Work Text:

“Let me out of here, you stupid ghost, or I swear to the Master, I will!-”

“Don’t worry, master of Fire,” the ghost jeered back, cutting him off, “Morro just wants to talk to you, then we’ll let you go home.”

Kai watched as the ghost floated away, leaving him in the cage suspended high above the ground while his heart beat a million miles a minute with his anger fueling him. He immediately started to look around the room, trying to find any sort of identifier of where exactly he was.

‘If I can figure this out, then I can come back with the others and we can get Lloyd out of here.’

But before he could place where exactly he was, he was cut off by the sound of footsteps coming in and he had to fight back some of his anger when he saw Lloyd come towards him with Morro’s grin.

“What do you want?” He sneered as the cage was lowered down towards the hostile ghost.

“I’m willing to make you a deal,” Morro insisted before making direct eye contact with Kai, making his gut twist, “the sword for your beloved green ninja.”

“Well, you should have taken me when I was holding it, then.”

“Oh, Kai,” Kai winced when the voice sounded like Lloyd’s for a split second before returning to it’s roughness, “that’s not what I meant. You’re gonna go back to your friends and take it, bringing it back to me. In return, you can have your friend back.”

Kai swallowed. On one hand, he knew he couldn’t do it. That would guarantee him getting the realm crystal and releasing the Preeminent. On the other hand, he could save Lloyd. ‘I could bring Lloyd home.’

“Tick tock, Kai,” the ghost sneered before adding, “tell you what. This might convince you.”

Kai watched as Morro’s spirit left Lloyd’s body and as his hair turned blonde, he fell to the ground, shaking furiously while curling up into a ball on the floor.

“Come on,” Morro nudged Lloyd’s ribs harshly, making Kai’s stomach turn, “your brother wants to talk to you. He misses you.”

“Leave him alone!” Kai shouted, gripping the bars of the cage, trying to break the vengestone in vain.

But before Morro could say anything, Lloyd slowly lifted his head off the ground and looked up at Kai from the floor, his voice weak as he stuttered.

“Y-you have to get the sword for him, K-Kai,” Kai watched as it seemingly took all of his strength to swallow, “I-I’m sorry for giving it to you.”

Kai’s stomach twisted and he felt like he was going to be sick, but before he could say anything, he watched as one of Lloyd’s eyes closed in a quick wink.

‘He’s putting on an act to get me out of here.’ He realized as it finally clicked in his head where he was. “Ronan’s shop.’

“You’ve made your point, Morro! I’ll do it!”

Morro smiled as he went back into Lloyd’s body, the hair turning raven black once again before he turned to the hooded ghost that had approached Kai in the first place.

“Take him back to his friends, Bansha.”

‘We’ll get you out of here, Lloyd. Just hang in there a little bit longer.’ was Kai’s lost thought before everything went black again.
