Omegas at Sunset

Summary:

Omega mates Jimin and Taehyung move to the city together. As usual trouble and chaos follows them on their journey. A road trip filled with fluff, fake names, bonfires, flirting, scenting, fake(?) marriages and a whole lot of roleplay.

Notes:

Prompt:

Omega lovers moved cities to live together, and decided to roleplay that they were runaways (in reality their families get along and approve their relationship) while they got there. Camped under the stars, ate in small ran-down business, told every person they met a fake name, traveled with light luggage (all their stuff was sent to their new house in advance), etc.

Melodramatic Vmin who like to have fun.

Work Text:

It wasn’t their fault they were already late. Definitely wasn’t their fault they chose to go out last night despite their parent’s warning. Jimin wasn’t at fault for not setting his alarm before bed.

They had both graduated a month back and were finally moving to a bigger city with higher job opportunities. They wanted to spend their last night in their home town celebrating and possibly getting drunk until three in the morning.

Thankfully, both families knew how their kids were and had prepared beforehand for any mishaps. All heavy luggage was already sent to their new apartment a week ago curtesy of Jimin’s father.

“The one thing we told you yesterday was to stay home and wake up early!” Jimin’s mothers voice rang through his phone. “You’re already one hour late.”

“Eommaaa, it’s fine if we’re late. We’re driving there, so it doesn’t matter what time we leave.” A sleep deprived Jimin was already planning to doze for a few extra hours after the call ended. He was in no mood to face the living so soon.

“Doesn’t matter what time you leave? It’s a two day journey Jimin-ah. It’ll be night before you know it. It’s not safe for two Omegas to be alone on the open road so late at night.”

“But,” He whined rolling onto the naked man beside him who grunted but didn’t stir.

“No complains, we’re just looking out for our two babies.”

“We know mum.”

“Speaking of two babies, is Taehyungie awake yet? Chae was trying to call him but his phone wasn’t going through. You know how she gets when she’s worried.” Both of Taehyung’s mothers dotted on him a little too much. Not that Jimin’s mother was any different no matter how much she claimed to be the calm mother from the group.

Both Jimin and Taehyung’s parents had been best friends since before their birth. Poor Jimin’s dad having to handle three overly protective mothers.

“Hmm, he’s still asleep.”

“Tell him to get up and fix his phone!” He heard one of Tae’s moms yell from a distance.

“Don’t mind her. Just get up now, have breakfast and leave. You already packed your bags last night like I told you to, right?”

“Shit-” Jimin sprung up in bed. Their two backpacks lay deflated and empty in the floor beside them.

“Don’t',” he could feel his mother’s anger through the phone. “Don’t tell me you haven’t packed your bag yet?”

“We have! Haha. All packed and ready to go.” He tried to hide the panic in his voice while nudging the younger to wake up.

“Park Jimin do we need to come there and carry you two out ourselves?”

“Eomma, Tae is waking up now. We gotta go. Can’t get late you know?” He hurriedly shoved their travel essentials into the bags.

“Wait, but-”

“Can’t talk, the food is going to burn. Tae says hi and love you. I love you Eomma. Tell dad, Chae and Ruan mum I said hi to them too. Bye.”

“Jimi-” Before his mum could say more, he hung up and quickly got the coffee brewing.

“Wake up baby.” He threw a towel at the younger who was rubbing his eyes. “I told you we shouldn’t have gone out last night.”

“Hmm?” Taehyung frowned while getting up. His head was killing him. Felt like he was hit by a truck or something. “You’re the one who dragged me out.”

“Details details. It doesn’t matter. Why didn’t you set the alarm?”

“I di- oh,” He gave the elder a sheepish grin. “My phone died.”

“See, we’re both at fault.”

“What time is it?”

“Noon?”

“What?” Taehyung stared in shock. He hadn’t expected them to be this late. “I won’t hear the end of it from my mums.”

“Trust me, they’re definitely more panicked than we are.” Jimin fed his sleepy boyfriend some toast with jam before rushing him into the shower.

“Shower with me.” Tae whined as he grabbed the shorter’s waist.

“We’ll never get out before sunset if we shower together.” With a small peck he pushed him away to go finish packing. There wasn’t much to pack since most of their stuff had already been sent. Only a few pairs of overnight clothes, snacks, toiletries for the road and important documents were remaining.

It hadn’t even been a whole fifteen minutes before a dripping wet and naked Taehyung walked out.

“See something you like?” Taehyung smirked at his boyfriend who had seemed to stop functioning for a second.

“If you’re not in the car in five, I’m leaving.” Jimin scoffed despite his raging blush. Four years together but he would still get flustered on a daily.

“Hey! I can’t get dressed and out in five minutes!” The taller protested only to receive a laugh in return.

