“Tch damn that Kokuyo,” Magma’s father clicked his tongue. Magma watched his father clutch his fishing pole like he wanted to break it. “What does he know?” Magma’s father glared out at the sea. “He’s gone soft,”
Magma held out his fishing pole in the water, waiting for the line to pull. It was the first time his father took him out fishing all ahh Magma heard was his father ranting about the new Chief. Magma looked over at an empty straw bowl. The village had been going through a fanthem as of recently. Like all the fish had moved and no one could find them. It had caused tensions in the village. The grand bout was supposed to be the end of that tension. Kokuyo won the grand bout against Magma’s father but that only made tensions worse. Everyone was starving. Some men of the village took Magma’s father's side while others took Kokuyo’s.
I can do this.
Magma focused on his fishing line bobbing in the water.
Bopb
Magma’s line was tugged at. “Pull up boy!”
Magma tightened his grip on his fishing line and started to pull up. It was quite heavy too.
This- This has to be good.
Magma imagined how big the fish would be. Maybe it could feed the whole village. Magma kept pulling but it just wasn’t moving but it was fighting back.
Magma’s father put his hands on top of Magma’s and helped pull up. Suddenly it was so easy. The fish flew out the water and into the canoe. It flipped around for a second, its gills gasping for water before it stopped fighting. Magma’s mouth formed a smile. Magma picked up the fish by its tail and admired the size of it. It was just a bit bigger than his head.
“Hah father look-,” Magma turned around to show his father.
He thought his father would look proud but his father was just glaring at him.
“That little thing? How are we supposed to feed the village with that?” Magma’s father asked.
“I just thought-,” Magma thoughted.
“And you call yourself a man,” Magma’s father clicked his tongue.
.
.
.
As Magma trained harder and harder to be stronger, all he could hear was his father's words. Even his father and many of the other men of the village were banished, that little voice was still there.
And you call yourself a man.
.

“I don’t see why Senkuu can just make food with his sorcery,” Mantel groaned, pushing the canoe out to the water.
“Doesn’t matter. Even if he could, like hell I’m going to let that guy show me up,” Magma scoffed.
“But it’s so much easier,” Mantel pointed out.
“Come on man,” Carbo added. “We got a job to do,”
“Then why aren’t any of you helping me push this,” Mantel’s wheezily voice pointed out.
“You’re thinking about it too hard man,” Carbo shrugged.
Mantel groaned but continued to push the canoe out. It reached the water’s edge and Mantel dropped to catch his breath. “Just- just give me a second”
“Why-!” Magma raised his voice but back down. “...fine,” Magma scoffed. “But hurry up,” Carbo and Mantel looked at each other like they were confused. “What?
“Nothing nothing!” Carbo put his hands up. “Just you normally get mad at us when we take a break,”
“Do you want a break or not?” Magma galred.
“Shhh, “ Mantle elbowed Carbo in his shin.
“Hey-,” Carbo reacted. “I’m not wrong am I?”
“Well yeah but-,” Mantel agreed.
“I’m just saying since that Senkuu and Gen showed up, you’ve been different Magma,” Carbo pointed out, a bit aggressively.
Magma’s grip on his oar tightened. “Your point?”
“My point is you’ve changed man,” Carbo raised his voice.
“Ughh I don’t need this bullshit,” Magma clicked his tongue
“Oh what? Am I making you mad?” Carbo scoffed.
Magma raised his hand to hit Carbo but paused. He closed his hand and instead just took Carbo’s oar from him.”I don’t need your shit. I can do it myself,”
Magma pushed the canoe out onto the water and got it. His blood was still boiling but Mgam tried his best to calmly row out to the fishing spot. Magma looked at the empty buckets in front of him.
I don’t need their help. I can do this on my own.
“And you call yourself a man.”
“My point is you’ve changed man,”
Magma clicked his tongue, clenching his fist with his nails digging into the skin of his palm. He didn’t need his fathers voice in his head telling him shit. Magma placed his bait on his line and threw it out to the open ocean. Maybe it was too hard but Magma didn’t care at the moment. All the anger bottled up in him and then just having to wait for a fish to bite. It was starting to get on his nerves.
.
.
.
Time went on and on but still no fish were biting. Magma swore he was about to break his fishing line.
Bopb
Magma looked out and saw the line being pulled.
“BWAHA! Finally!” Magma laughed as he pulled up his line. The fish flew out of the water and in his face. Magma caught the rope and looked at the fish staring back at him. The damn thing was smaller than his hand. Magma unhooked the fish and threw it in the bucket next to him. Magma didn’t say a thing as he reached for the axe on his side.
