Sapnap didn’t like his soulmates getting hurt, but he did love patching them back up afterward. That was his favorite part of the entire soulmate thing, really. Being able to just brush his fingertips along a bruise or press a kiss to a paper cut and watch as it faded away from his fiancé’s skin like sugar dissolving. It was satisfying. It made his heart warm.
It helped that Quackity and Karl were the clumsiest people Sapnap had ever met. Karl could get a paper cut or splinter picking up just about anything. Quackity just seemed to enjoy tripping over himself and falling on his face. Either way, there was no shortage of soft moments for Sapnap to soothe his lovers, and he liked it that way.
A large axe injury was more than Sapnap was used to. He stared at Quackity apprehensively, unsure where to even start while Karl rubbed Quackity’s forearm gently.
“I’m going to fucking kill Fundy,” he finally landed on and Quackity scoffed.
“It was just a training accident, it’s fine. Don’t give him a hard time, this will heal in no time with you guys around.”
Larger injuries took longer to heal, even with a soulmate’s help. Sapnap watched as the blood weeping from Quackity’s wound slowed to a halt, the injury still looking angry but older. More like a few days old rather than just a few hours. Karl hummed softly, ignoring their bickering in favor of poking through their first aid kit, pulling out an alcohol wipe. Quackity’s face scrunched up at the smell and Sapnap walked over to sit by his side, offering a hand.
“You’re gonna be okay,” Karl soothed, giving Sapnap a pointed look that made him feel like the comfort was more aimed at him. “Sorry, this is gonna sting.”
“Sapnap, hold my hand,” Quackity said and Sapnap waved the hand he was already offering. “Oh.”
“You’re an idiot,” Sapnap said fondly, letting Quackity clench down on his hand. He was genuinely surprised at how much it hurt, far more used to Quackity’s strength before he threw himself so hard into PVP training. Still, Sapnap didn’t let it show on his face, just giving Quackity a smile.
With both soulmates touching him, his injury was already looking better, the edges lightening from red to a bruised pink. Still, it was far from healed, and Quackity winced as Karl started cleaning up the wound site, wiping away the excess blood and sanitizing the cut. Quackity turned away, pressing his face into Sapnap’s shoulder, and he nuzzled the top of his beanie.
“This fucking sucks,” Quackity hissed and Sapnap hummed sympathetically. He raised his free hand to card through his hair, a soothing repetitive movement.
“Almost done, sweetie,” Karl reassured and Quackity pushed further into Sapnap. “You guys really should be practicing with wooden axes. That’s how Sapnap teaches me PVP.”
“They’re not the same weight,” Quackity explained.
At the exact same time, Sapnap said, “Karl, you still injure yourself on wooden axes.”
Karl let out a dramatic gasp of offense, one that set Quackity off into laughter. “How dare you! This is why you kill things for me, you know.”
“Because you suck at fighting?”
“Because you’re mean to me! It’s how you make it up to me.” Karl pouted at him. He let his hands rest gently on Quackity’s arm and Sapnap could practically feel the soft healing pulse.
“You’re both so stupid,” Quackity cut in and Karl rolled his eyes at him. Quackity pulled away from Sapnap, leaned over, and kissed the look off of him. Sapnap smirked at the sight of Karl’s eyes fluttering shut, a pleased smile pulling the corners of his mouth up. Quackity seemed more smug than anything but equally happy, reaching up with his uninjured arm to cup Karl’s cheek with his hand.
Sapnap sat back, fidgeting with his hands in his lap for a moment before reaching up to straighten out Quackity’s feathers instead. He was certainly too distracted with kissing Karl to protest, his wings giving a surprised twitch before relaxing. They were meager but pretty things, golden yellow feathers that gleamed in the light. Quackity had a hard time reaching them, so Sapnap enjoyed preening his feathers for him, forcing them to lay straight, and wiggling out loose ones.
“Thank you,” Quackity murmured before Karl dragged him back in for another kiss. His wings snapped out straight. Sapnap snickered and rubbed between his shoulder blades.
“You’re welcome, baby.” He waited until Quackity’s wings relaxed then resumed cleaning them up, smiling at the familiar feeling. Sapnap never thought much about the texture of feathers before he met Quackity but now, it was one of his favorites to touch. It reminded him of fur but stiffer, thin enough for him to feel the bone structure underneath them. Karl thought the texture was uncomfortable, usually shying away from preening them, and Quackity seemed to share that opinion from how often he apologized to Sapnap after he preened them.
Sapnap didn’t mind though. Anything he could do for his fiancés, he enjoyed it. Just seeing them comfortable was enough to make his day. He pulled back once there wasn’t anything else he could do for the wings, taking in the sight of Karl pressing kisses across Quackity’s cheeks. Quackity was quickly turning bright red, trying to stifle high-pitched giggles and failing badly enough that he sounded more like he was just squeaking. Karl seemed delighted with the sounds, eyes sparkling with every squeaky laugh.
His eyes shifted back to meet Sapnap’s, raising an eyebrow with a smirk. Sapnap smiled fondly, lifting his own in response, and Karl leaned into Quackity’s personal space to murmur something to him. Their fiancé blinked and turned back to look at Sapnap as well, putting on a mischievous grin. Sapnap’s eyes narrowed.
“What are you two up to?” he asked warily. Without answering, Quackity swung around and jumped up onto his lap, shoving him back against the couch. “Wh- hey, watch your arm!”
“It’s fine, don’t be a bitch,” Quackity said, pressing an obnoxiously loud kiss to his cheek.
“Yeah Sap, don’t be a bitch,” Karl agreed with a giggle. He clambered around to cuddle up Sapnap’s other side, burying his head in the junction between his neck and his jaw. He kissed the skin there softly. “Now sit still and take it.”
Sapnap choked down a laugh. “Take what, Karl?”
“Oh, you know,” Quackity answered for him, giving a suggestive waggle of his eyebrows. Sapnap spluttered, an amused grin dragging up the corners of his mouth. “It.”
“Oh, baby, you know I’ll always take it if it’s from you,” Sapnap replied with a purr and a joking wink, causing Quackity to burst into laughter.
“You’re both terrible,” Karl muttered against Sapnap’s neck.
“You literally started it,” Quackity said. Karl whacked him up the side of the head and he let out a yelp. “Hey! Injured man over here!”
“Yeah, and I’m about to make it worse if you don’t shut up.”
Sapnap sat back against the couch as the two started yelling at each other, shaking his head as if he wasn’t just as bad. He let his head fall back, staring up at Quackity perched in his lap, and let it fall to the side so he could take in Karl as well. His chest felt warm with contentment. There was nowhere he would rather be than here, watching his fiancés argue over something meaningless. He wanted to be with them forever.
