Work Text:
Obito was trapped.
Everywhere he looked there were people surrounding him.
Bumping him, touching him, looking at him (staring more like it), whispering about him, breathing on him, and someone even had the audacity to cough on him.
Obito regretted coming here immensely. Every fiber of his body screamed at him to run away. To leave this horrid place and never come back. Well maybe come back to burn it to the ground. Maybe shoot it up with some bullets. A few stabs in the gut to certain people at minimum.
He absolutely hated being there.
At the moment Obito was in an intense glaring match with an infant being held by its mother. The damned thing had the nerve to sneeze in his direction and smile about it.
“Obito I didn’t know if you wanted Mountain Dew or Root beer so I got both and I’ll take whatever you don’t want.” Kakashi's voice breaks through Obitos murderous thoughts.
He ignores his lover in favor of narrowing his eyes just a bit more at the tiny little human.
“Obito stop glaring at that child before he combusts and tell me which drink you want.” Kakashi says in an exasperated but fond tone. You can’t even see my eyes. You can’t possibly know where I’m glaring.”
“Obito, there’s a child in your vicinity. Of course I know you’re glaring.”
“Whatever.”
The toddler smiles in triumph as if he knew he won and Obito shifts his mask to the side showing the little vermin his heavily scarred face with a muttered boo, causing the boy to immediately cry loudly disturbing the peace and causing embarrassment to the family.
Obito smiles wickedly while pulling his mask back in place and turns around to look at Kakashi who has one eyebrow raised as if to say ‘Really? Do you feel good about yourself?’
“What?” He asks.
“You are going to make a great dad one day.” Kakashi says with a smile.
‘I’d rather burn in Hell than have a child’
Obito cringes at the thought of little itty bitty bite size humans that share his DNA running around his home, causing mayhem and destruction to everything their little grubby, perpetually sticky hands can touch.
Disgusting. Obito would rather take a pineapple up his ass every day in hell Little Nicky style than to have a kid.
Instead of responding, Obito grabs the Root Bear from his lover’s hand, taking a small sip.
“Thank you.”
“You are more than welcome.” Kakashi replies.
He grabs Obito's hand and drags him away from the cafeteria.
“Where are we going?”
Kakashi pulls Obito in the direction of a semi dark glass tunnel. Colorful sea animals swimming in aimless direction grab Obitos attention.
Nurse sharks, seahorses, stingrays, clown fish, and others swam leisurely and peacefully. Not a care in the world.
Obito could admit this was a beautiful scene.
If he was an artist this would be what he drew. That or Kakashi naked. Both were equally good.
Kakashi's voice interrupts Obito’s lust filled thoughts of Kakashi stepping out of a pool with nothing but a speedo on. “Do you think they know they are trapped as prisoners in a circled glass and that their whole life is a sideshow attraction and more importantly a lie?”
Obito looks at Kakashi's back and smiles. “Probably not. They’d start a riot if they knew. Maybe we should try to tell them? Figure out the universal fish language? No, that's too much work.... oh let’s find Aquaman and tell him to tell them!”
Obito pauses his mini semi serious rant as Kakashi laughs. “I love you, you know that right?.” He says with a soft look in his eyes. As much as Obito didn’t understand the point of this date, he was glad to be on it, especially if it means hearing those words.
Kakashi turns around and catches Obito staring, he smiles back at the other.
“What?”
The people fade away.
The fish fade away.
The aquarium fades away.
The world fades away.
The annoyance fades away.
It’s just him and Kakashi.
It’s Kakashi and him.
“Nothing. Nothing at all.” He says while squeezing Kakashi's hand just a bit.
It is very romantic.
Gross.
A thing bumps into Obito’s legs and causes him to fall into Kakashi's firm lithe body. It was very rom-com-like.
I hate people.
Obito pushes off Kakashi with an apology and tries to turn around to find the culprit that ruined the picture perfect moment.
Kakashi laughs while grabbing his face with one hand.
“Stay calm my love.”
Shockingly Obito does. He’d do anything for Kakashi.
Kakashi grabs him and drags him along the tunnel that narrows the further they go.
Kakashi continues his earlier conversation from before he left to get food. “We already saw the sharks, stingrays, seahorses, jellyfish, and dolphins. I was thinking next time we could go see the octopuses? Octopi? What’s the plural version of octopus? Whatever it is … we should go there next. They are such fascinating creatures...”
Everything Kakashi says after that is muffled and lost. His eyes become unfocused and blurry. His thoughts slam into a halt. Only one word loud and clear.
Octopus.
There are very few things Obito is afraid of, octopuses are one of those things.
“Obito? Tobi? ….Daddy? Hey, are you with me?”