“Damn fish!” Magma pulled out his axe and jumped into the water.
.
.
.
Magma blew the bit of wet hair out of his face only to blop back on his face.
“Son of a-,” Magma started to say.
“Oh Magma chan~,” A voice sang.
Magam stopped to look over and see Gen and Suika there to greet him.
“There you are,” Suika hummed. “Carbo and Mantel said you went off on your own,”
“Tch didn’t need them,” Magma scoffed.
“Huh? Didn't I need them?” Suika repeated.
“They’d only get in my way. Besides I got everything I needed to get,” Magma held up the bucket.
“Oh… I guess so. That’s a lot. I’m sure Francois will appreciate it,”
“Oh Magma chan~,” Gen sang when he saw Magma coming into the village.
Magam stopped and looked up at him and Sukia.
“There you are,” Suika hummed. “Carbo and Mantel said you went off on your own,”
“Tch didn’t need them,” Magma scoffed.
Gen raised an eyebrow at that.
Didn’t need them huh?
“Huh? Didn't I need them?” Suika repeated.
“They’d only get in my way. Besides I got everything I needed to get,” Magma held up the bucket.
“Oh… I guess so. That’s a lot. I’m sure Francois will appreciate it,” Suika offered to help Magma with the bucket.
“Yeah yeah here,” Magam tried handing one of the buckets to Suika.
“Ohh woah!” Suiak cried, trying to keep arms up to hold the ebucket.
“Do you need help with that Suika chan?” Gen asked.
“Hmh? Oh no no,” Suika forced a smile holding up the back. “Suika can be useful,” Suika started to walk.
Gen and Magma walked with Suika back to Francois's area.
“H-here,” Suika reached the bucket up to francois.
“Aww thank you master Suika,” Franocis smiled, taking the bucket.
They reached their arms out to take The other 2 buckets Magma was holding. Magma only handed one thought.
“I can cook these on my own,” Magma glanced away.
“If you say so master Magma,” Francois bowed. “Thank you,”
“Oh Francois, can I help?” Suika asked.
“Aren’t you tired, master Suika?” Francois asked.
“Nope!” Suika beamed.
“If you say so but don’t push yourself too much,” Gen hummed.
“In that case, I’d love to have your help master Suika,” Francois accepted. “I’ll call you all when were done,”
“Thank you Francois chan,” Gen hummed.
Gen took Magma’s free hand and started to walk back to the village.
“Sooooo Magma chan~ What are you planning?” Gen playfully hummed.
“I don’t know what you mean,” Magma replied.
“Oh? What cha got there then?” Gen looked at the buckets in Magma's hand.
“Just some fish I caught,”
“And why did you say you didn’t need Carbo or Mantel?” Gen questioned more
“I-,”
“Oiii mentalist!” Senkuu called.
Gen sighed “Talk about this later?” Gen asked, letting go of Magma’s hand.
Gen swore he saw Magma almost look sad when he let go.
.
.
.
Magma watched as the smoke from the fire smoked the fish. It was seasoned with simple salt from the sea but it was all he had.
“Magma chan?” Gen’s voice asked. “Dinner is ready…,” Gen stopped when he saw the small set up Magma had going on. “Ohhh this is what you’re planning,” Gen hummed, putting his hands together under his overcoat.
“Hah yeah,” Magma smiled a bit.
“Wanted to show off a huh?” Gen sang.
“Not really showing off. The damn fish is too small,” Magma groaned.
“Too small…?” Gen sat on the log next to Magma. “The thing looks as big as my head,” Gen pointed out.
Magma still looked dissatisfied. “Could have been better,” He said under his breath.
“Perpapes,” Gen hummed. “But you got how many fish again? I hardly think that’s nothing,”
Magma looked at Gen like he was confused about what Gen just said. There weren’t any words Magma couldn’t understand but the phrase itself threw him off.
“Surely the mighty Magma chan doesn’t need someone like me to tell you that,” Gen teased, leaning on Magma.
“Hmh, of course,” Magma snickered.
“Hought tay so~,” Gen backed off.
“Haha you’re right, Magician!” Magma grinned. “I don’t need to listen to damn Carbo. I’m still the strongest,”
“That's the Magma chan I know,” Gen smiled.
Magma kept cackling; he didn't notice Gen’s move against his side. Magma stopped when he felt a hand run through his hair. Magma turned his head to look at Gen, running his hand through Magma’s hair.
“Orry say, I just had to,” Gen hummed, and went to take away his hand but Magma held Gen’s hand there for a second. “Magma chan?”
“Just…. Leave it there for a second,” Magma told.
“Sure,” Gen ran his thumb over Magma’s neck.
