Chapter Text
Gregory thought that after escaping the popular Pizzaplex after being chased by every animatronic, except Freddy, that he’d feel calm and relieved.
However, that wasn’t the case.
Even with the ice cream in his hand, bought by the security guard that was looking, though in Gregory’s case, hunting him. Gregory still didn’t feel at peace with himself. He glanced at Vanessa, who was eating her ice cream in silence as her eyes stared blankly at the distance.
Speaking of Vanessa, the security guard was thinking to herself about how she was able to break free of the curse. She’s been stuck with that curse for a year, maybe two, she lost track of time. It should’ve felt like a miracle to break free from Glitchtrap, but it’s too late. Vanessa, under the influence of Glitchtrap caused her to commit so many crimes that she shouldn’t be with society! Heck why is she near a child she, as Vanny, tried to kill and why is she now sitting near him watching a sunrise?
Vanessa sighed as she looked at her almost completely eaten ice cream cone. “Are you alright, Officer Vanessa?” Vanessa blinked and turned to Freddy, or at least his head.
Yep one thing to add to her list of crimes; stealing stolen property! Though that seems to be shared with Gregory.
“Yeah. Just thinking.” Vanessa replied.
“About what?” Gregory asked. Vanessa’s eyes widened as she turned to Gregory, who looked worried.
“Just about what to do now.”
“Oh. Same.” Gregory responded.
“What are you going to do?” Vanessa asked, after taking another bite of her ice cream.
Gregory finished off his ice cream, and wiped his face with his arm. “Go home with Freddy.” He replied. Gregory tossed the ice cream cone aside and took Freddy’s head ready to head home.
Vanessa took the last bites of her ice cream, and got up. “Want me to take you home?” She asked.
Gregory froze as he turned to face the security guard. “N-no. I can find my way home from here.” He replied.
“Are you sure?” Vanessa asked. “I’d be glad to walk you home. Make sure you're safe and sound.”
“No. That’s okay. I’ll be fine.” Gregory held Freddy’s head tight and started walking towards “home.”
Vanessa frowned, and sighed. She wanted to help Gregory after failing to do so back at the Pizzaplex, and also tell his family about where he is and what happened, with keeping some stuff quiet so they wouldn’t worry. Maybe telling Gregory’s parents that they can have lifetime passes to the Pizzaplex might calm their worries.
Seeing Gregory was far enough, Vanessa decided it was best to follow him to make sure he did make it home safely. At first, Vanessa thought Gregory would spot her following him, but the kid held Freddy close as he walked. Vanessa stopped as she saw Gregory turn the corner to an alleyway. Confused, she followed him until she stopped in her tracks. She turned the corner and her eyes widened seeing Gregory put Freddy’s head in a large box before going in himself.
“Gregory!” Vanessa shouted.
Gregory stuck his head out and was surprised to see Vanessa had followed him. Vanessa walked closer to him and kneeled down to face him.
“Please.” Vanessa sighed. “Please don’t tell me this is your home.”
Gregory opened his mouth wanting to lie to Vanessa, but something in her eyes made him stay quiet. He slowly nodded in reply.
“W-what about your parents? Where are they?” Vanessa’s expression changed when she saw tears in Gregory’s eyes. From the look in those eyes, something terrible had happened to Gregory’s parents. She’d ask, but she wasn't a therapist. Still, despite all this, she couldn’t stand Gregory living like this. “Y-you can’t be living in this kind of condition.”
“I-I’ll be fine.” Gregory whispered in reply.
“Gregory.” Freddy spoke up. “For once I agree with Officer Vanessa. I don’t think a kid isn’t supposed to be living in a box.”
“I’ve been living here just fine!” Gregory argued. As soon as he said that, the top part of the box broke and fell on Gregory’s head. With a sigh, he took the newspaper he used as a blanket, and made that his new roof.
Vanessa sighed, she hated seeing Gregory in this condition. She thought of something for a second, and gave a small smile. “Gregory, if it's okay with you, would you and Freddy like to live with me?” She asked.
Freddy smiled hearing that, while Gregory was more surprised that Vanessa was giving him this offer. “That doesn’t sound like a bad deal, Gregory. At least you’ll have somewhere warm, and safe to be.” He explained.
Gregory thought about the offer, the thought of staying in a warm, cozy house with a bed, TV, and warm food felt great. However, this is Vanessa he’ll be living with and while she was no longer possessed and evil, it still felt weird to be living with her. Gregory opened his mouth to decline the offer, but when he looked at Freddy’s eyes Gregory sighed in defeat.
“I guess I can come live with you.” Gregory replied. “But only for Freddy’s sake.”
Vanessa and Freddy smiled. The security guard held out her hand. He took Freddy’s head, and took Vanessa’s hand as they walked together to the security guard’s apartment.
