started a business of his own. And he has been getting more in control over the Falls.”

Mabel looked at Dipper they were both thinking terrible things Gideon could be up to and they have seen how much power he seem to have now.

“Now there has been no sign of any evil schemes from him,” Bluds added. “But his work makes our job difficult since he ranks high than us now in only a few years soon. The kid must have some black magic.”

“Wouldn't surprise me,” Dipper said dully. “So what are you doing now?”

“We are on our day off so we are grabbing food at the diner for the end of the day,” Durland said tapping his tummy.

“With that, we will be seeing you” They both left the twins opened the door the bell rang as they entered and went inside.

“They don't seem like they have changed all too much,” Dipper said to Mable.

“Perhaps not many people here have,” Mabel claimed. Waddles grunted in her lap.

They heard the sound of someone calling out their names they both looked down the road and grasped with joy to see Soos driving in the golf cart waving to them he parked the cart right beside them. Dipper and Mable got up and Soos hopped out of the cart to hug the two of them.

“I wasn't sure I would recognize you after three years!” Soos sobbed.

“We missed you too Soos! You gotta tell us all that has been happening with you!” Dipper says.

“I will tell you on the way back now get your stuff into the back of the cart so we can leave,” Soos says.

“But we are at the diner don't you wanna grab some food before we go?” Dipper asked pointing at the diner with his thumb.

“Another time. Everyone is waiting for you at the Shack.” Soos answered

A little disappointed Dipper agreed Mabel went to the back and began to throw her stuff onto the cart. Dipper looked back at the diner one last time but then froze as he gazed into one of the windows in the diner he saw a waitress with a notepad and pen out taking orders at a guest's table. He gave a start when he realized who it was. Pacifica Northwest.

“Pacifica, Fries for table 18 are ready!” Lady Susan called out from the kitchen.

“Coming Susan!” Pacifica called back to her. She glanced out the window and noticed Dipper was watching her. Her eyes scanned his appearance and his face trying to find out why he seemed familiar. Then she gasped with astonishment dropping the notepad in her hand and letting it fall to the floor. Paralyzed her face was filled with shock and disbelief.

“Dipper...” She trembled at her word. Dipper has returned. The boy helped her overcome her struggle against her parent's control over her and taught her the value of just looking like herself. He was here and now no longer 12 but a 15-year-old teenager.

Dipper gave her a small but genuine smile and slowly waved back to her.

“DIPPER! You coming?!” Mabel called out to him in the cart seat. Dipper snapped back into reality.

He cleared his throat. “Ugh yeah, I'm just grabbing my bag.”

Mabel looked up to see what he was staring at. “Oh hi, Pacifica sorry me, and Dipper will catch up with you later!” Mabel exclaimed waving her arms fanatically at her.

Pacifica rolled her eyes irritated by her interruption.

Dipper placed his bags on the back of the cart took a seat next to Mabel, and Soos started the cart and drove off.

Pacifica watch as the cart moved away.

“Where are my fries at!” Yelled a man angrily at a table nearby.

Pacifica glared at him. “They're on the way.” She said abruptly.

“What you and Melody are married now!” Mabel exclaimed.

“It happened 6 months ago. Guess I forgot to mention that to you two.” Says Soos as he was driving.

“I wish we could have been there. I would have made a good bridesmaid.” Mabel said in disappointment leaning back in her seat.

“So how's the shack going?” Dipper asked.

“Business is going well. I've been creating my own fantasies and displaying them at the shack to attract tourists.” Soos responds. “I think a lot like my stuffed rattlesnake.

“And now I feel sorry that I asked,” Dipper muttered. “So our rooms are the same as we left them?”

“Don't worry dude. It will be like if you never left.” Soos takes out some blindfolds from his pocket. “Put these on.”

“Why do we need to be blindfolded?” Dipper questions as he and Mabel take the blindfolds.

“For the surprise.” Soos grinned.

“Oooo I love surprises!” Mabel giggled as she put hers on. Dipper sighed and decided to put his on.

They could see nothing. They felt the cart turn left and right bumping up and down. Not long after the cart came to a stop.

“Keep the folds on,” Soos told them as he stepped out of the cart and guided Dipper and Mabel.

Soos rubbed his hands together. “Ok on three dudes. 1...2...3!”

Dipper and Mabel took off their blindfolds and gasped. They were in the backyard of the Mystery Shack.

“SURPRISE!” All of their friends screamed out letting out confetti with a loud pop. They gathered together to greet the twin's return. Stan, Melody, Wendy, Thompson, Lee, Nate, Robbie, Tambry, Candy, and McGucket. A banner logo that spelled out “WELCOME HOME PINES!” was above them. They set up tables with popcorn, chocolate and cake, and soft drinks. Balloons were tied to seats.

