Jake has been feeling down. It's not a surprise to anyone after all of the things he's been through but watching his only family left fight against death on a hospital bed for sure made it worse. He slept all nights on his cousin's side, the guilt on his back getting heavier every day he spent on that damn room. The memory was burned on his head, the doctors running, the noise the machines made, the smell of the flowers that their friends brought, the breathing of his "so hated" cousin and the way he fell to his knees when Junior finally opened his eyes after the incident.
"Jake? Take the trash out please, I'll do the dishes" Junior says as he enters his cousin's room "Rachel is gonna order some food tonight so yeah" he continues, after they moved in with Miss Fairchild the air between them felt weird.
"Oh sure just give me a minute" Jake says on a tired tone "Uh do you wanna hang out later?" He proposes sounding a little hopeful.
"I'm going out with Lexy today, sorry... maybe another time" Junior responded and left the room on a fast pace, Junior always had some kind of excuse when they had to do something together, it's not like he didn't like his cousin's company of course but it just felt weird and uncomfortable.
"It's fine" Jake admited defeat, he's been making efforts, trying to hold onto his family but why couldn't Junior try too? He didn't understand, he didn't want to undestand.
Jake went downstairs to take two big trash bags that were waiting for him at the door, he could see his cousin washing some plates at the kitchen, he ignores it and open his phone to message his most messaged contact.
"Hey dev u free today?"
"Uhhh probably yea"
"Wanna hang out today? :)"
"YE im very bored"

"I don't know, he's trying so hard I don't know what to do" Junior vented to the figure on his side
"Jun, he's your cousin right? And after all that happened it's not a surprise that he wants to get closer babe" Lexy said on a sweet tone while holding the boy's hand.
"I know but... we've never been close before right? We hated each other didn't we? So how can he just act caring all of sudden?" He said nervous, how could Jake care so much about him after all, didn't they hated each other?, Junior was sure Jake didn't care if he lived or not.
"What you mean? Jun jun he cares a lot about you, like a lot" The girl said,confused about Junior's statement, she saw Jake sleep, look and take care of his cousin when he was on the hospital, she saw in first hand the amount Jake cared.
"No he doesn't, he never did really, we literally tolerated each other before" Junior denied confused by the girl, how could Jake care?
"Babe... didn't Miss Fairchild told you?" Lexy said realizing that Junior didn't know that his cousin was the one that took care of him all that time, of course Miss Fairchild was there too but Jake wouldn't leave his side, every night Jake was there making sure his cousin was doing well.
"Tell what?" He said, afraid and confused, their teacher told him a lot of things after he was estabilized, so what could it be?
"Jake was the one that helped Miss Fairchild on the hospital, he wouldn't leave your room for nothing, he literally slept there all the nights you were hospitalized" The girl explained.
"What?" Junior asked confused, he knew Jake helped but he didn't know that he helped that much.
"Yeah, he even offered his blood if you needed it, it was very cute actually but for real he slept every night there, it was a battle to take him out even for a bath, we had to use Devon to convince him" She said with a little smile on her lips
Junior took a moment of silence to let the new information set in, did Jake care this much about him? ''Why?'' was the only question on his mind right now, the moment he joined Chucky was the moment he accepted he was alone, wasn't he alone? Did other people really care about him? Didn't his family hate him?
"Oh babe there is this new ice cream place, let's get some?" She said switching the topic with a big smile on her face.
"Sure, sounds good" He said trying to ignore all the questions coming to his mind.

"Jake? Are you okay? You're so quiet today" Devon asked to the boy who had his head resting on Devon's lap.
"Oh sorry, I just have a lot on my head right now" Jake explained while closing his own eyes and taking a deep breath.
"What is it?" The boy said with a worried tone.
"It's Junior, he just looks so distant and I don't know what to do" Jake said.
"Hmm Junior needs some time I think, maybe he'll get closer with time, he's complicated" Devon said thinking on a solution to help his boyfriend, Junior and him were very close but this doesn't mean they've never fought before, Devon's solution was always giving him some time and space but he doesn't think this is the same situation of ever.
"Maybe" Jake repeated on a thoughtful tone.
"I'm sure it's gonna be okay babe" Devon assured on a sweet and assuring tone.
"Again" Jake said with a smirk on his lips.
"What?" The other boy said confused.
"I love when you call me that" Jake assured while turning his head up to look at Devon's brown eyes
"Babe? You're so clingy" Devon laughed
"I mean, I do have the most beautiful boyfriend in the world, can't I be a little clingy?" Jake chuckled
"You're so cute oh god" Devon said as he gave the other boy a little peck on the lips, Jake had a smile on his lips as his boyfriend went back to read a true crime magazine.
