Work Text:
You don't really know what you're doing. You've been trying to seek out the Boneturner for quite some time but now that you've finally managed to find him, you have no idea what to do. But it was worth a shot, was it not? There was no way you could afford the surgery anytime soon, if ever. This was your best option, all things considered.
*Knock Knock* You lightly knock on the white door.
Sure, lately he's been actually helping people but that doesn't mean he simply won't kill you, or worse. You'd rather not end up looking like one of those pictures of biblically accurate angels. Especially considering your affiliation to the institute there is no guarantee he will help you. You can feel the pit in your stomach deepen and the cold sweat on your skin.
Breathe in, breathe out. C'mon, you can do this.
*Knock Knock* You tap on the door again, this time with way more force and confidence. There is a quiet shuffling sound and you can hear the person in the room moving towards the door. It's gently swung open and you stare right into the face of the man you've been trying to find for so long. 'Right' might not be the best word, as you're *definitely* shorter than him.
"What do you want?" he questions you, looking slightly annoyed. "I have been wondering if you could maybe ... help me?" Getting the words out is hard. But who *wouldn't* be nervous?
He just glares at you for a second before inviting you in and closing the door right behind you.
“So, what is it?”
You try your best to explain your situation, unsure if he’ll *really* understand you. Jared silently nods his head as he listens to you explaining your relationship with your body and how it makes you feel.
“-if that isn't too much to ask, obviously..”
“Hmm, no, that’s actually quite simple. I can do that. Although, i will need *something* in return. Is there anything you can offer me?”
Fuck. Of course you thought about what the Boneturner would like, but you couldn’t come up with anything. Money wasn’t it, anything material wouldn't do the trick either. Unless … unless..? "I could be your assistant" You blurt out.
"What?"
It feels like he's staring straight into your soul, but you push on.
"Well .. you always work alone, no?"
"Yes," he answers "I still don't-"
"I just thought you could use a helping hand. Not that you *need* anybody! But I'm good with people, and well, you're pretty- intimidating.."
Shit, shit, shit. What did you just say again?? It's too late to take anything back now though.
Jared clearly isn't the smartest of people, you can *see* the wheels in his head turning. Once he's done considering he .. smiles? A wave of relief washes over you. Thank God.
"Alright. Sounds good."
"So, you .. like the idea?" you ask to assure yourself you didn't hallucinate the man's answer.
"Sure. It's been a while since I've had anyone who wanted to spend time in my company.
Now, would you like me to do something with your hips as well-?"
You don't even think before opening your mouth. "Yes. Yes, thank you."
"Let's get you prepared now, this way." he leads the way through the empty hospital.
"Unfortunately, I *can't* put you to sleep but I will give you very strong anesthesia." the Boneturner explains.
You just nod happily, your mind already beginning to feel a little bit hazy and your body going limp.
Jared waits a few more minutes before reaching right into your chest and starting to work on getting rid of it completely. Thanks to the anesthesia you only feel slight pain, but you can imagine that if you weren't so properly drugged, the pain would be utterly unbearable.
It feels weird, so weird. There is no way you can *actually* imagine the feeling of someone working and rearranging the skin, the fat, the nerves of your body and everything else. You simply lay there as he helped you finally get the flat chest you've always wanted. Mother nature was unkind to you, but **he** wasn't.
When he was satisfied with the state of your chest, he moved down to readjust your hips.
You feel him gently picking you up and placing you on a soft bed. You wish you could enjoy the new version of your body, but he doesn't let you.
"Stay here."
"But-" He ignores your feeble attempt at a protest and pats your head.
"You gotta rest for now, kid."
He smiles as you pass out, satisfied with his work.
You wake up in a hospital bed. You desperately try to get up, your mind racing but your body betrays you. *Where the hell am I?*
Then the memories come flooding back.
You can't help but try to get up again, this time not due to panic but excitement. *Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God*
After maybe half an hour Jared Hopworth walks in, as you lay in the bed with a big stupid smile on your face.
"So? Are you happy?" you both know it's a rhetorical question, but you still aggressively nod as if he's clueless.
"Recovery will take probably around 2 days," he continues, "I can keep you here if you'd like."
You hesitate, you aren't completely sure about this. What if he's still planning on killing you? Wait, that doesn't even make sense. He would have already killed you by now. You nod again in agreement, you will stay here.
