Summary
Irelia did not often venture beyond the central valleys of Ionia, such was the nature of her duties. There was always too much to do, too much to order and maintain. Ionia needed her, its people needed her, to lead, to guide, to teach. The roads would not protect themselves, schools would not magically grow staff, and farms did not dig their own dykes. The conflicts with Noxus may have drawn to a close but there were always more bandits, more roaming gangs and other such filth left behind by their western invaders. Not to mention the continued long standing conflicts with the Vastaya, their growing extremist movement having torched at least three of the smaller villages along the coasts of Ionians southernmost islands.
Every day seemed to push them closer and closer to a seemingly inevitable collapse, and it was taking everything she had just to stop what they could control from falling apart at the seams. Yet to spite all their struggles at home, this was an issue which could no longer stand to be ignored.
