Work Text:

Chuuya was spending the evening sprawled on the couch together with Shuuji. The ginger duo was scrolling something on Chuuya's iPad when Dazai, who just got back, walked in on them.

"You're home early." The brunet pointed out, getting comfortable with his clothes.

"Yeah, it's Friday night and I thought we could bring Shuuji to the cinema."

"Cinema? Are we going to watch a movie about dogs again?" Dazai teased, gracefully evading the pillow thrown his way.

"Shut up. Shuuji will be the one picking the movie!" He told his husband, face tinted with pink as he remembered all the teasing remarks shot his way when he cried over that one dog movie.

"Yeah? What are we watching then?" The brunet skipped his way to the two, pressing his lips on top of Chuuya's head then the 4 years old. "That's a horror movie."

"Shuuji, what if you can't sleep?" Chuuya frowned at the choices Shuuji was looking at.

"Sleep with mommy and daddy." Little Shuuji answered, pointing to a film. "This?"

Both parents looked at his final choice. A Thai horror movie. "Can he even enter the cinema?"

"Don't you want to watch something else?" Dazai asked- just to be sure- but the small redhead shook his head no. He glanced over his husband and grinned. "Chuuya's not scared, is he?"

"A-As if!" The mafioso huffed. "Alright then, let's go."

How scary can a movie be, right?

Chuuya was wrong . The movie was a nightmare.

He suppressed a yelp and peeked over his husband when the ghost's face filled the entire screen. Of course, Dazai that freak barely showed any reaction.

His attention shifted to Shuuji who was watching with both eyes wide in curiosity, no sign of fear.

Oh my God, are we raising a little psychopath?

At that moment, Dazai turned his head, smirking at Chuuya's obvious horror of the movie. But instead of making faces and mocking him, he held out a hand for the ginger to hold which Chuuya took gratefully.

"Mommy are you scared?" He then heard Shuuji whisper.

"I'm not. It's just getting a bit chilly." The man reasoned and Shuuji nodded, using both hands to hold onto Chuuya's free one in an attempt to warm him.

Dazai merely snickered at the blatant lie.

As the movie climaxed, an embarrassing scream slipped past Chuuya's lips and from the look he was giving him, Dazai was trying very hard to hold in his laughter.

How humiliating!

It'd be the end of him if Shuuji saw him looking like this.

He peered down at the 4 years old and wasn't sure if he should be relieved or surprised by the fact that he was deep asleep.

"We are raising a psychopath." He concluded.

The movie ended 15 minutes later and Shuuji was far gone in his slumber.

Chuuya got up from his seat, cracking some bones before bending down to pick the boy up. However, a hand came between him and Shuuji and he looked up to see none other than his husband.

"Let me." He said gently and held Shuuji in his arms, making sure his jacket was covering him properly so he wouldn't feel cold as they walked home.

"Okay." Was all Chuuya said as he watched them fondly, forgetting about the movie as they made their way back home, arms linked together.

They put Shuuji to bed as soon as they arrived, tucking him in before getting ready for bed themselves.

It wasn't until he's asleep in the middle of night. Chuuya felt a nudge on his arm which he tried to ignore but it got more persistent and it even resorted to pinching.

" What !?" He growled in annoyance, blinking his eyes open and finding his husband hovering over him with a pout clear in his face.

"Chuuya, I can't sleep!"

"Oh God , come here you big baby."

So much for putting up a strong front in front of their child.
