Chapter Text
When all is gone and nothing remains, never forget the reason why you were here in the first place. And even if you are in an moment of uneasiness, never compromise, not to death or even the Armageddon.
Unknown, discovered in a diary hidden in Gravesfield Library
Dark was all Luz saw, and on the darkness was wetness. Was it water, or something else? She did not care what is was, and only looked around. And then she saw a bright light, which felt like the only logical thing to do is walk towards it. And so, she stood up and slowly, but surely, walked to the light.
The weird liquid is currently up her waist, and makes her walk slowly. But the light in front of her gets closer, and it's getting warmer the more she approached it. And yet, she wonders what she is doing here in the first place. She tried to remember what happened, but nothing came up. All she knows is that light in front of her may have answers in there. And now, the liquid is now at her feet, the light so close to her now. She then reaches for the light, it's warmth so intoxicating.......
She wasn't sure where she really is now. Earlier, she was on a very dark place, a warm light in front of her. And suddenly, she's on a beach, of sort. She looked behind her and notices the sky is dark red, the water red as well. It also smelled of blood but she decides not to think hard of it. And now, she sees the woods in front of her and so, she walked forward, maybe seeing a town and getting help there.
(10 minutes later)
Finally a town appears in front of her, legs tired and she wanted to just go there and maybe recognize it. And so, she quickly ran and get help. But as she gets closer, the town itself becomes weirder, if the giant bones sticking out the ground isn't a weird sight already. Buildings in dangerously bad shape, fogs covering the place and most of all, the citizens are all kinds of wrong. Some look horribly deformed, some normal and most were monstrous in appearance. As she gets closer and closer, the more inhuman the town becomes.
On the air, she now feels, is a sense of dread. Now, she doubts if she should continue walking to the town. On one hand, she isn't sure what the hell the citizens there are. Are they evil, or just plain terrifying to look at?
On the other hand, it's the only safe bet that one of them can help her get home. And frankly, maybe an explanation on what this place is. So, she then continued her way to the town.
-----------------------------------
The town was happily giving a sense of safely living here, despite the dreadful atmosphere she feels. Merchants shouting what they sell, family walking down streets happily and much more she couldn't describe more. Although with the stares they're giving her, she feels isolated from them. And so, she kept on walking hoping someone, or something, can help her.
As she kept walking, she noticed one particular stand, which is owned by one particular being. A tall, grey haired lady with a gem on her chest. And she didn't realize, but she was already staring at her. She felt...motherly, and she didn't knew why
But frankly, she didn't realized that the woman also looked back at her, in a different way though.
"So, did any of my stuff interest ya, kid?" Luz snapped out of her gaze, and looked away in embarrassment. "Uh, actually, no. It's just that, well, I didn't mean to be rude by staring at you." The woman looked at her in confusion.
"Well, kid. Where's you parents?", asked the woman. Luz then went white, realizing that, no, she's not on Gravesfield. Or anywhere in Connecticut. Or even Earth. "Uh, truth be told, I'm lost, Miss...." The woman quickly understood the sudden stop. "Eda. Name's Eda, kid. You?" "Luz. Luz Noceda." "Well, Luz, where did you came from?"
She didn't knew how to answer her. "Uhh, somewhere around here. Maybe. I forgot what the town is called." Eda didn't believed her for one bit, and raised her eyebrow, then Luz sighed and told the truth. "Fine, I'm not from here, Miss Eda. In fact, I don't even know where am I."
That, Eda, understood. "Well kid, welcome to the Boiling Isle. Home of many dangerous creatures, and some demons." That made Luz's eyebrow rise. "I'm not on Earth, am I?" Eda gave her a deadpan look and nodded. "Well, how'd you get here, kid?"
Luz then thinks of the dark liquid place, but decided to ignore it. "I just saw a bright light and walked towards it. Care to answer what it was?" Eda nodded. "Must have been some random portal that connects Earth to The Boiling Isle."
She nodded, and decided to go, when suddenly.....
"Hey, where you think you're going?"
