Summary
Naruto was a pariah to the people of Konohagakure, the Jinchūriki of the Nine Tailed Fox.
To most, Naruto was a demon. He was a terrible being that existed to bring great suffering to their world. That was, until they realized he was more than he seemed. When it was revealed that Naruto was able to use Wood Style, many quickly changed their attitudes. Suddenly, he was the village's future, its hope. In their mind's they saw a vision of the past, of the Shodaime crushing the enemies of Konoha with a wooden colossus.
It took many years for people to realize something.
Naruto was a failure.
