Work Text:
The kids were going through an old box, full to the brim of pictures from when they were little.
In human years Jr would be 16 and Fin would be 14 close to 15, but they weren't human, they were both hundreds of years old.
Out of everything in the box, one particular hand-drawn picture caught their eye.
They looked at it, looked at each other, and went to go ask their father about it.
He currently was looking out to the sun setting along the sea line. When he heard the familiar thump of his beloved children approaching.
"Dad! We were going through that box Fin found in the basement and we found this!" Jr handed the folded picture to his father.
"Well, then, what's this?" He unfolded the paper, his smile fading away as his eyes widened and his mouth opened a few times, unable to form words.
"Dad, you ok?" The kids worried a bit.
"Hm? Oh, uh, yeah fine. This is nothing." He folded it back up and put it in his pocket. "You two go run along now, ok? I have to go somewhere. I don't know when I'll be back." The totem forced a smile.
"Ok, dad!" And they ran off. His smile faded once again, this time into a saddened look.
He walked a little into the sea, his feet fully submerged. He pulled out his trident and flew through the sky. He tried to hold back his tears but failed miserably. It started to rain as tears fell down his face, making it easier for him to get to his destination.
Memory's of how his life, what? Almost three hundred years ago now, used to be. He missed it so much his heart ached for it back. For the back.
He lost track of how far he had gone. Losing track of time.
He finally landed, it was a forestry area, he recognized it well. He walked through the thick forest, getting caught every once in a while.
His tears barely dried the memories of burying the two people he loved the most came back to him.
Finally, he reached a small clearing in the middle of the forest.
There stood two headstones, covered in moss and the grass high around them.
The God sat on his knees in front of them and carefully pulled the grass out around them and tried to scratch most of the moss off. Revealing the names that were carved into the stone by a pocket knife. Ponk & Sam.
"Hello, loves. It's been a while, hasn't it?" Foolish tried to form a smile but couldn't. He wiped his tears away and sat down, crisscrossing.
He sat, losing track of time, telling the two all about how the kids had grown up. He talked and talked until he couldn't anymore.
Sighing, he stood up, taking the piece of paper out of his pocket, unfolding it, and placing it between the two.
"It was good to see you two again, I love you guys." He choked out, tears running down his cheeks again.
And with that, he left the two once again. His heart begged him to go back, to stay with them for the rest of time, but he knew he couldn't.
He left the forest and went back home, he walked into the house to see his kids watching tv. "Hey, dad! Are you ok? Your face looks weird." Jr, said as he noticed his dad enter the room.
Foolish laughed at his son's statement. "Yes, son. I'm fine."
"Where'd you go?" Fin said, her gaze not leaving the tv.
"Ah, nowhere just had to visit some old friends." Foolish walked over and sat beside them.
"Also, do you still have that paper? A wanted to see it again." Fin's eyes finally left the tv.
Foolish pretend to look for it in his pockets. "Nope, guess I dropped while I was gone, sorry."
"Hm, guess it really was nothing." Jr got up to go get something to eat.
"Mhm, nothing," Foolish said to himself, wiping his eyes before the kids noticed.
