Wildmoore (&Jordan)

Summary:

Takes place between 3x10 and 3x11.
Minor spoilers for 3x10.

It's the evening after Jada gave her press statement to turn the people against Batwoman. The clinic was flooded with water, and Marquis escaped, Ryan is still very overwhelmed and Sophie wants to help.

Part 1 - Sophie invites Jordan to stay the night at her place, because she doesn't want to be alone. She tells Jordan about... well, everything. And Jordan is the supportive and hilarious mood, that we have come to know and love.

Notes:

Takes place at Sophie's apartment.
It's how I imagine that night might have gone.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jordan and Sophie sat on Sophie's couch, beers in hands. "Thank you for staying with me tonight. I really didn't want to be alone."

Jordan looked at her sister, concerned. "Yeah, of course. You didn't sound good on the phone. Is everything okay?"

Sophie put her beer down on the table and took a deep breath. "I need to tell you something... But..." She gave her sister her iconic "This-Is-Serious-Don't-Mess-It-Up"-look. "You can NOT tell anyone about this! I'm serious, Jordan!"

Her sister had a mischievous grin on her face. "Are you finally ready to admit, that you're into Ryan?"

"What? No! I mean... That's not what I wanted to talk to you about..." Sophie's cheeks were flushed.

"Right... Okay, then, what did you want to talk to me about?" Her sister did not sound convinced.

"Promise me you will keep this to yourself."

Jordan dramatically put a hand above her heart. "I promise, I will take your secret to the grave."

Sophie rolled her eyes, she was starting to regret, wanting to tell Jordan. But... she needed someone to talk to about all of this, and even though she would never admit it, her sister was always able to make her feel better, when she was overwhelmed. "Okay, so... You know how I've been working with Batwoman for a while now?"

"Yeah."

Sophie took a deep breath, hoping this wouldn't blow up in her face. "So... Ryan Wilder is Batwoman."

Jordan's mouth dropped open. Initially, there was shock on her face, but the surprise turned into excitement really quickly. She punched her sister's arm. "Are you kidding me?! That's so dope! And... it makes you and Ryan THAT much more perfect for each other!"

Sophie shook her head in disbelieve. "That's your take-away? I tell you Batwoman's secret identity and all you think about is my love life?"

Jordan grinned widely. "Think about it! Ryan probably can't date anyone, who doesn't know her secret identity, because she would have to lie to them all the time. And you already know she's Batwoman, and you are literally playing for her team! You can spend your nights together, fighting bad guys... getting closer." She nudged her sister's shoulder playfully and continued with a theatrical voice. "And one of those long nights, you'll heroically save her life, and you'll have an emotional heart-to-heart, that'll end in an epic kiss! I can help you come up with a plan, to make it happen!"

Sophie made a frustrated grunting sound. "Has anyone ever told you, that you might be too invested in my love life? Also, I didn't need my baby sister's help to kiss Ryan, okay?"

As soon as she said it, she wanted to kick herself. Had she just admitted to Jordan that she kissed Ryan??

"You didn't need my help?? Past tense? You and Ryan kissed?? What? When did that happen??"

Sophie took a big gulp of her beer. "That's hardly any of your business."

Jordan pretended like she didn't hear her sister. "How was it? What did Ryan say?"

Sophie shook her head. "Nope. We're not doing this."

Jordan made her best pouting face. "Oh, come on. I have been rooting for you both for months, don't I get any of the gossip?" She got serious for a second. "Soph, you were never able to share these type of things with me, because you weren't out. Things are different now, and I just want you to know, that you can talk to me about this stuff." She put her grin back on. "But just know that I will tease you about it any chance I get."

Sophie smiled and pulled her sister into a hug. "Thank you, sis. I appreciate that you're being so supportive...and annoying." She took a deep breath and said, "Things are complicated with Ryan and me... There's just a lot going on right now, and I think I need to give Ryan some space. That's actually why I called you. I didn't want to be alone, and I kept wanting to call Ryan, but I don't want to make things even more difficult than they already are, so I figured if you were here, I wouldn't do anything stupid."

Jordan pretended to be offended. "So, you're just using me? Kidding. But why are things complicated? Was that why you were so upset on the phone?"

Sophie leaned back against the couch. "There is just too much going on in our lives right now. Especially in Ryan's. That's why I told you about her being Batwoman, because I need someone to talk to about this... It's just... She has so much on her plate, with Jada turning the people against her, and her brother escaping..." Jordan opened her mouth, to say something, but Sophie stopped her. "Don't even ask, it's a long story... And she's worried about Mary, and she feels guilty for losing Wayne Enterprises, and the list goes on and on... I just don't know how to help her."

Jordan thought for a moment. "Maybe it'll already help if you're just here for her. Just to listen and to be her support system, you know? Just let her know that she's not alone."

Sophie eyed her sister with suspicion. "When did you become the smart one in the family?"

Jordan grinned. "Oh, I've always been the smart one, sis."

They shared a laugh, when they heard a loud thud on the balcony. Sophie jumped up and put a finger over her lips, to signal Jordan to be quiet.

Sophie's curtains were closed, but she could see a shadow moving outside. She grabbed a kitchen knife on her way to the balcony doors, which gave her déjà vu from when Alice was staying with her. She was about to pull the curtain open, when she heard a soft knock on the glass. She peeked through the gap between the curtains and relaxed her shoulders. It was just Ryan. Wait, it was Ryan!! She put the knife down, quickly ran her fingers through her hair, drew the curtains back, and opened the balcony door.
