Chapter Text
70 to 50, Gryffindor in the lead against Hufflepuff. You could see Harry practically playing footsie with Cedric, hufflepuff’s seeker, both trying to out run each other for the snitch. You’ve seen this almost 1000 times being one of Gryffindor’s chasers, but you had to keep your head straight; you can’t let Hufflepuff get the jump on you like last time.
“Come on Georgie, let's show these oafs what being a beater is about”
You could hear Fred say as him and George blew past you trying to get the others off your tail. You watch as they effortlessly take out 2 of the other chasers that were following close behind. You couldn’t help but stare unknowingly at the twins as they whizzed around the playing field. Then you felt like you had just been hit by a bus, you realized you ran directly into one of the opposing teams' beaters while you weren’t paying attention for that split second. You felt yourself start to fall but couldn’t move to try to do anything.
“Oh My God, Y/N are you okay?!” you heard George yell through the loud ringing in your ears, then blacked out.
You woke up in the medical ward, head pounding. Squeezing your eyes closed more as trying to block the surprisingly bright light, you heard mumbling nearby, a familiar 2 people mumbling back and forth to each other. Slowly opening your eyes you turned your head towards the muffled talking to see the twins sitting not far from your bedside, they looked nervous, Fred couldn’t sit still and George kept looking up from the book he was supposedly reading to look around the room and at his brother. You open your eyes more and try to look around but the light felt like it was burning.
“Y/N!” you heard Fred say as he practically jumped out of his seat, his brother following close behind him.
“Y/n, are you okay?” you could hear the shake in his voice, sounding like he was about to cry.
“What happened? Did you not eat today?” George chimed in sounding equally as shaken as Fred, you could see his eyes getting cloudy.
“Y/n you have to eat you know wha-”
You cut him off with a shaky voice, “Guys I'm fine, I don’t know what happened really. I think I ran into someone?”
You could feel George’s head laying on your lap and Fred’s hand lightly on your leg. You reached up to feel bandages wrapped around your head. You probably looked confused, so Fred answered the unasked question that linger in the air.
“You were bleeding, they had to patch you up. No concussion luckily”.
He handed you an ice pack that lay on the table beside the bed, “thanks.” You sat there in silence for a bit, George's head still laying in your lap, Fred sat on the end of the bed reading the book George had brought a loud, this helped you relax and ignore the throbbing pain that stabbed at your head. You could hear George’s faint breathing suggesting he fell asleep, he must have been exhausted after the match. Slowly moving your hand closer to his, you jerked your hand away realizing what you were doing. Fred had noticed the sudden movement and spoke up.
“Hey, if you don’t feel too bad, would you want to come back to our dorm and hang out? We could take care of you if you need anything.” His voice was so careful and loving you had to agree, “yea sure, you need to wake sleeping beauty over here though” you motioned to the brother who was fast asleep.
“Yeah, I'll wake him up.” You heard him chuckle a bit as he tapped his brother on the shoulder.
George sat up quickly, “What- I'm awake” He rubbed his eyes and stood up trying to stretch the sleepiness away. “Where are we going?” His voice was groggy as he looked over to his brother to get a sense of what was happening.
“Y/n is going to come back to our dorm with us so we can take care of em’.”
Fred looked back at you with a slight grin and looked back at his brother.
“Oh, I'll go grab your things then y/n, I’ll be right back”.
George walked out of the room seemingly wide awake, and walked back in with your few belongings you left before the quidditch match. Fred hopped off the bed and lightly held your arm as you stood up, George doing the same with the other arm. “Guys, I said I was alright. I don't need hel-'' At that moment your leg tried to give out on you but the twins quickly held your weight.
“Yea I don’t believe that for a second darling.” said George chuckling slightly.
“Besides, I'm pretty sure you hurt your leg too, so don’t put too much pressure on it.” Fred added on with that same sweet tone.
“Got it?” They asked at the same time, they seemed to do that a lot.
You rolled your eyes and answered in a jokingly annoyed tone, “Yes. Can we just go back now please?”
“No problem” They both answered and slowly walked you out of the room towards their dorm.
They led you through the door of their dorm and you couldn’t help but take in how cozy it was, knitted blankets strewn about on their beds and couch, oranges and browns were the main colors besides the normal red of the Gryffindor dorms. It also smells like a home, warm and sweet but not overbearing. They walked you over to where the couch was and gently helped you sit down.
“Do you need anything hun?” George asked in a sweet tone.
“We have pretty much anything you would need, drink, food, blankets we got quite a bit of those” Fred said naming anything he could think of .