“Oh, you guys you shouldn't have” Mabel was overwhelmed placing her hands on her face. She ran up and hugged Candy. “Candy!”

“I'm very happy to see you too Mabel!” Candy smiled while she hugged her back.

“Why does she get the first hug?” Stan complained.

“Grunkle Stan!” Both Dipper and Mabel cried. Mable let go of Candy and embraced Stan in a hug along with Dipper.

The hug was tight but Stan laughed happily. “Alright! I missed you too you knuckleheads.”

“But where is Uncle Ford?” Dipper was worried as they pulled apart. Then there was a loud Ka-BOOM from within the Shack. Making Dipper and Mabel look in the direction of the sound.

“He's busy right now. But he will be up here in a few minutes.” Stan said trying to get them to ignore the sound.

“But enough about that go join the party and have fun.” He encourages and push the two twin towards the crowd. The guest spread out into small groups chattering with each other. Some sat down at the tables eating food. Dipper awkwardly walked up to Wendy.

“So it's been a while has it huh. It's good to see you.” Dipper chuckled nervously to Wendy as he held out his hand to shake.

Wendy rushed up to hug him. Dipper smiles and hugs her back. Then Wendy gets Dipper into a headlock and starts rubbing her knuckle into his head. “Gotcha dude. Nowhere to run!”

“Haha ow. Ok, you got me. I missed you” Dipper laughed. Wendy set him free and pulled back.

“I did too. Look at you. You the same age I was when I first met you. But to me, you will still be that 12-year-old boy looking for trouble in that book.” Wendy smirked crossing her arms.

Dipper blushed. “Ha, thanks. Say where is my cap?”

“Back at my place,” Wendy answered. She looked at the hat on Dipper's head. “I see you a cling to mine hat.”

“Oh yeah I fingered since today I was coming back I should wear it for the day,” Dipper says.

“That's nice. Now come join the party the food isn't going to eat itself.” Wendy said patting him on the shoulder and walking off to join Thompson and the others.

Dipper smiled as he looked around. It felt good to know that the people he met here missed him and were kind enough to throw them a party.

“Dipper?” A voice called out to him. He turns to see Mabel with her hand on his shoulder. “We should take this chance to enjoy the company and relax.”

“Yeah we should,” Dipper said quietly.

“My, my look who it is. Sorry, I'm late.” Said a voice. A familiar Southern American accent voice.

Dipper and Mabel turn around and their eyes went wide when they saw Gideon Gleeful standing before them.

“Gideon!” Dipper stepped back in shock.

“Dipper Pines what I delight.” Gideon held out his hand to shake. Dipper was reluctant at first but eventually grabbed his hand and shake it. Lasted for a second before pulling away.

“Hello Gideon,” Dipper added naturally without many expressions.

Gideon's eyes moved over to Mabel gazing at the sight of her. “Oh, my dear Mabel I've missed you most of all. I think about you every day. And you seem to grow even more beautiful every time.” he smiled.

Mabel groans in disgust. “Well that side of you still hasn't changed.” she glared at him.

“Sorry I got too carried away there it has been some time since I last saw you that I just couldn't contain myself.” Gideon giggled as he tighten his tie. “But I must say the look of spears that I see in your eyes is a feature of yours that I'm starting to like” He smirked raising both his eyebrows at her.

“Why are you here Gideon?” Dipper demand trying to move the conversation away from Mable.

Gideon turns away from Mabel to look at Dipper. “The same reason that everyone else is here. To welcome you back to the falls. I did tell you the last time we met that I wanted to change over a new leaf did I not?”

“And did you?” Dipper crossed his arms unconvinced

“As a matter of fact, I did.” Gideon dispute. “Though it hasn't been easy at first. Being just a regular kid is tough to find a purpose. So eventually I used a bit of my fortune to start a business of mine. I hired my old prison buddies to work with me to begin on my new goal in life.”

“Really? And what's that?” Dipper said tilting his head and showing a bit of distrust.

“Being a leader of this town without any desire to conquer,” Gideon said proudly. “I wish to help make this town a better place for people to live in.”

Dipper and Mabel glared at him in disbelief still arms crossed. Gideon could tell by their expressions that they still would not believe he could change. But he understands. Why would they after every horrible thing he has done to them and the town? To Gideon, it felt like a scar that would not heal. It scared him. He started to tremble.

“Look you don't have to trust me on anything.” He began boldly turning to his side clutching his fists kept his eyes on the twins trying not to show his feelings were slightly hurt. “But I am doing my best to show that I can change.”