Luz then stopped, because Eda was right. Where would she go? She awkwardly looked at Eda. "The woods, I guess? I could camp there for a while, wait for one of those portal to activate, and get home."
Eda shook her head in disappointment. "Kid, there's more chance of you dying in the woods than one of those opening up." Luz's face goes in shock. "What?" Eda sighed. "The portal has a 1 out of a million chance to open. And frankly, you're that 1 chance. Lucky kid.", she said in a sad tone.
That didn't help Luz at all. And Eda realized it. "Well, tell you what kid, I have a deal for you: you get to stay with me on my place, in exchange you will work with me, so anything I say you shall do with no questions, got it?"
Luz then thinks of it properly. Eda, a random woman she met today, is letting her stay in her place. Although, she did say that whatever she orders to her, she shall do. Then again, she can't just laze around her place.
"Well, Eda you got yourself a deal." Eda smiled at her. "Good thinking, kid. Now, I'm about to close up shop. Would you kindly help me now?"
And so, they fixed up the stall she works on. And they were about to leave, "Edalyn Clawthorne.", someone called Eda behind them. They looked at the voice, and saw two people standing a foot away from them. The older one was wearing a dark gray dress, a gem in her chest as well, and dark navy hair.
The other one is as old as Luz, with lilac hair let down, wearing some sort of school uniform, and smells badly of perfume. Too much perfume, which made Luz cringe her face in disgust. This did not go unnoticed by the girl.
Eda groans and rolled her eyes as she looked at both of them. "What's up, Lilith? And to you too, Blight." Lilith, the older one, smirked as she looked at Luz with a look of wonder. And pity. And then looked back at Eda with an authoritative gaze. "May I remind you that you, of many crimes as well, aren't allowed to sell here, did you forget? Or did you just do this to piss us off?"
Now Luz is scared. Edalyn was a criminal? And Lilith here is a police of sorts? Then what's the girl for? Maybe a concerned citizen, that's all.a
"Well, that's not the only reason you're both here, aren't you?" Lilith growled while the Blight girl was stoic. But if Luz would look closely, her cheeks are red.
"Yes Edalyn. That human over there", she points to Luz, "what is she doing here?" Eda looked at Luz and back at them, a grin appearing in her face. "This kid here? Well, I was about to bring her back to my place-"
The Blight then interrupted her with, "That giant garbage bin you call home? If anything, she should be with Miss Lilith instead." That made Luz doubt Eda even more. But Eda wasn't gonna have any of it. And so, she then held her owl staff that she held earlier and slammed it on the ground.
As she did it, a wave of powerful air pushed Luz off the ground, while Lilith and Blight held theirs. Then, Lilith took hers out, and unleashed a wave of fire to them. Eda was quick to dodge, while Luz barely managed to escape. Then, when Luz was gone, the two adults exchanged spell after spell.
As the two fight, Luz managed to grab Eda's stuff. As she was about to leave, the Blight stood in front of her. And the perfume was even closer to her face, making her gag. "And where do you think you're going?" The Blight then licked her dry lips, while Luz slowly walked backwards. Blight then slowly towards her. "Listen, chicha bonita, I don't really want any trouble, okay?"
The girl smirked. "Oh I never got your name. Mine's Blight. Amity Blight. Remember that the next time you see me, human!" Luz then vomits, the overwhelming smell of perfume has done it. But for some reason, she also smelt of burnt flesh.
Then, a potion fell near her leg, which had a warning to not shake it. She grabbed it, and after looking at Amity in front, and Lilith fighting Eda on the back, she decided to shake the vial.
The liquid started to boil and heated the glass, which hurt Luz's hand. So, she accidentally dropped the potion. A good accident for them, as when the vial broke, a thick amount of smoke covered the four of them, and making Amity and Lilith cough hard.
Luz, meanwhile, covered her nose and mouth with her hands. Eda then used the smoke to grab Luz and use her staff to fly away from the two.
As the smoke cleared, the citizens who watched the commotion had already left, leaving only Lilith and Amity alone. Lilith's face had become pissed, while Amity's cheeks are red.
'I think I'm in love.', was on Amity's mind. And Lilith shouted really loudly to the skies.
