New New Year

Summary:

Crowley doesn't really celebrate New Year's Eve. However, this year was going to be different. Better.

Work Text:

Crowley woke up, cuddled to Aziraphale's chest who was lying in the bed quietly, reading his book. It'd been over six months since the two of them started their relationship and the angel still hadn't got used to sleeping. However, he'd never denied the demon to sleep while he would spend the night reading or doing other quiet thing.

"Hello, angel," the ginger mumbled in the crook of Aziraphale's neck as he was waking up.

"Good morning, dear," the angel answered with a smile and kissed Crowley on his head. "How was your sleep?"

The demon nuzzled more. "Good," he gave a short answer. Still his mind was a little slow. Fortunately, the angel understood that.

They lied, cuddled to each other for some more time. It was the best way for the demon to wake up properly. He wasn't a morning person that's why he had to spend about thirty minutes before getting up. This time, they lied in bed much longer and only when Crowley looked at his phone and realized that they'd been lying there for about an hour so far, he got nervous.

"Angel..." he said quietly. "You should open the bookshop."

The blond only looked at Crowley and smiled.

"What?" the demon asked. Aziraphale had never forgotten to open the bookshop. He was the most punctual person he knew.

"It's New Year's Eve, dear," he said, brushing Crowley's hair. "It's a day free from work."

The demon purred and leaned into the angel's touch. It'd been over six thousand New Year's Eves so far so for them, it was just like any other day. Or rather, for Aziraphale because that New Year's Eve for Crowley was a lot different.

The whole day they were just minding their own business. However, Crowley was just preparing himself for the evening. He planned the whole end of the day for them.

"Angel, what would you say about the Ritz?" the demon asked Aziraphale suddenly.

The blond turned around and smiled at Crowley. "Is there some occasion?"

The demon lifted his eyebrows and cleared his throat. "Um you know I thought we could just enjoy some time together."

Aziraphale happily agreed and in the evening Crowley drove them to the Ritz. He was acting like a gentleman. Opened door before Aziraphale and was all sweet and romantic. Not that he wasn't usually like that but the angel was a little suspicopus.

"That was a very nice dinner, dear," the angel smiled and kissed Crowley's cheek when they were walking down the St. James Park.

It was around midnight and the demon led them to their bench, sitting a little nervously. He looked at his watch and they still had a few minutes before the new year.

"You know Aziraphale, I know we don't really celebrate New Year's Eve but I think that this year will be much better," the demon said, grabbing the angel's hands.

The blond looked at his lover a little confused but smiled either way. He enjoyed the touch of Crowley's hands.

"Well, every year with you is amazing, my dearest."

The demon swallowed and added. "But what I mean is that it's going to be the first new year as Crowley and Aziraphale, not Crowley and Aziraphale."

The angel chuckled. "Crowley, dear, you repeated the same phrase."

"No, no." The demon looked Aziraphale deep in the eyes. "This is going to be the first year that we're beginning being together, as lovers." Crowley said quietly and kissed Aziraphale deep, brushing the hair on the back of his neck.

Right after they connected their lips, they heard fireworks from distance and both knew that each year would be better and better now that they are together.
