Summary
After his brothers mysteriously disappear, Will Solace finds himself aboard a fishing boat, trying to make some money to send back to the rest of his family. But when an unusual creature turns up in their net, Will learns the truth: the crew of the ship are actually poachers, hunting and selling merpeople to buyers on the mainland.
At first, Will keeps his head down and goes along with it. But the more that he learns about the merboy they've captured, the guiltier he begins to feel about his role in the situation. The two of them strike up an unlikely friendship, and Will hatches a daring rescue plan. But with danger at every turn, Will realizes that the merboy isn't the only one who's trapped; he'll be lucky to make it out alive himself.