“Yes momma, we already left a few minutes back.” That was a total lie. Thirty minutes later they had just sat in the car and were about to leave. “No, I can’t give the phone to Jimin, he’s driving. Yes, we’ll be safe. I promise. Mhm. We’ll call you at every stop. Love you too momma and eomma too!”

“Ready?” The smaller turned to him once the call was over.

“Yeah, yeah let’s do this.”

~❥~

It hadn’t been an hour into their journey when Taehyung needed to pee.

“But you already went before we left.”

“I did, but you know how my bladder is.”

“No, I saw you drinking a whole bottle of water five minutes ago.”

“Because I was thirsty.” Tae continued defending himself in a childlike manner. “Are you really going to let the love of your life suffer this way?”

“Love of my life? Who’s that?” The elder teased while searching for any roadside gas station to stop at.

“Jiminieeee.” His mates intense eucalyptus scent filled the car.

“I don’t know any Jiminie.”

Taehyung’s pout just intensified at that comment. He could feel his inner omega getting restless as well. “Fine! If you want to be like that then from today my name is Voo and you’re Jaman and we’re strangers.”

“Oh?” Jimin chuckled already used to his boyfriends’ antics. “And what happens when Voo and Jaman meet?”

“They definitely don’t form an omega bond and fall in love.” He let out a huff.

“Ah I see. Maybe Jaman even finds a pretty Alpha or beta to take care of him then.” He receives a glare in return. “Aww, come on baby, you know I’m just joking.”

“I know.” The younger puffs his chest in pride. “You can’t live without me.”

“Hmm, you’re not wrong there.”

They both had a crush on each other way before they presented. At first, Taehyung denied his status thinking that meant he couldn’t be with Jimin. He even tried dating a few Alpha’s but could never get past the first date.

It was their parents who got them both to accept themselves and whichever sub-gender they were attracted to. Surprisingly, their Omegas had imprinted and formed a rare bond during their first month of dating.

“Pee and come straight to the car after, I’ll get us something from the convenient shop.”

“Get me some juice please!”

“No more liquids for you mister.”

Jimin giggled at how fast Taehyung bolted once he had properly parked.

The washroom wasn’t the cleanest he’d ever seen but it would suffice. Thankfully, they had separate rooms for each sub gender.

“You here alone?” Taehyung jumped when a boy younger than him walked up to him on his way out.

“Uh, n-”

“How ‘bout you let me take you for a ride?”

“Excuse me?” He didn’t know if he should scream or laugh at the audacity of the kid.

“Been told I’ll probably present as an Alpha. Almost ready to take care of a pretty omega like you.” It was funny to see how much effort the boy was putting in. He almost felt flattered.

“Why don’t you flirt with someone your own age?” Another figure came and wrapped his arms around Tae.

“And who’re you?”

“Jaman.” The answer got Tae breaking his neck to look at his mate.

“You know him?” The boy asked Taehyung who was trying his best not to laugh.

“Nope. Totally random stranger.”

“Well, Jaman, I can see you’re already mated, how ‘bout you walk along and let me have a shot with my omega here.”

“Your omega?” Jimin challenged him.

“Yup.”

“Alright, let’s see who he chose’s then.” Pulling away from his mate, they both looked at Tae expectantly.

“Sorry kid, you’re a great catch, but I’m only attracted to strangers named Jaman… and preferably someone above the legal age. Oh, and omega’s only.”

“Really?” The kid sported a crestfallen expression. He had figured out that the two omegas were most probably dating and pulling his leg or something.

“Yep, plus he’s mated too.”

“I don’t see any mating bite?”

“His bite is in a place only I’m allowed to see.”

“Jimin!” Taehyung finally broke character to whack him. “He’s a small kid! Don’t say things like that in front of him.”

“Sorry baby,” He placed a peck on Tae’s red cheek. “I was just telling him the truth.”

“We have to go now, but better luck next time.” He waved of the boy who looked at them in confusion. “Sorry for being your first heartbreak.”

“Drama queen.” Jimin chuckled. “Get in.”

“You started it Jaman.”

“Couldn’t let anyone hit on my Voo.”

“I thought we were strangers.”

“We are mated.”

“But not bonded.”

“Of course, would never want to bond with someone like you.” He teased.

“Jerk.”

“I love you.”

“You should.”

“Say it back.”

“No.” Taehyung crossed his arms.

“Com onnn.”

“No, focus on the road. I want to get there alive.”

“Are you saying I’m a bad driver Voo?”

“How could I? We don’t even know each other that well.”

The bickering didn’t end until Taehyung's words were replaced by soft snores.

~❥~

“Taehyungie,” Jimin woke him up for the second time that day. “Let’s get some dinner before hitting the road again.”

“Can’t we just stay here overnight?” He cried.

“We didn’t plan any overnight stops. Come on, we’ll get there by tomorrow afternoon and then we can sleep for a whole week if we want.”

