Work Text:

“Okay, everyone, round up! It’s time for some party games!” Mina’s cheerful voice echoed throughout the common area. “Sit in a circle!” She was the official party director for their first long weekend in many weeks. She, Kaminari, and Hagakure had organized snacks, music, games, and decorations.

Todoroki sat near Izuku, who was flanked by Shinsou. Then Iida, Uraraka, Asui, Momo, Jirou, Hagakure, Kaminari, Kirishima, a reluctant Bakugo, a standing Mina, Sero, Ojiro, Koda, Tokoyami, Shoji, and finally Sato, who closed the circle next to the half hot-half cold teen. Shouto leaned down to his friend and inquired about what type of game they would be playing, given his lack of social experiences. Unfortunately, Izuku couldn’t give him any insight.

“Name of the first game is Never Have I Ever. Hagakure, darling, you have the marshmallows?” A huge bag of marshmallows floated towards them, each person receiving ten before the invisible girl returned to her seat. “Rules are simple. We take turns in a circle and state something we’ve never done. If you have done it, you eat a marshmallow. Truth is expected!” The laugh she gave was more of a cackle to Izuku’s ears. “I’ll go first! Never have I ever…” she paused for dramatic effect, “travelled out of Japan!”

Several students groaned as the first marshmallow was eaten. Aoyama, who had traded his for cheese, gave a very audible lament of his glittering travel experiences. The turn shifted to Sero. “Never have I ever used my quirk in a, ahem, physical experience. If you know what I am.”

“What does he mean?” Todoroki’s question to a bright red Izuku was heard throughout the entire class.

Shinsou sighed. “He means using it in a sexual manner.”

“People do that?”

Mina winked at the tape hero. “Oh, I’m sure Sero has many options in that regard.” Her eyes lit up. “Kami, did you just eat a marshmallow?” All attention turned to the loud blond, who didn’t even flush.

“Nothing wrong with a little spark in the bedroom.” Narrowed eyes scanned the room. “Oh ho ho! Looks like I’m not the only one. Miss Vice President!” Momo blushed and ducked her head, long hair shielding her from view of the others. “I’m a little surprised it’s only us. I’m sure that Todoroki, Tsuyu, and Shoji for sure could find interesting uses for theirs.” He punctuated this with a wink. “But I ramble! Ojiro, you’re next.”

The next few turns passed rather uneventfully, no one quite as brave as Sero. Too soon it was Todoroki’s turn, who was pensive for a moment before stating his. “Never have I ever had a functional family.” Iida choked on his orange juice at that statement. Shinsou, Izuku, Ojiro, and Tokoyami were the only ones who did not consume a sweet that round.

Izuku sputtered for a moment, struggling to come up with one, before flushing bright red. “Never have I ever confessed to someone.” Koda and Todoroki were the only two others who had not done that before, apparently. Iida, Uraraka, Asui, Momo, and Jirou kept things relatively easy in terms of admitting to actions. Hagakure, if anyone could have seen, was giving an evil grin that could rival Aizawa’s creepiest.

“Never have I ever been caught with a hickey!” She exclaimed.

“Not fair! No one could see if you had one!” Mina called out while she lifted a marshmallow to her mouth. Izuku’s eyes took in the number of classmates that apparently had been caught with a hickey and felt like he was once again lagging behind his classmates.

Kaminari took up the mantle. “Never have I ever… Wait, no, I’ve done that. Darn it would’ve been interesting to see who else had… But alas! Hm. Never have I ever… wait, no done that, too.” He paused when giggles floated around the room. “Aha! Never have I ever had a crush on Bakugo.” He grinned as he met Kirishima’s eyes, who shrugged with a smile and silenced the shouting blond in question with a kiss before popping a marshmallow into his mouth. Few noticed Izuku slip one as well, too busy jeering at the couple in the spotlight.

The redhead grinned. “Never have I ever kissed a girl.” Most of the class grumbled at that one, some with dangerously few treats left.

