For a brief moment, Elliot allowed himself a selfish feeling of hope. He could hope that maybe, just maybe, he had somehow escaped this realm. Maybe he had made it back home. And, for a fleeting moment, he let himself hold onto that hope as tight as he could.
That was until he spotted the building further behind, walls caved in and engulfed in flames. It was Builder Brothers’ Pizza. It was his pizzeria. The one he worked away in every single day of his goddamn life before he came here. It was practically his second home.
He was going to be sick.

“Yeah.” It comes out breathier than Will would have liked, but Mack nods and turns his attention back to the group.