“A whole week?” He jumped up at the sound of that.

“I mean, I didn’t actually think you wou-”

“Nope, you already said it, no take backs. We’ll spend the whole week in bed cuddling and scenting.”

“Okay, okay. Let’s at least get there first.”

Upon further observation, the diner was quite small, but business seemed to be running well from the number of people inside.

“Table for two?” An elderly lady asked them.

“Yes please.”

“Right this way. Sorry, we’re pretty busy this evening. Football nights are always like this.”

“Thank you.” They both bowed as she placed their menus before them.

“Haven’t seen you two around before. New in town or just passing through?”

“Just pass-”

“We ran away from home.” Oh no. Jimin knew that particular glint in Taehyung’s eyes. It could only mean trouble.

“Ran away?”

“Yes, I’m Lex, this here,” he gestured to Jimin. “is Mimie-”

“Judy!” A loud voice called from behind.

“I’ll be right there!” She called back. “Take your time, I’ll come by in a few to get your orders.”

“Thank you,” As soon as she was out of ear shot, Taehyung got a smacking from Jimin.

“Ow! What? Why are you hitting me?”

“What was that?”

“Just a little fun.” Tae rubbed the spot he got hit. “You did it first, to the boy at the gas station.”

“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean we have to create a fake story for every person we meet.”

“I wasn’t thinking of doing it to every person we meet but now that you mention it.”

“No.”

“Come on, I’ll be fun! Memories from this trip.”

“But it’s wrong to lie.” The shorter argued.

“We’ll never see them again and we’re not lying to harm anyone. It isn’t going to affect them.”

“I don’t know.” Taehyung could already feel the other giving in.

“Please Hyung.” Tae rarely called Jimin ‘hyung’ outside the bedroom unless he really wanted something.

“Fine! But don’t go too far.”

“You’re the best!” He kissed his mate in joy. It was almost impossible for Jimin to deny Tae and sometimes the younger would take advantage of that knowledge to get his way.

“I know I am. Now, I’m really hungry, so let’s order.” Jimin felt his stomach grumble in agreement.

“What do you wanna eat?”

“Something filling but nothing too heavy. We don’t want to get sick on the road.”

“How about Gi-”

“Two mated omegas alone without their Alphas. Did you get dumped?” A man in a pinstripe suit asked them. He would've looked sophisticated if it weren’t for the torn down loafers he trudged around in.

“None of your business.” Honestly, why couldn’t some people just keep their noses out of other people’s lives?

“Now, is that how we talk to Alphas?”

“Listen, we don’t want to cause any issues here.” Jimin tried to reason with the man. “My mate and I just want to have our fo-”

“Mate?” He man barked. “You mean to tell me you two are mated?”

“Is there an issue with that?” Taehyung began to feel his blood boil.

“Two omegas? Mated?” He sneered at them in disgust. “What? No good Alphas around to breed you well?”

“What did you just say to us?”

“Tae.” The elder placed a hand on his mates’ shoulder. “He’s not worth our time. Let’s just go. We have snacks in the car.”

“Yeah, get out of here! This is no place for sinners.”

“Will you shut the fuck up?” Taehyung knew how sensitive Jimin got around bullies so he always did his best to defend them and stand up for him. “Is our relationship harming you in any way? You can take your opinion and shove it up your-”

“What is going on here?” The waitress from earlier stepped in.

“What’s going on is that you allowed these disgusting omega loving people into your place.” The commotion had drawn the attention of the whole diner at that point.

“Get out.” Jimin felt Taehyung freeze beside him.

“You heard her. Get out.”

“No,” He lady then turned to the suited man. “Not them. You. Get out right now.”

“Me?” He stared at her in disbelief.

“You and anyone else who has an issue with these two being in here.”

“Unbelievable. You just lost yourself a lot of customers lady.” Picking up his battered down briefcase and ego, he stormed out.

Things went back to normal pretty quick after that. No one else walked out.

“I’m very sorry about that. The drinks will be on me to compensate.”

“N-no no thank you so much for defending us. You don’t need to do anything.”

“Nonsense. Come sit at the front table next to me.” She glared at anyone who gave them a dirty eye.

“You might lose customers because of us.”

“Don’t worry. Losing customers like those is more a blessing than anything else.”

“Thank you so much.”

She switched places with the lean girl behind the counter.

“So, why did you two run away from home?” She asked after placing their orders.

“Ah about that,” Taehyung was beginning to feel guilty about lying to her before.

“Our parents didn’t accept our relationship, so we ran away. To be together.” Jimin explained before Taehyung could reveal the truth. There was an extent to how hospital a person could be, and he wasn’t sure the lady would appreciate knowing she was lied to.

“Aww, you poor souls. It was brave of you to go against your parents like that.” She could sympathize with them. “Where are you headed?”