Bakugo gave a dangerous glint. “Never have I ever failed to study for a test.” Izuku, Todoroki, Iida, and Momo were the only ones that abstained.

Mina smirked maniacally. “Never have I ever wanted to do more than kiss someone in this room.” Koda and Iida were the only two who didn’t consume anything, Izuku noted as he willed his blush away.

“Mina, it looks like a few people are out already!” Hagakure crowed from across the circle. “I think it’s time for Truth or Dare!”

“Oh, fuck this shit. C’mon shitty hair.” Bakugo stood and grabbed his boyfriend’s arm, dragging him from the room to the booing and heckling of his classmates. Izuku nervously glanced at his friends, though he seemed to be the only one freaking out. Koda also dismissed himself, and the circle tightened up.

“Alright so you can only pick the same response twice in a row before you have to change it. You are allowed to opt out of a question or dare, but only twice. What happens in the circle stays in the circle. No secrets shall be revealed, no awkward dares mentioned. If anyone takes issue with that, they are free to leave.” She stared each person down. “Momo, for fairness’ sake, a bottle please?” Once the bottle was placed in the center, the pink girl continued. “Okay, so the person who had to respond/act is the one to spin to determine the victim.” Everyone nodded and eyed the bottle that she spun. It pointed at Jirou, who spun it again. This time, it landed on Izuku. “Alright, so Jirou asks our green bean here.”

“Truth or Dare, Midoriya.”

“Um, truth?” He anxiously fiddled with his shirt.

“Describe your first crush.”

He stared at the ground. “I don’t really need to, I guess. It was Kacchan.” He leaned forward, ignoring the many follow up questions. The bottle twirled in front of them, landing on Kaminari. “Truth or dare?”

“Dare!” He had a twinkle in his eye.

“Oh, um.” Izuku struggled to come up with a dare. “I dare you to make your profile picture on social media the worst picture you have on your phone.”

The game passed smoothly, at least until Sero was asked to list anyone in the class he’d had a crush on. The dude laughed. “At some point in time, since the year has started, I have had a crush on Kirishima, Momo, Shoji, Sero, Todoroki, Midoriya, and Uraraka.” He shrugged. “We have a ton of beautiful people in the class, but I think those are the only ones I had more than a passing thought for.” The bottle landed between Kaminari and Mina. “How do we want this to work?”

Jirou spoke up. “Why don’t they both have to answer the same truth question?” Everyone murmured their agreement.

“Sure. Okay you two freaks, who in the class has the best ass?” Iida gave him a slight scolding, but still attentively faced the two victims.

“Well, okay. Here’s the thing.” Kaminari began. “I can’t just pick one person, you know? Like, I’m not huge into girls, but Mina’s got booty. And for the guys? You’re all muscular and toned af. If I had to pick top three, I think I’d say Midoriya, Shinsou, and Iida.”

Mina laughed. “Thanks, boo. I mean, Uraraka and Momo are both fine. If I picked amongst our guys… I think I’d agree with Midoriya and Iida, because they do so much with their legs, like damn you two are built, but Bakugo ain’t half bad either.”

“Don’t let Kirishima hear you talking about his man like that.” Jirou teased. Both Midoriya and Iida were sputtering and bright red. The group ignored their flustered reactions, and after a quick game of rock, paper, scissors, Kaminari spun the bottle. Todoroki was the next victim.

“Truth.”

“Who is the most attractive person in class?” Kaminari continued the line of thought.

“Midoriya.” There was no hesitancy, no stuttering, just the clear pronouncement of his name, like it was the only choice. Midoriya buried his bright red face in his arms and knees, but it didn’t stop the tips of his eyes from revealing the fluorescent shade he had turned.

Shinsou chuckled. “What do you say about that, Izuku?” Unintelligible mumbling was the only response.

“I mean, he’s got a point.” Uraraka chimed in. “If I liked guys, you’d definitely be in the top three of the class for that.” More undecipherable words. “I’m pretty sure everyone here would agree.”

“Your sunshine smiles banish shadows and provide warmth, yet you embrace the darkness within us all.” Tokoyami stated.

