A Painful Look Into The Future

Summary:

After Casita is rebuilt and they all have their gifts back. Bruno has a vision, he never chose to have one and it’s the most painful his visions has ever been. He looks into the future and see’s places outside the Encanto, so much going on all over the world and several jade tablets afterwards. He can’t shake those images from his head, causing him to be unaware of what is real and happening in the Encanto, and what he saw in the vision.

Chapter Text

Everything that had happened was insane to Bruno, the past ten years felt like forever but the pats few days felt like only a few hours, the miracle died and came back all so soon and then Casita was rebuild so fast. But he was happy to be back home with his familia, he was happy to finally be able to talk to them and eat dinner with them properly. Even if he had changed a lot with all his new habits and how he viewed and interpreted things.

It was about a month after they had all gotten their gifts back, Bruno hadn’t used his gift again yet since he got it back. And honestly? He was glad when he didn’t have it back, and felt sad when he got it back. But he didn’t let any of that on. He was always happy to be around them, and often would go into Pepa or Julieta’s room at night and cuddle with them. And sleepovers weren’t uncommon now either. They accepted him back in happily and his mother was now nicer to him. Treating him differently, but in a good way.

He was sitting at the dining room table with his family. They were all laughing and talking, Bruno staying quiet but still part of the conversation, a warm feeling in his heart at it all, loving to see them all together as he sits at the proper table and not his little table in his little room. He loved to be acknowledged by them and loved to be near them.

He was about to put another forkful of food into his mouth before he felt a strong pang in his eyes, one he hadn’t felt in decades. He drops the fork with a yelp, trying not to scream as he put his hands up to his eyes and doubling over a little, his head close to the table.
He knew this feeling all to well. He hadn’t had an involuntary vision in years, and he hadn’t had a vision this painful in many years. Some of his old visions had left him temporarily blinded for a day or so which Julieta couldn’t even heal. He hopes this wasn’t one of them.

He tries to control his breathing while the pain only gets worse, his breathing becoming uneasy as he started to feel his head spinning. Everyone stops and looks at him, all giving him worried looks, his hermana’s and his mama knowing what’s happening all to well.

“Hermanito, can you hear me? We can take you to your room. Is this a bad one?” Julieta looks over and gently rubs his back filled with worry. He went to reply but all that came out his mouth was sounds of pain. The fine sand in the floor swirling around the place a little, the wind picking up but they knew it wasn’t Pepa this time.

The youngest of the kids were starting to get scared Antonio starting to get Ulster and gets picked up by felix and taken out of the room. Mirabel and Camilo not having an idea of what was going on or what was happening, but the older ones had a small idea of what was happening but concerned none the less.

Dolores had heard him in pain before due to visions, she had kept him secret from the family for ten years and had heard al L the times he tripped or cried or knocked on wood. Heard everything he did and didn’t do but feeling unable to help. She hadn’t heard him in pain like this for a long time and was even more worried. But was able to let it show this time.

Julieta stood up and helped Bruno up, Bruno only managing to whine and groan, also being unable to see as his head spin and any vision blurred with green. Alma also got up and goes over and helps, Julieta and Alma leading Bruno away and out of the room, his pain only starting to get worse the more the vision was put off. They led him up to his room, the stairs mostly gone now but still a hundred or two.

They lead him up and let him into his vision cave, he walks in and sat down in the centre as the door swung and slammed shut, Julieta and Alma aware they couldn’t get back in, looking at the door before they start to walk down the stairs and after a minute they heard him screaming from the pain, they stop and look back at the door, listening it echo through the ever going room. They knew they couldn’t get back in the vision cave so they continued to walk back down and head to the kitchen. Looking at the others. Julieta wanted to reassure Mirabel that her Tío would be okay but she couldn’t even convince herself he would be okay.

When they get back down, they saw Pepa was getting a plateful of food for Bruno to eat afterwards and a big glass of water to go with it. It was clear Dolores could hear him by the way she was covering her ears and shaking a little. The others were now more concerned and they were dismissed from dinner. Some going up to their room and others helping out around the place.

They didn’t know what else to do. Occasionally hearing Bruno in pin or a scream. Everyone feeling guilty that they couldn’t help. Felix and Agustín tried to get their wives to come to bed but both of them were pacing around in front of Bruno’s door. Pepa with a heavy rain cloud which had her soaked but she didn’t care. The others watching for a bit. The children of the family having a sleepover in Julieta’s room. Julieta and Pepa waited all night for Bruno to come out, for the seemingly never-ending-vision to end. But he didn’t come out. And they couldn’t get in the vision cave. They couldn’t hear him anymore and assumed that he had passed out.

Soon enough Alma managed to convince Pepa and Julieta to go to bed too, the pair sigh and go to bed. Pepa gets changed into dry clothes and the pair cuddle up with their family in Julieta’s room. Alma waiting outside and walks up the stairs in Bruno’s room and waist by the vision cave door. Trying to open it but alas a fail. She called out to him but no reply. She got a chair and sat by the cave door, waiting for him. She was worried about him and stayed awake most of the night. Having the rats to keep her company who were equally concerned about him.
