Shouto’s brows had furrowed. “Why do you do that?” he asked.
“Do what?” Izuku had asked, confused.
Brows still tense, Shouto pulled him closer, gently pressing Izuku’s head against his heart where he could hear the strong, steady tune, and he placed a kiss on his curls.
“Pretend that you don’t deserve the whole world.”
Izuku hadn't known how to handle that. He contemplated spontaneous combustion and was sure that would happen with how much blood flew to his cheeks, but when he peeked up at Shouto, who smiled down at him, he remained whole.
When Shouto looked at him then, Izuku genuinely believed that he loved him without pretense.
