Work Text:
Hiding herself, her real self, hiding her love for Carol, had once tormented Rachel Dawson, but now as she relaxed, head resting on a pillow in Carol’s lap, Carol’s fingers sliding through tangle brunette curls, she begins to think keeping a secret is worth it when she gets to rest with Carol to take care of her.
Carol had dragged her home the first day she arrived in Aidensfield, clearly about to move into Rob’s rooms at the police house. They had not really got on back then, Carol was jealous of Rachel’s past with Rob, but now, after a night where they had fought viciously, they were happy together.
Carol smirks a year later when Rachel comes home to Aidensfield, Joe is long gone, as is Rob, but despite being back in uniform, Rachel is now in charge of the station in Aidensfield, unashamed as she walks back into people’s lives, her smile warm as she greets Carol in public.
They will settle together later, Carol in Rachel’s lap and Rachel’s hand tucked into Carol’s hair, pulling her closer for a soft yet possessive kiss.
“No more secrets, at last…”