Obito blinks and everything comes back to him slowly. His eyes become focused, his thoughts come back online, and he can hear everything again.
A few things come to his attention.
- He’s standing in the middle of the walkway blocking everyone’s way.
- He’s breathing very hard.
- People are giving him extremely annoyed looks as they try to pass by him.
Fuck those people six ways to Sunday.
Obito’s eyes find Kakashis’.
“Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
He shakes himself off, mentally and physically, giving a half assed smile to Kakashi despite the mask and replies.
“I’m fine. Why do you ask?” Ignoring the second question, Obito steps out of the fairly narrow hallway and steps to the side and leans casually on the wall. He steers his eyes away from his fiancé, eyeballs the crowd and glares at those whose eyes make contact with his mask.
Kakashi follows him to the wall and leans protectively over him, blocking off his glares and shielding him from the lingering stares. His arms are near his head and his forehead touches Obitos’. He waits till Obito looks at him again.
“Babe... you just froze in the middle of a crowded hallway. Your eyes were the size of... well I don’t know how big but I know they were big because of the mask but still, you started to pant like a dog, and your body tensed up. Something’s wrong. What is it? What’s the matter?”
“Nothing’s wrong.” Obito shrugs and prays to the God he doesn’t believe in that his nosy little lover drops this stupid conversation.
No such luck.
“Was it something I did? Was it because I grabbed your hand? I know you don’t care for PDA but you never reacted like that before”
“No, of course not.” He didn’t want to admit he was enjoying all the physical touching too much to care what people thought.
“Ok so it wasn’t the PDA...” Kakashi looks up to think over the last few minutes. “Was it something I said?”
Obito’s body tenses momentarily and then relaxes.
“No! Why would you think that? Look... can we just drop it? Please, I'm fine. Let’s just move on and go see the um... octopuses... or whatever.”
“Obi...”
“I’m begging you Kakashi! Please just drop it.”
“Begging? The big bad Yakuza boss is begging me...”
Is he...?
“If it wasn’t for something so important I’d take advantage of your begging.” He says teasingly. Kakashi leans in and lightly kisses Obito where his lips would be again. The kiss ignites a thought in Obito’s brain. If begging didn’t work perhaps this will. Obito lifts his mask and pulls Kakashi to him, kissing him hard. He circles his arms around Kakashi's neck, bringing their bodies closer together. Kakashi in return wraps his arms around Obito’s body, holding them together even tighter. Once more the world disappears. They are the only people in existence. No one can break them apart. As the kiss gets steamier, one of Kakashi's hands leaves his waist and makes its way down to grope at Obito’s firm ass. Before the hand can reach the destination, someone clears their throat causing them both to slightly split apart. Saliva connecting their mouths together.
Son of a bitch. Someone is dying before the day ends, I swear to God.
A frowning bodyguard stands behind them with his arms crossed. He is an older, fat, balding man. He’s not threatening in any way, shape, or form. The guard points at a semi large sign that says no kissing to the left of them.
Whoops!
Kakashi gives an apologetic smile and mumbles out sorry while Obito glares at the man for interrupting yet another wonderful moment. They fully break apart from one another. The guard walks away but lingers in the area, keeping an eye on them. Kakashi laughs quietly before getting serious.
“While that was a lovely and much welcomed distraction, I didn’t forget about our conversation.”
Shit. Mission failed. Abort! Abort! Run Obito run!!
They begin a very intense staring match, neither willing to back down. Obito sighs and breaks eye contact.
“I have a...a strong dislike towards octopuses.” He mumbles out miserably.
Silence. Obito looks up and Kakashi is just staring at him.
“You’re afraid of ... octopuses?” He asks slowly, “I didn’t think you feared anything but Uncle Madara.
“Yeah well...”
More silence.
“Look... there are three major things I’m not fond of and I’m telling you this because I trust you. If you tell anyone I will not only deny it but I will kill you. Literally... I will kill you. You know I will Hatake. Don’t test me.”
Kakashi smirks.
“I’ll happily die by your hands.” He grabs Obitos hand and kisses each knuckle.
If only you knew how serious I am, my love.
The dark voice speaks up for the first time of the day.
Luckily it goes away just as quickly as it comes.
“I’m ... wary... of three things. One being spiders; I hate them. They are disgusting to look at, their eating methods are disgusting, they have eight legs, many if not all of them are venomous and don’t have antidotes, and they can range from tiny to freaking massive. Any spider bigger than a dime is too big. Any spider smaller than a dime is also too big. I find it absolutely baffling that people can keep them as pets. Bless their damned heart because I couldn’t do it. The second thing would be dying on the toilet. Could you imagine if you died while taking a shit? Absolutely horrible. Can you imagine the news report. ‘Local Yakuza Boss has a heart attack on toilet. No one found the body for hours due to them thinking he was taking a very long shit. More at 6.’ I can’t go out that way Kakashi. I don’t want to be another Elvis. I’m better than Elvis, God dammit.”
