It could have been worse.
Jeno could have been by himself with no friends to save him at this party. He could have been shitfaced with a group of people he didn’t know.
Instead, he was shitfaced with his friends at a house party a few miles off campus. There was a phone a few feet away filming him. This phone was held by one Na Jaemin who was having the time of his life (and who was also slightly tipsy).The rest of their friends were on a spectrum of drunk with Renjun being the most sober to YangYang who was trying terribly to stay upright. He was leaning on Renjun who didn’t look too thrilled to be the man’s crutch but probably would not have let him be near anyone else in the state he was in. YangYang was whispering something into Renjun’s ear as the latter watched over the rest of the group like a hawk.
That was something Jeno was supremely thankful for. His friends always looked out for one another when they went out so one of them wouldn’t do anything stupid. However, that was not going to stop Jeno and he had his sights set on one person to do probably the top 5 most stupidest things he’s ever done.
Donghyuck was on his phone while leaning against the wall a few feet away from where Jeno had been attempting to dance with Jisung and Chenle. Against better judgement, Jeno pulled himself away from the group and made his way over to Hyuck.
“Hey.” Donghyuck said as he approached.
He didn’t need to look up to realize that it was Jeno coming in his direction.
“Hey yourself.”
“You are so drunk.”
“Yeah and what about it?”
Donghyuck looked up from his phone to see that Jeno was a lot closer to him then he had once realized. Jeno had one hand pressed against the wall near his head. Jeno was leaning down at him and Donghyuck suddenly felt small.
“You look good tonight.” Jeno said breaking the silence.
“I could same about you.”
“Yeah well why don’t you?”
It was Donghyuck’s turn to make a move now. He stood up a little bit straighter but this just made him grow closer to Jeno. Hyuck could feel his heart racing in his chest.
“We’re getting bold now?” Jeno said running his tongue across his teeth.
“I don’t know what you mean?” Donghyuck said nervously.
Jeno inched himself impossibly closer and Donghyuck felt the breath beng stolen right from him.
“Jeno.”
“Hyuck.”
Donghyuck put his hand on Jeno’s chest to put some distance between the two of them. Jeno grabbed his hand and placed a soft kiss on his knuckles.
“You know I love you right?”
“I love you too Jen.”
“No, I love you.”
There a bit of a crescendo on how Jeno said the word love and Donghyuck knew exactly what he meant. Though he felt the same way, he refused to let his friend’s confession happen while he was wasted at a frat party.
“I promise I love you too Jeno but let’s try this tomorrow when you can stand up straight.”
Jeno smiled and leaned into Donghyuck.
“I can stand up perfectly straight.” Jeno said with a confident smile.
He released Hyck’s hand in an attempt to prove himself but the movement from his leaned position into an upright position sent his mind spinning and his body toppling over. Donghyuck made a feeble attempt to save him but his hand narrowly missed Jeno’s shirt before he hit the ground and landed in a seated position. A loud wooo came from behind them as Jaemin still had his phone in his hand and he definitely caught that entire fall on camera. Jeno looked up at Hyuck who was also laughing his ass off.
This had indeed been the top 5 stupidest thing Jeno had ever done but seeing Hyuck laugh was worth the humiliation.
