A normal day in the daycare, a normal day at the pizzaplex.
It was nearing midday, just around when their usual nap time for the kids would end.
Sun was running around, the music that had dimmed due to it being nap time, now back at its fun and encouraging volume.
Kids were rolling around, little yawns and raised hands as they came to from waking up from their nap. Sun was oh so happy to see them rested, as well glad they could now play.
He went along, helping kids up with assuring words and wide sunny smiles.
Today, they had a new kid. Someone he knew he hadn’t seen before. Though the file he had told him everything he needed to know.
Sun was excited to meet this friend, being some parents did prefer to be the ones setting their children down for naps before heading off.
This child was one of them.
They weren’t hard to find, being, admittedly, they stood out.
They were one of the few who was yet to wake up, either from noise of the excited giggles and squeals from the other children who were happily chasing each other around.
Why, you may ask?
Sun could tell you. This little friend, was deaf.
He’d learned that after trying to greet them at the door, his own face had warmed due to feeling bad and apologized to the parent before another not lead them in.
Being an animatronic, he had the knowledge he needed to care for children. That included sign language, something new that had been added to his systems recently.
He was so excited, loved being inclusive in a way he didn’t understand.
He kneeled beside the child, hands gently whenever he carefully shook them to wake them up.
Sun didn’t want to risk startling them, smiled wide whenever they blinked up at him. He waved. “hi new friend, im sun!” He signed, hands careful and precise.
His excitement grew when the child smiled, replied with their own little introduction after sitting up with a yawn.
Oh he was sure they would be great friends.
His hands moved accordingly, smile wide. He signed “nap time is over, it’s time to play!”
Those were the best words a child could hear. The excitement on their face was worth it, especially the way they jumped up and made a reach for one of suns hands.
He smiled, lead them along out of where they’d taken their naps.
Today was a good day for him. His job really made him happy.
