The Mask

Summary:

Ponk finally takes his mask off in front of Foolish.

Work Text:

Ponk nervously paced back and forth in the bedroom he has shared his boyfriends for almost a year now.

He had planned on finally taking his mask off in front of foolish for the first time once he returned home from Las Nevadas. The only problem being that he was super fucking nervous.

Foolish has never said anything about the mask. Not even when they started dating. The totem was always patient when it came to things like this, which Ponk appreciated, but he still had no clue who the other would react. Which was causing his nervousness.

He remembered when he first took his mask off in front of their other boyfriend, Sam.

It was before they met Foolish.

He was very accepting and kind about how he looked. Sam showered the smaller in hugs and kisses and still does whenever he sees him without his mask.

Ponk stopped pacing, taking a deep breath.

It's going to be ok, he loves you no matter.

He told himself. Not a second later he heard Foolish open the front door and call out. "Pink! I'm home!"

Ponk's nervousness spiked hearing his voice, "here we go."

He walked into the living room, Foolish about to set his Trident down on the dining room table.

"Hey! What'd I tell you guys about weapons and such on the table!"

Foolish's head jerked up and a big smile appeared on his face as he recognized the other.

"Sorry! I forgot," he left the trident and leaned it against the wall.

He turned to look back at the other but his smile turned to concern. "Hey, you alright? You look worried about something."

"Uh, yeah. About that, can we talk in the bedroom for a bit?"

"Yeah, of course." This made Foolish nervous but he knew it was important.

They walked into their bedroom together and Ponk sat on the foot of the bed, Foolish sat beside him.

"So, um, we've been dating for a while now," Ponk scratched the back of his neck, nervously "and I've been thinking about it for some time now." Ponk struggled to get the words out. Foolish took his hand, squeezing it comforting, and smiled at him. Ponk took a deep breath. "I wanna show my face. Without the mask."

Foolish's smile faded, not in a bad way, just a little surprised.

"You sure?"

"Mhm," Ponk nodded his head. "Could you, um, just close your eyes?"

"Yeah, yeah of course," Foolish did as he was asked and closed his eyes.

Ponk gripped the bottom of his mask and reluctantly pulled it up and off his head. He placed the mask on the bed. He waited a few seconds.

"Ok, you can open them now."

Foolish hesitantly opened his eyes and finally looked at his lover's face.

Ponk refused to make eye contact.

Foolish's mouth opened a few times, trying to say something, but his attempts failed.

Foolish reached his hand up, a few inches away from his face.

"Can, Can I touch you?"

Ponk nodded.

Foolish smiled as he cupped the other's face with his hand. He moved the other's head to face him.

"Hey," Foolish laughed a bit as the other finally look at him. "You're so... beautiful," Foolish said softly, struggling to find the right word. He put his other hand on the other side of Ponk's face.

Ponk melted into the touch. It had been some time since he's had his mask off.

"Thank you, for trusting me," The totem moved his hands off the other's face and took the other's hands of the other into his own.

Ponk smiled at the totem's statement. "Alright," Ponk stood up, pulling Foolish up with him, "Enough of the sappy stuff. Let's cuddle!"

"Hells yeah!"

They climbed under the covers of their bed and cuddled as close as they could to each other. Foolish running his hand through Ponk's hair. They eventually fell asleep like this.

Sam returned home, noticing the silence that consumed the house.

"Ponk? Foolish?"

Sam put his trident next to Foolish's and went to look for his boyfriends.

He found them a minute later, cuddling in their bed.

He smiled, noticing Ponk without his mask.

He quietly shut the bedroom door and slipped into bed on the other side of Ponk. He soon joined them in their slumber.