“Could I have some water if you don’t mind? My mouth feels like it's shoved with cotton balls”.
“Of course you can! I’ll be back.” You watched Fred walk over to a little fridge they kept in the corner out of the way. George sat down on your left, the side he seemed to stand on all the time. He looked more nervous than usual, he couldn’t sit still and kept peeking at you from the corner of his eye.
“George…” He jumped a bit at the sudden talking.
“Yea?” He had a hard time looking you in the eye.
“Are you okay? You seem nervous?”
“Yeah, sorry, yeah I’m okay I was just worried about you after you fell, you ran straight into one of the hufflepuff's beaters and must have blacked out.” He looked down at his lap and then back up at you with a faint smile. “I’m just glad I managed to catch you before you could hit the ground”.
“Yeah, Georgie practically saved your life, it would have been much worse if you hit the ground.” Fred appeared beside you, putting a bottle of water in your lap and sat down next to you. Opening the bottle you downed a third of the water inside, spilling a bit down your chin.
“We’ve seen some bad accidents haven’t we Freddy, people running into each other, keepers getting hit in the head, chasers getting hit in the head”
“Hell, you name it, we’ve probably seem it”
“Yeah I guess it could have been worse, could have gotten a concussion or broken a bone. The worst I've got is a little head bleeding and a hurt leg”. You try to hide the sadness in your voice as you realize you won’t be able to play for a while. You catch sight of the clock and see it's getting late, and as soon as you think that Fred reads your mind.
“You can stay here if you’d like” He smiled at you innocently.
“I can sleep on the couch and you can have my bed”. George looked over at you and you can tell he wasn’t joking.
“No, Georgie you should sleep in your own bed, I’ll sleep on the couch”. You yawned and snuggled up into the blanket on the couch, you couldn’t help but notice how the twins seemed to never take their eyes off you. You also start to wonder why you feel so at home in their dorm. Is it the smell? Is it the fact it's so cozy and warm? Or is it because you are sitting between the two you’ve had a crush on since day one, and they are caring for you after an accident? Either way, you want to spend as much time here as possible with them.
“I think I’m gonna go to bed, I’m exhausted” George stood up from the couch and stretched a bit.
“Okay, I’ll be right behind you.” Fred said through a yawn
“Wait, George come here for a second”. You carefully stand up with the blanket wrapped around you.
“What is y/n?” He walks over to you and you give him a big hug wrapping the blanket around him.
“Thank you for catching me, I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t”. You hug him tighter hoping to get the point across you were truly grateful. He hugs you back just as tight and rubs your back slightly.
“You don’t need to thank me y/n, I wouldn’t have let you fall in any other circumstance”. He lets go and gives you the sweetest smile.
“Night George”.
‘Night y/n”.
You walk back over to the couch and grab Fred’s hand, pulling him into a hug. He hugs back confused but still accepting, “What’s this about?” He asks, leaning his head on yours.
“Thanks for offering to take care of me, I really appreciate it.” You pull him in tighter, melting into how right it feels to be that close.
“Just like what my brother said, you don’t need to thank me. I would have done the same in any other situation”. He kissed the bandage wrapped around your head, “I’ll go grab some sleep clothes for you, I’ll be right back”. You watched as he headed towards the bedroom and disappeared into the darkness.
“God what is my problem, I can’t just choose one of them. Both of them just seem right”, you mumble to yourself as you curl up into the blanket on the couch. I can’t seem to tell them either, well more like I don't know how to tell them without seeming indecisive.
“Okay, they might not fit great but it’ll do for tonight, can’t get your uniform all wrinkly”. Fred set the clothes down on the couch and poked at the blanket you were wrapped in. “Did ya fall asleep in there?” You swiped at his hand from inside the blanket. “Guess not, well there is a bathroom behind you if you wanna get changed. I’ll grab a pillow and a bigger blanket so you can get settled in”. He walked off and you went to change.
You walk out in one of Fred’s shirts and what seems like pj’s he's had since he was a kid, cause you doubt they would fit him now. You walk over to the couch to see Fred finish putting the blankets and pillows on the couch. You couldn’t help but smile at how much work he put into making it ‘perfect’. “You didn’t have to go all out you know”
He turned around to look at you and saw a blush creep up onto his face. “I know but mother always taught me to be a gentleman, you’ll have to meet her one day”. You smiled at him and got comfy on the couch. He tucked you in and turned out all the candles that lit the room.
“Good night y/n”
“Night Fred, I-” You stopped mid sentence realizing what you were about to say.
“Hm? What is it?” He looked at you confused.
“Oh nothing, night Fred” You laid your head down and drifted off to sleep.
