Cooking With A Symbiote

Summary:

Eddie is trying to make peppermint bark. Venom's being...less than helpful. But Eddie finds himself not minding.

Notes:

Hey guys! I haven't done an Eddie/Venom oneshot in forever! But I really missed it, and I had intended to do a Christmas challenge with them, where I did a oneshot collection for some Christmas prompts, but due to issues in real life, I never got all 25 finished and missed the Christmas 2021 challenge. But I still got a few good drabbles/oneshots written, and as they make great wintertime prompts, I'd still like to share them. I hope you guys enjoy!

Work Text:

Eddie sighed fondly as he caught his symbiote, who had taken his humanoid form to help Eddie with the baking, sneaking his hand towards the chocolate chips yet again. "V, quit trying to eat the chocolate chips."

Venom drew back his hand, pouting. "But Eddieee...I love chocolate chips." he begged, making his white eyes even bigger as he gave Eddie a pleading look.

"I know, darling, but if you eat them all now, we won't have any left for the peppermint bark. Don't you want to try it, and have some to give to Dan, Anne, and Amelia?" Eddie reminded him.

V sighed. "All right...All right..."

Eddie smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek as he poured the chocolate chips into a bowl before placing them in the microwave to melt. Venom squirmed as the warm, chocolately smell filled the air.

"Eddieee...can't we just eat it now? It smells so good." V pleaded once again as Eddie took it out of the microwave and stirred it until it was smooth.

"No, V, we need it for the bark." Eddie told him yet again, rolling his eyes as he poured it carefully into a container lined with parchment paper.

Venom wrapped his arms around him as he did so, making his task slightly difficult. "You know...it would taste even better poured all over you." he whispered into Eddie's ear, making him shiver.

"You know, I really don't want to get second degree burns in that corner of the world." Eddie said dryly, hiding how this effected him. Not that he actually could from his crazy, mind reading symbiote. He pointed to the bag of candy canes on his counter. "Now, c'mon, why don't you crush the candy canes for me while I put this in the fridge, then you can lick the bowl."

"But I don't know how to crush the candy canes." Venom said innocently.

Eddie shook his head. "V, you crush things all the time. You crushed some poor sap's car this morning."

"Well, that was a car. And I want to just crush the candy canes, not your counter." Venom said with a grin. "I think you need to hold my hand and show me how."

"Babe, you know if you wanted to hold my hand, you only needed to ask." the reporter sighed, but he was smiling as he set the chocolate in the fridge and walked over to the counter with Venom. He wrapped his hand gently around his boyfriend's, and together they crushed the candy canes, Venom being especially careful and gentle. He knew the symbiote knew exactly what he was doing, but this didn't prevent Venom from pretending to be incompetent at every cooking task where he had any excuse to be close to Eddie or hold his hand.

Not that Eddie would ever tell him off about it, because he loved holding hands just as much.

Once they finished, Eddie handed Venom the chocolate smeared bowl and spoon to lick clean as he started preparing the white chocolate, melting it before carefully adding the peppermint extract. He set the half teaspoon down, and before he could stop V, the symbiote picked it up and experimentally licked it. He then made a face. "That's horrible! Eddie, I think it's gone bad!"

"No it hasn't.  It's a flavoring, babe. You're not supposed to eat it on its own." Eddie sighed.

Venom eyed the bottle dubiously. "Then why'd you add it to the white chocolate?"

"Because it makes it taste nice and minty. It's like vanilla extract. It adds a nice flavor to things, but it doesn't taste good on its own." Eddie explained as he pulled the cooled dark chocolate out of the fridge and layered the white chocolate on top.

Venom smiled, adding the crushed candy canes once Eddie was finished. "It's like me then. Far better with you than I ever was on my own."

Eddie blushed. "That was almost disgustingly sappy, you know that?"

"Does it still get me a kiss?" Venom asked with a grin.

Eddie grinned back, then kissed him deeply. "What do you think?"

Venom answered by returning the kiss even more deeply, then scooped Eddie into his arms. Sending out some tendrils, he put the peppermint bark in the refrigerator to cool without ever letting Eddie go, then smirked and grabbed the bowl with the remainder of the melted white chocolate.

It would take at least twenty minutes for the peppermint bark to cool, but the two lovers knew EXACTLY what they were going to do until then.

Needless to say, the peppermint bark was forgotten until the next morning, but Eddie and Venom didn't care.

After all, the other was sweetest of all.
