Chapter Text
Winter was terrible in London. it was the season Ringo hated the most. Especially this year. It was nice to have a white christmas for once, but once the snow turned into muddy slush it was just insufferable. He tried dodge the bigger piles of slush, but he had no luck. A kid trying to reach her morning bus nudged him and he stepped into a melting puddle of snow.
"shit!" he grunted, he could already feel the wetness seeping into his socks. The lady at the shop said these shoes were waterproof! what a great start to his morning...
Nontheless, he tried to remain postitive. John said he has a new song idea that they might like. He had a bit of a writer's block, and he couldn't come up with anything for weeks. So, Ringo was quite excited to hear it. Besides, he always loved being at the studio. The boys always had the best conversation there after recordings, it had an aura like no other place.
The weather was starting to really pick up when he arrived at Abby Road, chilly wind blowing in his face as he tried to cover it with his scarf. Luckily he was already at the studio. Stepping in, the soothing warthm huged his body, warming him up. As he was taking his coat off he felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Paul. "Ringo! Finally, though you got lost! You're never late!" Paul greeted him cheerfully. "i had to take a detour, the way I usually come has been blocked by the terrible weather." Ringo replied a little annoyed. As he took of his shoes he noticed just how soaked his socks were. "god, can't they make proper shoes in england of all places!" Luckily he came prepared with spare socks
Practice started as ususal, and while playing Ringo's bad mood started to go away. He loved nothing more than playing muic with his friends. And the fact they were in a succesful band together made it all better. A dream come true, although fans could be a little too much sometimes. The sound of their song filled the room. Ringo could feel the rhythm of his bass drum vibrating in his chest, the clash of the cymbal in syncron with the beat. It seemed the others were having fun too. George sang the lirycs with a huge grin on his face, and John did a little dance as always.
"phew- that was great, this was a great warm up!" Paul chuckled at the end of the song. "now we can get ready for the real deal" he smiled looking at john who immedietly went to get his laptop.
"Right, the song I've been working on.." he started, pulling up his notes "I've been thinking we could put more electonic elements in our songs, besides electric guitars. A more experimental and EDM vibe to go a different direction than ususal. Well, not neccerly edm, but a little more modern.." As john explained his ideas Ringo looked a little scaptical. They were a rock'n'roll band afterall. Their friends liked their new aproach on this 60's style. Should their really change it? Ringo looked at Paul who also didn't seem to fond of John's new idea.
"do you have a demo you can play or this is all you have so far?" Paul asked, the first to speak up after a brief moment silence "yeah! I've been up all night working on this! i think it sounds great!" John sounded super excited as he searched for the file. Ringo looked even more scaptical when he heard the song. It sounded alright, but it wasn't his style and it was way to different to what they usually made. He had to voice his opinion. "i can see the vision, and they are parts that i like but i feel it would sound just as good, if not even better in our usual style." Paul nodded in agreement. "Nah, i think it's fire" George chimed in "i dig it"
This was a rare but not unimeginable moment. The Beatles strongry disagreed on something. "well i mostly agree with Ringo. we have fans, we can't just make songs to ourselves. We have to think out what they would like". "but we have to expend ourselfves, we can't make the same music all our lives. we have to diversify" John argued back. He seemed a little hurt, becase he loved his idea.
"yeah, but i think change has to come naturally, and this seems a little forced. On the other hand, i cannot really play drum like that. the synthesizer plays faster than i ever could" John just scoffed at Ringo's comment "Then you won't be playing it." The drummer just seemed confused now "what about live shows then?" "You'll go off stage, you're just the drummer anyway"
Now that stung. Ringo would have been fine going of stage for a song if it wasn't for the last part "just a drummer?" he rasied his voice angrily. john looked sheepish, slowly approaching to calm down his agitated friend "Ringo, that's not how i mea-" "I do not care what you meant!" The drummer snapped back, stapping away. The reast of the team looked shocked. They weren't expecting this to escalate this quickly.
"Maybe if you had a decent father figure you weren't be an inconcidaret bitch sometimes" Ringo insulted back out of frustration, crossing a line for John "Now listen here know-it-all-!!" he looked like he was ready to figh ringo, George had to separate the two. "hey hey hey, calm down you two! Don't go staright to insulting each other!"
"But he started it!" Ringo growled back, ready to throw hands at John but he stapped back, trying to calm down. "I'm leaving, i can't deal with any of you right now! i can't deal with the weather, with London in general!! I'm leaving the whole ass country"
John was breathing heavily from being so angry, he shouted back at Ringo "Go on then! we won't miss you!" Ringo gleared at john before spinning around on his heel, barging out of the room. With a loud bang of the door he left the studio. Maybe it did't have such a good aura afterall.
