Work Text:
Orochimaru understands that the world needs superheros, that the world would be screwed without them. He knows that without them the world would be taken over by aliens, monsters, the government, or a science project gone wrong. He knows this, he accepts this. He loves the heroes of the world. He appreciates the fact that there are people out there who willing risk their lives for regular people like himself.
However no one can really blame Orochimaru for holding a small amount of resentment towards said heroes. He doesn’t understand how hard it could be for them to just take their fighting to a less populated area. Orochimaru already has a hard time paying his bill, with the insurance company doubling their prices it’s basically impossible for him to get ahead on anything.
A large explosion goes off a few blocks away from Orochimaru. He sighs and grabs his emergency bag out of the closet, leaving his apartment.
Orochimaru bumps into Sakumo, his .... lively yet reclusive neighbor who for some reason is wearing a wolf onesie. “Hey” they say in unison. Sakumo immediately begins to tell Orochimaru about his only child for some reason or another, seemingly thinking that Orichimaru asked. He hadn’t but the neighbor is hot so he allows it. It’s something about how his son got him the onesie as a gag gift but Sakumo had no shame and wore it anytime his son may stop by. Something like that anyway Orochimaru isn’t really paying too much attention.
They make their way to the exit like all the others in the building. Another explosion sounds closer to their building, making most of the crowd move slightly faster to evacuate. Orochimaru almost falls as a woman barrels past him to leave the building. Sakumo is the only thing that kept Orochimaru’s face from becoming besties with the floor, not once breaking from his story as he catches Orochimaru. He mentally swoons at the strength the other man has.
Another explosion even closer than the last causes the building to shake. Orochimaru shakes off Sakumo’s slightly lingering hands and stops right before the exit door. He looks Sakumoin the eyes, making him pause in his speech about… something. “I love superheroes but honestly? Fuck them at the same time.” With that Orochimaru continues on his way as if he didn’t just say what he did. Sakumo can only laugh as he follows Orochimaru out of the danger zone.