“Here, there, anywhere.” Jimin internally face palmed at his mate’s reply. He was definitely going to blow their cover.

“A rushed decision I see.” The lady chuckled before placing their food before them.

“They were going to marry Ta- I meant Lex to someone else, so that's why.” Fortunately, his little trip on their names went unnoticed.

“I too had someone I was in love with a long time ago. You two remind me of her.”

“We do?”

“Mhm, she was a Beta but my parents only wanted an Alpha mate for me.”

“What happened? Did you marry her?” They were both pretty invested in her story.

“No. Not really. We didn’t get married.” She sighed with a sad smile gracing her lips. “She wanted to run away, I was too much of a coward to go against my parents. By the time I made a decision, it was too late. She was gone and I was engaged.”

“Did you two ever meet after that?”

“She never came back, but I still live in the same town, with the same job, living the same life.”

“You’re waiting for her?” Jimin felt his heart hurt for her. He couldn’t imagine living a life without Taehyung.

“You never know. She could choose to walk through those doors someday.”

“I’m sorry.” Tae whispered. He felt really bad for both the lovers. Jimin was his soulmate, lover, best friend, he was his home. He would be losing too much if Jimin ever left.

“Don’t be. You two are an inspiration. I wish you luck on your journey ahead. It’ll be hard, but at least you’ve got each other.”

Love swam in their eyes when they made eye contact. There were no words that could be said to express how grateful they were to always have each other.

“Ready to go?”

“I’ll drive for a while. Get some rest.” Taehyung took the car keys from the other.

“We’re really lucky, aren’t we?” Jimin whispered once they were back on the road. “Our parents are accepting of our relationship, but there are so many people who don’t have that love and freedom.”

“We really are lucky. I’m lucky.” Taehyung took one hand off the wheel to place a small kiss on the back of Jimin’s hand. “Lucky to have you with me.”

“Would you have waited for me like how she did?”

“Hmm, I think I would have ran away with you instead.” They broke out in grin.

“Good. If you didn’t, I would have kidnapped you.”

“Mimie!” Taehyung gasped using the fake name from before. “You would dare do that to me?”

“Or maybe I’m better off without you Lex.” Eliciting another round of gasps, protests and giggles in their little blue Ford.

~❥~

Snores filled the silence as Taehyung drove. He was getting bored without Jimin awake to talk to.

“What the hell?” The fuel symbol had begun flashing red. Tae could have sworn they filled fuel at their previous stop. “No, no, no! Shit!” He cursed when the car came to stop after a few minutes.

He used the last push to get it to the side of the road before waking Jimin up.

“I left you to drive for two minutes only to wake up stranded in the middle of the night.”

“But it’s not my fault! We filled fuel before leaving right?”

“I’ll go check it out.”

“No! Wait.” He grabbed the other’s hand stopping him. Fear was evident in both their eyes. “It’s dangerous out there.”

“Nothing’s going to happen.”

“But they could be wolves or something out there.”

“Tae,” Jimin almost laughed despite their predicament. “We ARE wolves. You know that right?”

“Nooo,” He wailed. “I know that. I meant rogues.”

“Okay, then come with me.”

“But then they’ll eat me too!”

“So, what do we do? One of us has to go out to check what’s wrong.”

Sadly, Jimin was right. Without any other option, they both stepped out into the cold.

“Oh my god! I’m going back in the car; the wolves can eat you.” Taehyung hugged himself tighter.

“Stop being a big baby and check the back, I’ll check the bonnet.”

Upon further inspection, the fuel tank seemed to be leaking and the there was no tow company picking calls at 3am.

“Shouldn’t there be some 24 hour tow companies out there.”

“There probably are but not in this area.”

“What should we do?”

“We can’t drive anywhere with a leaking tank, plus, the fuel is zero.” The elder hit the wheel and threw his head back with a groan. “We have to wait here till morning or until another car passes.”

“Let’s just wait until morning. I don’t want to get into a stranger’s car.” He faced Jimin who was already looking at him in thought.

“You okay staying here overnight?” Jimin stroked his mate’s hair down to his cheek.

“Only if you’re fine with it.” The younger nuzzled into Jimin’s scent glands at his wrist.

“As long as we’re together.”

“The wolves will have to go through me if they want to separate us.”

“My hero.” The elder chuckled. “They’ll definitely run in fear after seeing how scary you are.”

“Never mess with a protective Omega.”

“Then they better be scared of me too.”

“Of course, we can be the Omega vigilante couple.” They both giggled.

“We should probably call mums and dad. They must be worried.”

“Yeah we should.” Taehyung hummed back slowly closing his eyes. Their parents didn’t know they were stranded so that was an issue to sort in the morning.

~❥~

“Thank you so much for making your way here.” Jimin shook hands with the woman managing the nearest tow truck agency.

