Work Text:

The gentle rocking of the waves, the sea smell and humidity everywhere.

Life in the alcor was pacefull, working hard while chatting with the rest of the crew, each one had an assigned position eventhough everyone could do anything.

Kazuha always stayed for a bit with captain Beidou when the rest of the crew went to their cabins, they both enjoyed their little talks, he always felt grateful for her to welcome him on her crew.

In the meantime, you waited for him to come back and rest in your shared bed, he wouldn’t take long knowing he secretly enjoyed being the first one to fall asleep.

You used to read a book while you waited for him, a little light bulb lighting up the room. Kazuha always bought you some of them where the ship was anchored, if it wasn’t him, It was you the one who bought them.

It started to be a routine, just like today, you’d go into the cabin when it was dark outside and you’d read for a bit, not too late after that, Kazuha'd came in taking advantage of you being busy to rest his head on your shoulder or on your lap.

When Kazuha laid his head on your shoulder, he’d  occasionally read a page of your book, wondering about the or some detail that caught his attention, he’ll eventually feel sleepy, humming contently while lapsing into a deep sleep.

If he leans on your lap, he will curl up to you, you gently resting the book on his head to have a free hand and be able to caress his hair, and he’d fall asleep immediately. Kazuha really enjoyed when you caressed his scalp, the time when you untied his hair and combed it with your fingers, braided it or just twist it between your fingers.

He’d only wake up in the brief moment that you put the book on the bedside table and turn off the light, lying next to him meanwhile he curls up to you again.

Kazuha was a gentle man, a free and lonely soul, a leaf moved by the wind even after falling in love with you.

During the first few years you were together, he went wandering, with breaks in between when he came back so you could still see each other, while you stayed on dry land, taking care of your house and your work. You both had your lives and even though you loved each other madly, it wasn’t as easy as escaping from reality like two crazy teenagers, you both had your responsibilities and ways of seeing life.

Sometimes, a few months passed when kazuha couldn’t come home, compensating it with love promises in letters, sealing them when he returned. You couldn’t deprive him of his freedom, even when he stayed much longer with you between trips, he needed to travel to fulfill his purpose of life, it was his nature after all.

Of course you missed him, of course he missed you, but it wasn’t enough to break your bond.

One day, Kazuha offered to take you to the alcor with him.

Although you needed time to think about it, you decided it was time for a fresh start in your life and try new things,  that’s how you went in the alcor with him a couple of times.

The sea wasn’t exactly your talent, but you did whatever Beidou asked and everything that was in your hand, from helping the crew untie the knots of the cape to stay with her after midnight with a drink in hand and talk about life, you two or with Kazuha.

Before he asked you, Kazuha asked Beidou if you could go to the alcor with them, he explained her your situation and beidou understood it perfectly. When Kazuha explained with bright eyes full of love how you had so many things to contribute to the crew, even someone without the manageable Beidou’s personality would have gladly accepted.

After the presentation days, on a night when the crew stayed late into the night to chat for a bit and drink, a tipsy woman told you how before you were there, Kazuha stayed in the crow’s nest after the sunset with paper and pencil, writing the chessy romantic love letters he sent you when he was traveling. Both embarrassed and laughing with the rest of the crew, creating memories as warm and homey as those.

You were grateful to have been able to integrate so well, thanks to Kazuha and the crew for being so kind, they were like a small family after all.

Back to reality, the cabin door opened, Kazuha coming in and closing the door behind him, quickly approaching the bed.

kazuha leaned in to peck your lips, taking off his clothes and looking in his drawer for his night clothes, quickly crawling in bed after that, resting his head against your shoulder as soon he was next to you

He stayed like this, occasionally reading a page of your book, to tired to even ask what it was about, he nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck, humming contently felling your warmth.

You giggled, feeling his hot breath in your neck, making It hard to concentrate anymore.

He always did that whenever he was tired or upset about something, he would snuggle up on you and nuzzle his face into the crook of your neck. One day, you asked why he always did this, and Kazuha replied it makes him feel safe and calm. So whenever he did that, you’d feel something warm grow on your chest.

Trying to move as little as possible, knowing that Kazuha was about to fall asleep, you left the book on the bedside table and turned off the lamp, you taped his shoulder, gently laying Kazuha down and him again resting his head between your neck and shoulder. Meanwhile you surrounded his head with your arms hugging him and putting him closer, resting your head on his leaving you completely relaxed.

Tucking you both under the covers, gently stroking his soft hair, untangling any knot with your fingers, tidying up his shoulder-length hair, while your other hand drawn circles on his shoulder, noticing how his breathing became more calm.

Kazuha pecked on your collarbones, not changing his position, leaving his lips pressed on your skin, and you felt how he smiled against your skin right after that, making your heart feel warm.

After a few minutes, the hot breath in your collarbones becamed completely steady, letting you know that Kazuha had fallen asleep, you settled into bed without waking him up, just enjoying his warmth, falling asleep shortly thereafter.

You felt fortunate to have a relationship as beautiful yours, you felt happy to have found the love of your life, grateful to be able to share your life with the most precious person you could have seen.

Although you didn't know how much longer you’d stay in the alcor, the sea smell and the gentle rocking of the waves soon became your home, but reality is, your home was wherever Kazuha was.