A high-pitched noise came from the trembling ball that was once a functioning teenager. “Next please!” The rounds continued, students getting more flustered and open as the time slipped by. Strange dances were recorded, weird tasks completed, and a lot of confessions spilled. By the time the clock had struck 2am, Shinsou had a boyfriend in Kaminari. How Momo used her quirk in the bedroom was revealed. And Izuku’s crush on his friend was made known before he fled to his room, little green sparks flashing off his legs.

The crowd dispersed at this display of discomfort, following Iida’s instructions to clean up the common areas before heading off to bed. While moving the couches back to their proper places, Shinsou tapped Todoroki’s shoulder. “I think you should go talk to him. Otherwise, he’ll just fret himself into an anxious mess about what happened and what you think of him.” The barest hint of a frown showed on the teen’s face. “Izuku is one of the most observant and yet oblivious people I’ve met. You are clearly into him, but his anxiety won’t let him see that. Don’t worry about down here, we’ve got it. Go.” He gently shoved the other teen to the stairwell.

Shouto took the stairs quickly, worry swirling in his gut with what his lavender-haired classmate said. Did he really not know how amazing he was? He replayed the reactions the smaller boy had had to all the compliments and his frown grew. He knocked on the boy’s door. “Izuku? Can I come in?” He paused. “Please?” The door creaked open, and Shouto saw a bundle of blankets resituate itself on the bed. He calmly sat on the floor, leaning his back against the bed, facing a wall of All Might faces. It was silent a beat. “Why did you run away?”

A cracked voice rumbled from under the blankets. “Didn’t want them to see.”

“See what?” Izuku mumbled something, but the layers of blankets prevented it from being understandable. “What did you say?”

Izuku made a hole in the blankets near his mouth, just enough to prevent the words from being muffled. “Didn’t want them to see me get rejected.” He burrowed deeper into his cocoon, resisting the urge to hyperventilate. “Please still be my friend.” His watery voice, muffled as it was, was loud enough for the other teen to hear.

“Why would I reject you?” Todoroki sounded genuinely confused, and Midoriya poked his head out, looking at the fine hairs that appeared pink from blending together during the evening.

“You’re… you’re you!”

“And you’re you.”

“Exactly! I’m just… just me. A loser who can’t control his quirk and is plain looking. You… you could have anyone. You’re smart and talented and gorgeous and… and why would you want someone like me to be around you? I still can’t believe you’d even want to be my friend.” A few sobs escaped while he spoke, words flowing like rapids with random fluctuations.

Shouto shifted a little, still not looking at his friend, knowing the attention would make him more uncomfortable. “You got your quirk late and yet already learned and mastered so much of it. You did in under a year what it took me several years to do. You have the most amazing, expressive eyes, and these little freckles that make me think of stars, and a smile that could probably change villains into good guys. You are strong and brave; you stood up to my father and pushed me to succeed. I’m socially awkward. I don’t understand a lot of things that everyone else does. You… you’re patient with me. You’re kind and determined, and I really like you.” He finally turned to face the bed and caught the other’s eyes. “Izuku, you are amazing. And it would be a privilege to be with you.”

Tears streamed down his face. “O-okay.”

“Do you want a hug?”

“Yes please.” Izuku scooted over, making room for his friend boyfriend on the bed. Warm and chilly arms embraced him, and Izuku let the tension melt away as he curled into the other teen. He started drifting off, the feeling of fingers running through his hair relaxing him until he became a dead weight on Todoroki’s body. The teen in question smiled and adjusted the two to be more comfortable before letting himself fall asleep as well.

“Is it just me or was Aizawa-sensei glaring at me extra today?” Kaminari loudly whispered to his pink friend.

“Oh, definitely. But not just you! I think he was giving Todoroki a similar treatment.” She grinned. “I wonder who spilled the beans about the new relationships.” Kaminari paled and mouthed the words I’m dating Aizawa’s son. Both turned to look at their teacher’s sons, oblivious to the treatment their significant others were receiving.
