Work Text:
Stan pulled out a flip phone and checked the time.
“2:30 huh?” Stan thought out loud. Stan put the cigarette in his mouth and took a deep breath in and breathed it out. “Must be 4th period right now then,” Stan chuckled. “Xe must still be in school then, heh nerd,”
Stan leaned against a tree and looked at his flip phone. Stan flipped it open and clicked the message button and pulled up Xeno’s contact.
2 missed messages.
“Oops, missed those,” Stan playfully rolled his eyes.
Best Boyfriend
Xeno: Stanely…
Xeno: Don’t tell me you skipped again
“Aww shit, called me Stanely,” Stan smirked a bit. “He’s going to kill me later.
Best Boyfriend
Xeno: Stanely…
Xeno: Don’t tell me you skipped again
You: Ooops Sorry Xe
Xeno: I’m guessing it’s because of the test we had in chemistry?
You: Caught me
You: Didn’t have time to study.
Xeno: I offered to tutor you
You: Yeahhh
You: But I’d end up just kissing you the whole time.
Xeno: Sounds like an excuse.
You: Awww I just want to kiss my boyfriend
Xeno: And I’d like mine to graduate.
You: Don’t you have a test?
Xeno: I finished already
You: See now you can tell me the answers.
Xeno: Excuse me
You: Don’t act like it’s under you
Xeno: One day I’ll force you to study.
You: I love you too
Xeno: Let me guess,
Xeno: You’re in the forest.
You: You’re supposed to say I love you back
You: How’d you know?
Xeno: When are you not?
You: You know me so well.
Xeno: Oh shit
Xeno: teacher saw me
Xeno: Talk to you later
Stan snorted a bit. It was so like Xeno to type out the whole sentence instead of “ttyl”. So elegant and formal even since they were kids. Stan went to put his phone back in his pocket when his phone started to ring.
“Huh? I thought Xe said he had to go..,” Stan said as he brought the phone back up to his face. “Oh shit,” Stan groaned.
Old man
Stan sighed before opening the phone and bringing it to his ear. “Yeah?”
“God damn it Stan!” His father’s all so kind voice greeted him. “I just got a call from the front office,”
“Oh, what did they tell yeah,” Stan deadpanned.
“You know already,” His father scoffed.
“Whatever do you mean,” Stan sarcastically sang back.
“They said you didn’t show up to any of your classes today,” Stan’s father groaned.
“Oh yeah, I didn’t,” Stan bluntily stated.
“Ughhh son of a bitch,” Stan’s father mumbled uder his breath. “I already talked to you about this Stanely,”
“Give me a break, we had a test today,” Stan rolled his eyes.
“So you skipped the whole day?” Stan swore he could se his father’s expression of annoyance through the phone. “Could you at least pretend you care?”
“Relax old man, It’s my senior year. The only person stressing out is you,” Stan replied. “I got my plan after high school and everything,”
“Your plan is just to join the militar after high school,” His father reminded.
“Yup,”
“Me and your mother did not go thr-,” Stan’s father started when Stan flipped his phone close.
He didn’t need his father’s guilt trips right now.
“I didn’t skip school to be lectured by my own dad,” Stan groaned.
Stan took another breath in of his cigarette before breathing it out. Skipping was supposed to be relaxing and now he was on edge again.
Can’t go home or Mom and Dad will chew me out and can’t stay here all afternoon…
Stan pinched the bridge of his nose.
Xe won’t mind if I crashed at his place until he got back.
Stan dropped his cigarette and stomped it out with his foot.
“He’ll only be gone for one more hour after all,” Stan shrugged.

“Thanks again Xeno,” The robotics teacher thanked Xeno as he walked out.
“No problem sir,” Xeno waved as he walked out of the robotics room. Xeno pulled up his sleeve to look at his watch.
4:30
“Hmm, later than I expected,” Xeno thought out loud.
Xeno had stopped by the robotics room to help a friendly acquaintance with his code. Ended up helping a lot of the other robotic students as well. Xeno went through the front gates of the school and started his walk home. His was wasn’t too far from the school and the walk was a good time to calm down. Spring was coming but wasn’t quite there yet, so for Texas that meant, warm days with shorter daylight. Even at 4:30, the sun was already halfway set. Xeno pulled out his iPod and plugged his earbuds into the jack to listen to some music on the walk. Cars whizzing by and the sounds of the outlet mall were mostly blocked out by the calming piano playing. Xeno took the shortcut through the back of the school. A small trail and cutting through an alleyway, Xeno was in his neighborhood. Xeno fished out his house key from his pocket and put it in the lock and turned. The metal clicked and Xeno let himself in.
“I’m home, Xeno called into the quiet house. Xeno waited for a response but none came.”Still at work huh?” Xeno sighed and slipped off his shoes. Having the house to himself meant having to cook dinner for himself again. “Hot pockets again it seems,” Xeno walked to his room.
Xeno got in front of his bedroom door and went to open it when a old breeze blew past his ankles.
What the…?
Xeno check the thermostat on the wall and it was set to the heater at 74 degrees.