Obito takes a deep breath before continuing.
“The last thing I am not fond of are octopuses. Those things are extremely smart creatures, while that is not necessarily a bad thing it’s scary. There have been many instances when an octopus used their brains; like the time it was put in a jar with the lid screwed shut and it managed to unscrew it and slither away. Another time it got out of its cage and escaped the aquarium by drain. Another one in captivity spit water onto the electricity box and caused the entire floor to lose power. One in the wild tried to eat a man’s head! A MAN'S HEAD, Kakashi! It took like three people to get it off! Fucking three people. So not only smart but strong too?
Oh and let’s not forget there was one that continuously ate sharks for like weeks before anyone noticed. It captured and ate sharks. Sharks! One of the most feared things in the mother freaking ocean was getting eaten by an octopus. They also have eight legs which as established from spiders is just not natural.”
He glares at Kakashi when he hears a snort. Obito pinches Kakashi’s side viciously, smiling gleefully when the other yelps in pain.
“Putting ALL of that aside; they are hideous creatures and they make me want to vomit. They are so slimy and they have no bones so they can squeeze through tiny holes. Oh! I almost forgot they can camouflage themselves so you don’t even see them coming. A doctor tried to trick it by putting it on a multicolor background and do you know what it did? It turned itself clear so it could still hide. Clear Bakakashi. What type of nonsense is that! You can’t tell me those things aren’t the creepiest, most disgusting...look don’t judge me… Dammit I can see and hear you laughing asshole….”
A hand gently runs through his hair, stopping him mid rant.
“Hey...hey now, just breathe. I’m happy that you can trust me enough to tell me your fears! If it makes you feel better I’m terrified of spiders too. Especially after being bitten on a field trip when I was a kid. Can’t stand those little fuckers. It’s ok to be afraid of things. Just breathe, love. I’m not judging you. I get it Daddy. ”
Obito calms slightly and shyly smiles at Kakashi and his stupid (beloved) kinkname.
“I do have one question though...”
“What?” The smile slips off his face.
“Are you really afraid to die while on the toilet?”
Obito blushes and raises his middle finger at Kakashi while walking away.
Kakashi laughs and follows him slowly.
Obito lowers his mask and walks in a random direction, taking in the sight of the exhibits. Kakashi eventually joins his side after his laughing fit and whispers random facts and information about whatever animal and aquatic plant they pass.
At some point Kakashi takes the lead pulling Obito this way and that showing him more and more of the underwater world. Obito takes notice that Spidey keeps him away from the rooms where the octopus stay.
His heart sings. If Kakashi isn’t the one for him, no one is.
Eventually they find themselves in the bioluminescent jellyfish room again.
“I think out of all the rooms, out of all the animals that we saw, this one is my favorite. Such innocent, beautiful looking yet absolutely deadly creatures who’s whole point is to float with the waves.”
He leaves Kakashi's side to get closer to the glass.
This would be another room he would paint if he was an artist.
“What peculiar things you are.” He says to himself.
“They are beautiful. This is beautiful. I think this is my favorite room.” He whispers in awe to Kakashi. His face in childlike wonder as he takes in the neon colors of the animal, watching them slowly make their way from one side of the cage to the other.
“You are beautiful.”
Kakashi comes up behind him wrapping his arms around his sides and placing his head on Obitos shoulder.
Kakashi turns his head, stands on his tip toes, and kisses Obito on the cheek before pulling away and grabbing his hand to rush to a dark corner.
“What are you doing?”
“Shhhhh”
They hide away in the dark spot of the room and press closely to one another.
Kakashi lifts the mask up once more, connecting their lips together in a beautiful union.
If Obito was poetic he’d say he didn’t know where he ended and Kakashi began.
He pulls away for a moment to catch his breath.
Their faces centimeters apart, sharing each other’s breath.
A hand slides up Obito’s chest and down his back and finds a nice spot on his backside. His hips are roughly pressed into Kakashi's.
A (louder than it should have been) moan slips out.
“HEY!” A voice from the opposite side of the room screams.
Son of a bitch!
They break apart quickly and look towards the direction of the voice. The guard from before is walking quickly towards them.
Obito looks at Kakashi, his eyebrow raised in a silent question.
Kakashi smiles.
“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Run?”
“Run!”
They kiss quickly, Obito pulls his mask down while looking back at the guard and sprinting away in the opposite direction, laughing as they bob and weave through people as the guard screams at them to stop.
Best. Date. Ever.
