“Hakaze, your eyes are so pretty. Has anyone told you that before? ‘Cause your eyes are sooo pretty, like, uhm… like a storm!”
Kaoru sighs, resting his chin in his hand. He can’t even be bothered to protest anymore.
“No, no, they’re more like the colour of a trash can,” Izumi states matter-of-factly, idly waving his hand. Kaoru resists the urge to bang his head against the table.
Two warm hands grab ahold of Kaoru’s face, and suddenly he’s staring into the bright eyes of one Morisawa Chiaki. He squints, studying Kaoru’s face with as much gravitas a tipsy person can muster. Kaoru tries his best not to crumble under the attention.
“Hmm, Sena’s right! They are kinda the same colour as a trash can!” Chiaki declares loudly, letting go of Kaoru’s face.
“Haha, he said your eyes look like trash!” Izumi points a finger at Kaoru with a mocking grin. He’s hard to deal with on a normal day, but when tipsy he just gets even worse. For someone who claims to dislike the smell of alcohol, he sure gets drunk easily.
Scowling, Kaoru scours the room for a familiar ginger. He spots him on the dance floor doing some kind of routine with Ritsu, who very much looks like he doesn’t want to be there. “O~i, Tsukinaga-kun! C’mere for a minute!” He yells, hoping he hears him over the music. Thankfully he does, letting go of Ritsu’s hands and darting over with a grin.
“Kaoru! What’s up? You wanna come dance with me?!”
“Ah, no, I’m okay,” he chuckles. “Buuut Senacchi here was just telling me how much he’d love to join you out there.”
Leo bounces on the balls of his feet, somehow shining brighter than he already was. “Really?! C’mon, Sena, you can take Rittsu’s place! I think he was getting tired anyway.” Before Izumi can protest, Leo grabs his hand and drags him off, laughing all the while. Kaoru receives a nasty glare from the model, simply sticking his tongue out in response.
“Good riddance.” Kaoru contemplates getting himself another drink. He can’t really be bothered to get up to go get one, though.
Chiaki gasps all of a sudden, covering his mouth with a hand dramatically. “Hakaze… we’re alone now.” His voice is hushed, eyes wide as if he’s just unearthed the universe’s secrets.
“Uh-huh, and?”
“Did you make him leave ‘cause you wanted to be alone with me?” Chiaki scoots his chair closer to Kaoru, throwing an arm around his shoulder and nuzzling into his side. “You’re so cute, Hakaze. If you wanted to get me alone, you should’ve just asked, silly.”
“Wha—” Kaoru feels his cheeks burn, scrambling to get away from Chiaki. “I did not!” He did. “He was just being annoying!”
Chiaki’s lips curve up into a grin, a small laugh bubbling past his lips. “Okay, Hakaze. Whatever helps you sleep at night!”
Kaoru thinks that drunk Chiaki is adorable, but he also hates how brutally honest he can be. Any little thought he may have is shared with the world (“Sena sure has a nice ass, doesn’t he?”), and he seems to be more observant than Kaoru ever could have imagined an intoxicated person could be. Realistically, Kaoru shouldn’t want to hang around him as much as he does, but he’s just so cute.
“Hey, Moricchi, how about we turn in for the night?” The party is slowly dying down, mostly being carried by Leo still doing whatever drunk Leo does. Rei is nowhere to be seen, probably off with Wataru, and Izumi is passed out in Ritsu’s lap. No one would mind if Kaoru left.
“Hmm…” Chiaki stares at him, slowly moving his face closer to Kaoru’s. “Did you know that you have freckles?”
Kaoru feels his cheeks warm. “What?”
“Freckles, Hakaze. You know, those little dots some people have on their faces?”
“Moricchi, I know what freckles are.” Kaoru pinches the bridge of his nose. “How did you notice? I always cover them up.”
Chiaki reaches out, poking Kaoru’s cheek. “I noticed them when I was lookin’ at your face earlier. I dunno why you hide them— they suit you.”
Kaoru knows that they suit him; his mother had been particularly fond of them, and he wore them with pride when he was younger. But now he has something of a ‘bad boy’ image to uphold, and freckles don’t exactly fit that.
“Never mind that.” Kaoru stands, grabbing Chiaki’s arm and pulling him up along with him. “You, mister, need some rest.”
“Aww, but Hakazeee, I wanna stay here with you a little longer.” Chiaki stumbles a bit as he rises to his feet. Man, he only had two drinks and he’s this out of it. But this is Chiaki. It makes sense he’d be a lightweight.
“I’ll take you back to your dorm and stay with you until you fall asleep, okay?” Carefully, Kaoru wraps his arm around Chiaki’s waist to support him.
“Okay,” Chiaki mumbles, letting his head loll onto Kaoru’s shoulder. Kaoru leads him out of the party hall, crinkling his nose at the strong scent of alcohol. He’s almost one hundred percent certain that he’s the only person that didn’t have more than one drink; he and alcohol just don’t mix well.
They make their way to Chiaki’s dorm, Kaoru doing his best to keep Chiaki upright. Thankfully it’s the weekend tomorrow, which means the brunet can get some well-needed rest. Adonis and Makoto are both conveniently out of town, so Chiaki can deal with his hangover without bothering anyone.
“Y’know,” Chiaki whispers, his breath hot against Kaoru’s ear. “You’d make a really good husband.”
Kaoru almost trips.
“You’re cute, and you’re kind, and you have a nice butt, and,” Chiaki grins, a mischievous glint in his eye. “You can cook.”
“Haha, all right, Moricchi, let’s hurry and get you to bed.” If anything, Kaoru’s the one who needs to lie down after that surprise attack. What the hell. Is Chiaki trying to kill him?
“I’d have asked you out years ago, but you’re waaay too good for someone like me.”
Okay, he is definitely trying to kill him.
“Hey, Moricchi, you don’t actually think that, right?” Kaoru asks softly, bumping their hips together. He isn’t quite sure they should be having this conversation when Chiaki isn’t fully in control of his actions, but fuck it. If he forgets, he forgets. If he remembers, he remembers. That’s tomorrow’s problem. “If anything, you’re too good for me.”
“Nuh-uh!” Chiaki stops abruptly, and Kaoru realises they’ve reached his room. Chiaki fumbles around with his keys for a moment, then lets the two of them in. He throws himself on his bed before Kaoru can stop him, glaring at Kaoru as he does so. “You’re super handsome, which means you’re outta my league!”
Kaoru sighs, closing the door behind them before going to make Chiaki a glass of water. “Yes, I’m handsome, but so are you. Drink this.”
Chiaki eyes the glass warily, but takes it and downs it in one go. “Thanks,” he murmurs, kicking his legs back and forth. “Are you gonna stay the night?”
“…do you want me to?” A nod. Kaoru’s heart skips a beat. “Where would I even sleep?”
“With me, duh.”
Ah yes, because that’s a brilliant idea. Hey, Kaoru, come and get into bed with me, the guy you’ve had a crush on for three years. It totally won’t be super awkward or anything, and I totally didn’t just practically tell you that I like you too!
Oh.
Chiaki… likes him too.
Oh.
“…do you have any pyjamas I could borrow?”