Strange…
Xeno pushed open the door a bit slower to see what was going on inside and when he saw his window was slightly cracked open he knew what was going on. Not too much, but it was clear someone had been there. Xeno glanced at his bed and found Stan completely passed out on top of Xeno’s bed. Xeno didn’t know whether to scold Stan or let him rest. Just looking at his boyfriend’s face, he could tell he was tired. Xeno took a deep breath and quietly slipped his backpack off his shoulders.
That Idiot
Xeno thought but couldn’t help but smile a little. Xeno closed his window and turned the locks back into place.
“Hmgnnn,” Xeno looked over at Stan slowly waking up.
“Morning Stan,” Xeno greeted his dazed partner.
“Hmm? Oh hey Xe,” Stan yawned. “What time is it?” Stan looked around the room.
“4:45,” Xeno replied.
“Hmh why are you home so late?” Stan rumbled his eyes.
“Had to help an acquaintance in the Robotics club,” Xeno explained, getting out his homework form his backpack and putting it on his desk.
“Geeez Ap classes look rough,” Stan commented.
“Well, if you do the work on time it’s not too bad,” Xeno sighed sitting in his desk chair. “But I wouldn’t bore you with details, just go back to sleep,”
“I’m guessing your folk ain't here yet?” Stan asked but sounded more like a statement.
“Yup,”
“I see,” Stan replied.
Xeno opened his Social studies textbook and started to read the assigned pages. Xeno’s pencil traced the words as he read them in his mind, but even that didn’t help. He could feel this morning's coffee wearing off as he read. Could he join his boyfriend and take a quick nap? He could but looking at all the pages he had to read… He could sleep when he was dead.
Xeno’s eyes traced over the same few sentences before it fully processed. Xeno rested his elbow on his armrest and leaned his head on his palm. Stan had been quiet for a good amount of time so Xeno was going to take as his chance to get coffee. Xeno was about to get out of his chair when he went arms wrapped around his neck.
“Heh I didn’t even hear you get up,” Xeno laughed a bit.
“Practice,” Stan hummed.
“Impressive,” Xeno commented back.
“Isn’t it?” Stan rested his head on Xeno’s shoulder.
“Shouldn’t you be asleep?” Xeno asked.
“With my boyfriend right here?” Stan placed light kissed Xeno’s hair.
“Wait…. Stanley I!”
“I meant cuddling dumbass,” Stan started to cackle.
“Your wording could use work,” Xeno blushed. “And thank you Stan but I have work to do. Plus if my parents catch you here they’ll kill you to put it lightly,”
“They don’t come back until 9 right?” Stan asked.
“Yes, but-,”
“That’s long enough,” Stan hummed.
“Temping Stanely, it is, but I have homework to do,”
Stan lifted his head from Xeno’s shoulders and spin Xeno’s chair around to face him.
“ And how’s that going?” Stan smirked.
“Fine,” Xeno tried to lie but couldn’t look Stan in the eyes.
“Hmmh sureee~,” Stan statistically sang. “Anddd up yeah go!” Stan grabbed Xeno’s arm and pulled him up off his seat.
“Stan-,” Xeno tried to say but was already on his feet.
“See, not that hard Xe,” Stan smiled.
Xeno sighed. “What’s the likelihood you’ll let this go?” Xeno asked.
“Like… 5%,” Stan replied.
Xeno rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Fine,”
“See, how hard was that?” Stan teased.
“Your impossible,” Xeno yawned.
“And you love me,” Stan kissed Xeno’s forehead.
“I guess I do,” Xeno’s lips pulled into a small smile.
The two got into Xeno’s bed. Stan had had an arm over Xeno’s waist and pulled Xeno’s back closer to his chest. Xeno put his hand over Stan’s and let himself relax into Stan. At this point, the motion get like muscle memory. Like they had done this thousands of times before.

Stan groaned as he woke. It took Stan a second to figure out what woke him. He knew he was in Xeno’s place but he was still regaining an understanding of his surroundings.
“Xeno?” Stan almost shot up from bed when he heard that.
“Aw fuck, fuck,” Stan mumbled under his breath. “Hey Xe wakes up,” Stan shook his boyfriend.
“Hmmmh?” Xeno groaned.
“Your parents are here,”
“wahhh? They shouldn’t be here until 9,” Xeno waved off Stan.
“Xe it is 9,” Stan whispered in a rushed way.
“Xeno?” Xeno’s father asked again.
“Damn it,” Xeno mumbled under his breath. “Yeah, I’m here!” Xeno called back, trying his best to not sound like he just woke up. “I thought you had a timer set,”
“You were closer to the clock, I thought you did,” Stan whispered back.
“Alright alright, just get out,” Xeno nudged.
“Damn kicking me out of bed,” Stan teased.
“Stanely!” Xeno said through his teeth, still trying to be quiet.
“Right right,” Stan said quietly as he got out of bed.
Xeno quickly fixed His hair as Stan opened back up the window…. Maybe a bit too quick. The old window creaked when opened too fast.
“Xeno, Is someone with you?” Xeno’s mother asked.
“Nope, just need some fresh air,” Xeno lied.
“Nice lie,”
“Out,”
“Fine Fine,” Stan took one more kiss from Xeno’s lips and left out the window.