He turned his back to the twins and closed his eyes he paused for a moment. “And... I missed you Pines.” He choked.

Dipper and Mabel glanced at each other. They did not know what to think. It seemed as though Gideon was about to cry. They never seem this side of Gideon before. Perhaps he was trying to do better person but the only way to know is to give him a chance.

Dipper opened his mouth preparing to speak but was cut off as Mabel was the one he spoke to. “Gideon if you want to prove yourself then you can start by joining us for some cake and water balloon fights.”

Gideon opens his eyes and turns to look at her. “Really?” He seemed touched by her words.

“Just don't get too comfortable around me ok!” She quickly added.

Gideon giggled. “Of course.”

“And be warned if you do try your old tricks again we will take you down again.” Dipper followed up and gave him a sign that he meant it.

“Hmph. I see you are still stubborn as ever.” Gideon gave him a weak smirk. “But I understand you clearly.”

Another bang came from the shack. The front door opened letting out smoke Ford emerge out from within the black mist coughing.

“God dang it!” He said to himself brushing the smoke away.

“And that must be my queue to leave.” Gideon considered. Waved bye as he move away from Dipper and Mabel into the crowd to join the rest of the party.

“UNCLE FORD!!!”

“Dipper, Mabel is that you?”

The twins rushed up to give Ford a big hug together. Ford wrapped his arms around the two of them.

“You kids have gotten taller since I last saw you” Ford laughed.

“Uncle Ford I've been so excited to get here and solve more mysteries. While I was gone I've been dying to write more in my journal.” Dipper said excitedly taking out his book.

“I like your motivating Dipper but that can wait for another day.” Ford smiled seeming impressed. “But for now I suggest you join the party. We will talk more later on.”

Dipper wanted to argue but decide against it. “Alright.”

“OH Uncle Ford you should come to join us in a water balloon fight.” Mabel requested tugging on his jacket.

Ford shrugged. “Thanks, Mabel but party games ain't my thing.”

“But you are gonna love it. It helps you feel refreshed.” Mabel encouraged. She then grabbed Ford by the hand and dragged him towards the party.

“Oh now come wait a second.” Ford started.

Dipper rolled his eye and smirked. “There is no way of getting off this my dear uncle.”

By the time the sunset over the mountains and stars sparkled in the sky. Most of the guests have left the shack. Gideon returns home his suit soaked with water. Wendy and her family went back to their cabin shortly afterward. Ford after spending time with the kids went back down to the basement to work. Dipper and Mabel were excited to get to their rooms. The twin walked upstairs with Stan, Soos, and Melody, Mabel carrying Waddles. They reached their door opened it and walked inside.

“Still hasn't changed just the way I like it,” Dipper said as he looked around the room.

Mabel walked over to her bed and placed her bags on the floor and put Waddles on the ground. Dipper put his bags beside his bed and sat on his bed.

“I have been using this room as a storage,” Soos told them at the door. “But I cleared it out for you guys.”

“Now I'm sure you two will be too excited to be getting some sleep,” Stan said to the twin beside Soos. “But if you want to make the most out of your days a reckon you should hit the hay.”

“Goodnight you two.” Said Melody her hands around Soos.

“Night!” The twins said back. “Thanks for the day,” Mabel added.

Stan, Soos, and Melody closed their door. Dipper turned off the lights and laid in bed with his book out writing about his day. Mabel set her head on her pillow with Waddles curled up at the end of her bed. By the time Dipper was done writing and placing his book on the desk he fell back onto his bed and tried to sleep. After a few mins past, something was aching him at the back of his mind.

“Hey, Mabel?” He whispered.

“Yeah?” Mabel answered from across the room.

“A lot was going on today that I forgot to tell you. Last night I had a dream about Bill.” Dipper told her.

“Another one?” Mabel said quietly. “It has been a while since you've had one of those.”

“But what if it is a sign?” Dipper was anxious. “What if he comes back?

“That's not possible.” Mabel denied. “He's dead Dipper... erased from existence in Grunkle Stan's mind. It could just be a regular nightmare.”

Dipper went silent for a few moments staring up at the ceiling. “I guess... I hope so.” Dipper said still not convinced.

With a yawn, Mabel closed her eyes and fell asleep snoring cutely. Dipper rolled over to his side facing the wall his mind overfilled with thoughts.  Is Bill truly gone? What if he returns. He could continue to destroy. He could want revenge on himself, his family, and everybody he loves.  These words keep repeating in his head over and over for what seemed like hours until sleep finally came to him.