They had once again woken up to their parents calling them for updates. Followed by an unnecessarily long lecture. Unfortunately, they chose not to help them out and left them to figure out how to solve the issue on their own. Taehyung’s Alpha mother wanted to come there and get them, but the other two omega parents overruled her decision.

“No problem. I can take both you and the car to our workshop but I’m not sure how long it will take to fix the car until we assess the damage.”

“What if they say you have to buy a new car?” Taehyung whispered into his mate’s ear which earned him his daily whack on the head.

“I’m sure it’s not that serious. Probably only a few hours of work.”

The journey into town was pretty short, but Taehyung has once again fallen asleep on Jimin’s shoulder. His sleeping habits didn’t surprise the elder anymore.

The town was small and filled with clustered streets of tiny houses and shops.

“So, you have two choices.” The woman who introduced herself as Ryu spoke. “We have a lot of vehicles in repair today, so both options will take a while.”

“Will it take more than a day?”

“Both options won't be able to be completed today. If you're in a rush, you could book a bus and we could deliver the vehicle to where ever you’re going at an added cost of course.”

“What exactly is wrong with the car?”

“So, as you assumed, the fuel tank has an issue. We could patch it up and you would be good to go by tomorrow morning. However, that option would not be the best if you still have a long way ahead of you. Don’t know how long it will hold up before it starts leaking again.”

“And what’s the second option?” Taehyung wasn’t fond of the first. It wasn’t safe.

“I would have to order in some parts which would take about two to three days and then replace the tank for you. I assure you there won’t be any issues with the tank for a good few years if you replace it.”

“And you would be able to send it to us once it’s done?”

“Yes. I would need to take down all your details and fill out some forms first, but you would get the car in perfect condition in a few days. We could even throw in general maintenance check if you wish.”

“Give us a minute to decide.” They went to confer on the side. “What should we do?”

“Second option.” The younger spoke without doubt. “Depends on the cost, but safety comes first.”

“We’re giving our real names though for the information page.”

“Obviously.” He rolled his eyes at a grinning Jimin.

That’s how they ended up leaving their car there for a few days and stood at the front of a closed sign. Luck really wasn’t on their sign.

“Ugh! Really? I think we’re cursed.” The younger wolf groaned. There were no busses going in or out that day.

“It says here there’s a bus tomorrow morning at eight.” Jimin could smell the younger’s distress a mile away. His inner omega was also whimpering.

“What are we going to do? We don’t even have the car to sleep in anymore!”

“Namu Cottage and Campsite.” Jimin read aloud confusing the other.

“What?”

“See.” The bulletin board had a few hotel and residential adverts pinned to it. Among the few, was the one Jimin was referring to. The advertised picture looked picturesque with lush green grass and well-built mini tents. There were some off-white cottages on the top half of the pamphlet as well.

“Okay, let’s go.” He would take a warm cottage over the cold night any day.

Counting your chickens before they hatch was never a good idea. Once more, they were struck with bad luck.

“We’ll take one of the tents.” Jimin forced out a smile. Apparently, the cottages were fully booked, and they only had a few camping spots left.

“What?” Taehyung quickly dragged Jimin to the side. “Let’s just go to a hotel. I can’t stay here all night.”

“I’m really tired baby.” It was Jimin’s turn to whine and pout. “I can’t walk anymore. It’s just one night.”

“But it’ll be so cold.”

“I’ll cuddle you tight.”

“But-”

“You can even continue your little roleplay game if you want to. Please?” And who was Taehyung if not a weak man for his mate’s puppy eyes.

With the bonfire lit by sundown it wasn’t as cold as they anticipated.

“At least we didn’t have to build it ourselves.” Taehyung grumbled. As much as he complained about the cold, he was the one to wrap his arms around Jimin to keep the elder warm.

“You would end up burning half the grounds if you tried.”

“Because I’m so hot?” He flipped the tables making the other laugh out loud.

“Sure. Let’s go with that.” They had the option of building their own small campfire or using the ready-made communal bonfire. It was obvious which option they went for.

“Are you two boyfrienths?” A tiny doe eyed boy stopped in front of them. They had watched the same kid run around the bonfire while his parents yelled at him to behave for the past ten minutes.

“Mhm. We are.” Jimin spoke in a high pitched baby voice. “What’s your name?”

“I’m Jungthook.”

“Jungthook?”

“Noooo, Jungthook. Like a cookie. A jungthookie.” They both melted as the boy tried to explain how to pronounce his name.

“Jungkook?” Taehyung asked again.

“Yeth. Jungthook.”

“Are you here with your parents?”

“Eomma, appa and famiwy fwenths.” They waved at the two individuals who were now glaring at them. It seemed the mother wasn’t too fond of their child making friends with two strangers. Understandable.

“I can see two teeth missing Jungkookie.” Taehyung poked his upper lip lightly.

