"What can I get you, sweetheart?" Harry asked with a crooked grin, the way he did everyday when the blond stepped up to the counter. Originally it had been a joke, teasing and light. But then he'd seen Draco Malfoy flush a delicate shade of pink and his mouth curve up at the corner and Harry decided then and there he was calling him that every single day he came in to get his morning caffeine fix.
Draco gave him a shy little smile, tucking his hair behind his ear, and Harry's heart trilled in his chest. "It seems like a good day for a mocha, doesn't it?"
Harry grinned at him, "Soy milk, no whip, dash of cinnamon?"
The other man nodded, grinning at Harry like he couldn't quite help it.
He turned around and started to make Draco's drink, and Draco spoke up, "Do you have any plans for Valentines this year?"
Harry shrugged a shoulder, "I'm taking Teddy to the park that afternoon, it's my day off."
"I know," Draco said. He glanced over sharply at him but before he could say anything, Draco continued, "No dates?"
Harry scoffed, pouring in the two shots of espresso before pouring in the steamed soy milk and chocolate, stirring as he poured. "Who'd want to date me?" he asked with a laugh that didn't sound quite as humor filled as he'd intended.
"I would."
He froze for a moment, replaying his words again and again, sure he'd misheard. Finally he turned and looked at Draco who was flushed but standing his ground. "Say that again."
"I would," he repeated, tipping his chin up proudly, daring Harry to argue.
"Yeah?" he breathed.
Draco nodded once.
He grinned, "I'd like that. I'd love to go on a valentines date with you."
Draco's posture softened, "It's a date."
"A date," Harry repeated, smiling wide enough that it made his cheeks hurt.
Draco leaned across the counter and pecked his cheek as he grabbed his drink, "See you tomorrow, Harry."
"See you tomorrow," he breathed.
He watched as Draco walked out the door, feeling hopeful and overwhelmingly excited.
