Patrick wanted to take things slow, and by god, David was trying. But David has never taken anything slow before, and it’s harder than he expected.
It should be fine. It’s just that David has always been too much. Too much of everything, really. The list of people he’s driven away by being too needy, too emotional, too opinionated, is too long to be quantified by Western mathematical principles. And yes, it hurt when they left, some more than others. But he’s never felt the way he does about Patrick. He’s never cared so much about making a relationship work than he does about this one.