“Mhm. Eomma said I’m going to be a sthrong wolf when I grow.” It was true. The small kid was developing much faster than most wolves. Canine baby teeth weren’t supped to fall until much later.

“You’re already a strong boy, aren’t you?” They ruffled his hair.

“I am, but Namjoon hyung is sthronger.”

“Who is Namjoon hyung?”

“He’s my besthest fwienth.”

“Is he here too?”

“Mhm, there the is.” He pointed at a slightly older kid walking around a camper van. “I’m gonna mate him when I geth older.”

“Jungkook! Don’t say things like that.” The woman who they recognized as his mother scolded him from a far. “You know he’s going to present as an Alpha and you might too.”

“Sowwy eomma.” The kid put his head down in shame.

“Want to know a secret Jungkookie?” Taehyung pulled the boy closer.

“Secreth?” Curiosity sparkled in the little one’s eyes.

“I’m Tata and this is my mate Chimmy. We’re both omegas.” He whispered.

“Really?” Jimin hushed at him in an angry tone. “To a kid?”

“You said I could.” Fortunately for Taehyung, Jungkook spoke up before Jimin could reply.

“Omegas?” They cooed at how wide his eyes got at that secret. “But you’re boyfrienths and mates.”

“We are.” He could see Jungkook’s mom making her way over. “We love each other a lot and we wanted to be together.”

“Didn’t your parenths get angwy? Is that why you’re alone here at nigth?” Jungkook’s little fingers covered his mouth in shock.

“No sweetie. Our parents always told us to be and love who ever we want.” Jimin explained to him. “Doesn’t matter if they are an Alpha, Beta or Omega.”

“What lies are you feeding my child?” The mother overheard a little bit of their conversation. “Jungkook go to your appa.”

“But Eom-”

“Jungkook!” His lip wobbled at her raised voice towards him. Their heart broke for the little boy who ran to his father in tears.

“Ma’am-”

“I don’t know what your parents taught you, but don’t feed him those sickening ideas!”

“We were only-” Jimin's bubblegum scent soured. He was almost at the brink of tears from how harsh the woman spoke to him.

“I don’t care! Just stay away from my son!” She spat and stormed off.

Taehyung quickly wrapped his arms around Jimin the minute she left. “Shh, it’s okay pup. Some people are too thick headed to see through their own beliefs.”

“But we didn’t say anything wrong.”

“No, we didn’t say anything wrong. We didn’t. Shh.” He let Jimin nuzzle into his neck and scent him as he did the same back.

Meeting people like this was unavoidable. Their home town had already accepted the two together, so they didn’t get as much hate there.

“Wanna go cuddle and sleep?”

“Yes please.” Jimin wrapped his legs around the younger as he carried him to the tent. They were both each other’s baby after all.

“Excuse me ma’am.” Taehyung stopped at in front of Jungkook’s mother on the way back.

“What do you want now?”

“I have no right to say this but, your son seems to really like that Namjoon kid.” All of them turned to see the two kids tacking each other to the floor as they played around. “You should try to be a little more open and understanding before you end up hurting or worse, losing him.”

He walked away with Jimin in his arms before the woman could throw anymore insults at them.

“Thank you.” A sleepy Jimin mumbled into his neck.

“Anything for my Chimmy.”

“Mmm.” They shared a few kisses once they got into the sleeping bags. “Goodnight my Tata.”

“Goodnight pup, I love you.”

“I love you too baby.”

~❥~

Late to the party, but finally, their luck showed up. They had found their way to the bus stop and got their tickets just before a whole group of tourists booked the rest of the bus full.

The bus was roomy with five rows of four seats. Two by each window. Once the huge group of tourists took their place, there were only two empty seats. One reserved for the driver and the other occupied by a suitcase that didn’t fit in the luggage compartment.

“Hello,” The people around them greeted as the bus started moving.

“Hello, nice to meet you.” Jimin spoke in the best English he could muster.

“Nice to meet you too. Do you stay here or visiting?”

“We’re passing through, but we live in this country.”

“My family and I,” A white haired male gestured to everyone else who chimed in with greetings. “are here for holidays and a wedding.”

“A wedding?” Taehyung’s interest didn’t go unnoticed by Jimin.

“Yes, my sister lives here. We came for her wedding.” The sister and bride to be bowed in greeting.

“Drinks are ready!” Another person towards the front yelled down. This was followed by a huge round of cheering as the alcoholic drinks were passed down the bus.

“Take some.” The same man encouraged them.

“Thank you but-”

“Come on, we are celebrating. Have some.” It seemed they had got themselves stuck in a wedding bus. Not exactly a wedding bus, but everyone else there was from the same group and celebrating the same cause.

“Here.” He passed Taehyung who was beside the window a drink. Their wolf instincts didn’t sense any danger so they both decided to let loose.

