Demons Do Not Have Wings

Summary:

Aziraphale has a nightmare. Crowley has to prove that it was not true.

Work Text:

Heavens and Hell found out about the swap. Crowley and Aziraphale were in troubles. They were brought to Hell where the demons would punish Crowley. Aziraphale had been only once in Hell so far and he hated it. It was so dark, scary and disgusting down there. Everything looked so sad. But at this moment, the angel was concern about his friend, standing in front of Beelzebub's throne, waiting for his sentence.

"I must say, Crowley, I'm very disappointed with you," she said, staring at the ginger.

The rest of the demons were standing around him while Aziraphale was held by two angels aside. He was growing more and more worried. Especially, when he noticed Gabriel attending this sick meeting. He was leaning against Beelzebub's throne and smiling proudly.

"Entering Heavens? That was quite a thing," the Archangel chuckled and took a few steps forward to look better at Crowley who had his glasses taken away.

"Gabriel had a very good idea how to keep you away from Heavens," Beelzebub said and with a snap of her fingers, the ginger demon was tied to a wooden cross. He was left only in his trousers, with his chest bare that was now moving faster.

"What are you doing?" Crowley hissed and tugged on the ropes but failed.

Immediately, he was approached by Gabriel who grabbed his chin roughly. "You wanted to be an angel so desperately." After that the room was filled with a short scream and two black wings appeared on Crowley's back. They were pulled out by the two demons that were now very proud of themselves.

"But you're just a demon, Crawly"," Gabriel growled and stood behind the demon.

The ginger started to wiggle around, trying to escape, his breath quickened but his attempts were pointless. He couldn't escape the ropes. Aziraphale observed the scene and his eyes widened when he noticed a knife in Gabriel's hand.

"No!" he shouted and right after that the blade cut Crowley's skin right where the wings were.

The room was filled with painful screams and begs. The demon was crying and arching his back to escape the blade. Unfortunately, Gabriel was only smiling proudly, seeing the blood falling down Crowley's back. The ginger couldn't stop shouting and wiggling around. The demons around were laughing disgustingly, watching Crowley's suffering.

After a while, the ginger's voice was so raspy that the noises he was making were even more frightening. When Gabriel was done, the pair of black wings was lying on the floor, blood was dripping on them and covered Crowley's back. The demon was mumbling something inaudible, probably too exhausted to say anything out loud.

Just then, Gabriel snapped his fingers and the ropes disappeared and Crowley collapsed on the cold floor. Also, all the angels and demon disappeared. Only Aziraphale stayed there.

"Crowley!" he cried and ran to his friend, kneeling next to him. He moved his hand on the demon's back, careful not to touch the bloody wounds.

"They took them, 'Ziraphale," he mumbled and sobbed. "My wings..."

Crowley was sound asleep when he felt somebody rolling him on his front and stealing his sheets. Then, he felt plump fingers moving on his back like they were looking for something. However, it was quite a nice feeling so the demon purred and smiled in the pillow. He enjoyed it for a while more until he heard a sob. He immediately sat up and saw his angel with tears in his eyes.

"Angel, what happened?" he asked and quickly wrapped his arms around the blond. Aziraphale started crying in the ginger's chest. "Shh, hey, angel, it's alright, you're safe, could you tell me, what happened?"

Aziraphale sobbed and looked up. "Y-your wings, Crowley. T-they cut them off," he said and cried more.

The demon immediately assumed that his angel had a nightmare. "Darling, but my wings are still here, see?" he said and took them out, stroking Aziraphale's cheek with his feather. As expected, the blond quickly leaned in this touch and brushed his fingers against the black feathers. No blood, no wounds, no Hell, no Heavens.

"They said that demon didn't have wings," Aziraphale mumbled.

Crowley smiled softly. "No, demons don't have wings, that's right." The angel tilted his head. "I'm not entirely a demon. I'm a fallen angel."

Aziraphale smiled at that and decided to take out his fingers as well. The white feathers brushed against the black ones and it was the most intimate touch which two celestial creatures could ever experience. Crowley let himself relax in this touch and closed his eyes. His forehead touched with Aziraphale's and they remained in this position until the demon noticed something bright. He opened his eyes and smiled when he saw a halo above his angel's head. He knew that it appeared only when the blond felt safe and loved.

"I love you, Aziraphale. We're on our side and nothing and nobody will ever change it," Crowley smiled and leaned forward to kiss his lover.

"I love you too, angel," the blond said and waited a couple of second for the other's reaction but when Crowley smiled, he closed the distance between them and shared a loving kiss.