“I am Biryl.” White haired man then proceeded to introduce everyone else but with the alcohol in their system, the names all seemed to mesh into one.

“Jee and Vante.” Jimin tried to suppress his giggles as he introduced them. Taehyung however didn’t even try to be subtle when he burst out laughing,

“Don’t drink too much baby.” Jimin turned to him with flushed cheeks.

“You’re just as bad as me.” They giggled again.

“What do you two do?” Everyone in the bus had attuned to their conversation.

“Vante here,” The elder poked Taehyung’s cheek. “Is an artist.” A blatant lie of course.

“And Jee is an idol trainee.” Van- Taehyung chimed in followed by a chuckle from the other.

Jimin was in fact a trainee but definitely not an idol trainee. He was a medical trainee in hopes of being a neurosurgeon someday. Taehyung on the other hand, studied psychology but dreams to be a university lecturer in that field.

“Idol trainee and artist? Wow! Good luck to you both on your journey.” They clinked their plastic cups.

“Your parents are okay with you pursuing art?” The bride to be seemed shocked. They guessed she was one of those people who saw subjects such as art as a hobby rather than career.

“Actually, they didn’t. We don’t live with them anymore. Kicked out.” The younger didn’t know if his words were coming out coherently.

“Kicked out? But why?”

“We’re mates.” The mated couple intertwined their hands.

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“We’re omegas.”

“So?” It looked like she was not understanding.

“Same sub gender couples are looked down upon here unless they’re Betas.”

“Really?” She was going through some sort of culture shock. “Where I am from, it is all accepted. Love is love.”

“We feel the same.” They gave each other a loving smile.

“You’re a very beautiful couple. I hope your parents will see how strong your love and bond is.”

“Thank you. We hope so too.” There was always a lingering guilt every time they lied.

“In the meantime, enjoy. You can share the drinks and food. Have fun.” She laughed and got up to join the small crowd who cheered for her. It seemed these people didn’t care if the bus was moving, they were all clustered around the middle dancing and having the time of their life.

“Wanna dance?”

“I might puke if I move that much.” The elder complained.

“Come on! We won’t have this chance again.” Tae dragged him to the dancing bodies.

“Come join the fun!” One of the teens pulled them closer to the center.

By the end of the hour they had danced and got acquainted with almost everyone in the other group. They were also heavily drunk by the time they got back into what they thought were their seats.

“I love you so much.” Jimin suckled lightly at the other’s scent gland on his neck.

“Mmm, I love you too pup.” None of them were conscious enough to think straight.

“You’re the love of my life.”

“No, you’re the love of my life.”

“But I love you more.”

“No me more!” They fought like tiny babies.

“You rejected me at first, so I win.” Jimin would never fail to bring up the younger’s little lapse in judgement when they presented.

“That’s not fair.” Tae pushed the other away.

“Aww, is my baby bear angry?”

“Very angry.” He even audibly ‘hmph’-ed.

“Don’t be angry my precious baby bear mate love of my life.”

“No,” Taehyung pulled his hands away from the other. “You don’t love me anymore.”

“Nooo, I love you the most.”

“Prove it then.” Their little argument made absolutely no sense but was extremely endearing to the people around them.

“Everybody,” Jimin swayed as he stood. “This man beside me is the love of my life. The only one I will ever love and none of you can have him!” He yelled out in pride. “Not even you Ms.Bride.”

The crowd cheered at the love confession.

“I’m getting married so I don-”

“Are you trying to say we don’t love each other because we’re not getting married?” Everyone laughed at how cute Jimin looked when he tried to be intimidating.

“I would neve-” The bride was once again interrupted by the adorable mated omegas.

“We’re going to get married first! Then you will see we love each other more.” Taehyung stated boldly.

“I’m getting married tomorrow.” The bride provoked them with amusement in her tone.

“Then we’ll get married today.” They both nodded their heads like the puppies they were. “Right here, right now.”

“I, Kim Vante take Park Jee,” He stopped to giggle at their inside joke. Even in a drunken state they remained in character. “as my husband-”

Jimin didn’t even wait for his mate to finish his vows before he began his own. “I Park Jee take Kim Tae- I mean KIM VANTE hehe,” He looked around suspiciously.

“But you don’t have wedding rings.” The bride chided again.

“Oh no!” With a frown on his face he turned around to seek for help.

“You can use mine!” A little girl struggled to take out her plastic ring. It was bright yellow and had a lopsided baby chick poorly painted on.

“Thank you, my lady.” Taehyung bowed down with exaggeration.

“What about me?” Jimin pouted.

“Have this one.” A different person gave up their ring for the better cause. This one was daintier with only a silver band. However, the daintiness was ruined by a chunky green jewel glued to the top.

“We now pronounce you husbands.” The crowd cheered after they exchanged rings. “Congratulations!”

“I concede. You win.” The bride celebrated along and gave in.

“See,” Jimin flopped down beside Taehyung. “I told you I love you the most.”

“Sleepy.” Came the other’s response as he side-hugged his mate and fell asleep in his shoulder.

“Get up sleepy head. We’re finally here.”

“I think my head’s going to explode.” Taehyung tried to blink the pain away and adjust to the brightness.

“Who told you to drink that much.”

“You drank the same amount.”

“Yet here I am. No headache at all.” Despite not having a headache, they both looked quite disheveled from the long journey.

“Show off.” He scoffed.

As the bus came to a stop, he looked out of the window to see fast cars and tall buildings. It was quite different from their little town, but they were used to it. They had been to the city a few times over the years.

“It was very nice to meet you all.” The couple bowed to the group who had travelled with them.

“Yes, very nice. Thank you for joining us.”

“No, no thank you for welcoming us.”

“Good luck to the both of you. Wishing you a happy married life.” The bride gave them both hugs.

“Married?” Taehyung whispered in alarm after they flagged down a cab to take them home.

“You don’t remember?”

“No?”

“Look at your finger.” Jimin knew how the other had a tendency to blank out when he got really drunk.

“What the fuck?” He stared at the green stoned ring. “What the fuck?” He repeated when he saw Jimin’s yellow one. “We got married?”

“Not officially, but yep. We’re husbands now.”

“What? But,” The younger frowned. “I don’t remember it.”

“It wasn’t official baby.” Jimin laughed.

“Oh.”

The rest of the ride back home was silent. Taehyung was still sulking at having no memory of their marriage and Jimin was in deep thought.

“Home sweet home.” Tae dumped their backpack on the ground. Their shared apartment was a one bedroom with a tiny living room and joint kitchen upon entering.

“Anywhere with you is home.”

“Your first words in our new place.” Tae wrapped his arms around Jimin in a back hug. “Let’s go build our nest.” He lightly squeezed his waist and left a kiss on his shoulder before heading to the room.

Much to Taehyung’s dismay, the sheets were new and didn’t have Jimin’s scent, so he didn’t have much material to build his nest.

“We can build it later.” The elder flopped onto the bed like a starfish. The exhaustion was finally catching up to them.  “Come here. Cuddles first.”

Without another thought Taehyung, moved towards the outstretched hands and completely engulfed his mate.

“You’re so heavy.”

“You love it.” He began properly scenting his mate after so long.

Only a hum was heard in response. Just like a weighted blanket, it was comforting to have his mate fully resting on top of him. He felt safe and protected under the familiar weight.

“Shower?” Jimin asked from beneath only to receive a whine in return. “Food?” Another whine was heard. “Unpacking?” The loudest whine was heard making the elder laugh. “Sleep?” The was given a very positive response. “Okay baby. Let’s sleep.”

“Good night hubby.” A sleepy TaeTae mumbled. With the elder beneath him and fingers stroking through his hair, Taehyung fell into a deep slumber.

However, his other half was plagued with heavy thoughts. He got his phone out and sent his parents a quick text before opening up the web browser to type in ‘How to propose to your mate?’

~❥~

“Do we really have to get up?” Despite sleeping so much and late into the next day, they both still felt extremely tired. Their heat cycles were synced and pre heat would definitely be showing up in a few days.

“We don’t have anything to do today. Sleep more.” They had shifted positions in the night to Jimin laying on top of Taehyung’s chest with a hand wrapped around his waist.

“Baby?” Jimin’s voice cut the silence after a few minutes.

Maybe the other was already asleep. “Hmm?” However, his response came immediately after.

“Back at the bus, were you really upset when you couldn’t remember our fake marriage?”

“I wasn’t upset… Okay maybe a little bit. It was our fake marriage so it’s okay but for the real one, I don’t want to forget a single moment.”

“Real one?”

Taehyung froze at the words Jimin fixated on. It wasn’t common for wolves to get married. Mating was the strongest bond, so marriage was usually unnecessary.

“Um- uh no pressure or anything. But I’ve always wanted a grand wedding and all. If you’re not into it, we don’t have to.” He was scared Jimin would be able to feel how fast his heart was pounding.

“Why didn’t you say anything before?” A soft non-judgmental voice replied.

“I- I don’t know. I guess I was afraid.” He sighed. “I know it isn’t common to get married and to most wolves it’s just a useless use of money so-”

“I would never think that.”

“I know.” A tinge of shame ran through him. “I was just scared.”

“Aww, my baby.” The elder pushed off his chest and hovered over him. “You know I would do anything for you right? If you want to get married-”

“Only when you’re ready.” Jimin’s chest bloomed in love for his mate and how insecure he was about this.

“In that case.”

“What?”

“Kim Taehyung.” Jimin addressed him using his full and real name. “Will you marry me?”
