The lights are bright when Rachel’s eyes flicker open and she winces softly, shielding her eyes, smiling softly at the sound of Carol’s voice.
“How are you feeling?”
“Too bright…”
Carol laughs, moving to close the curtains and settling beside Rachel on the bed, stroking hair from Rachel’s eyes, kissing her tenderly.
“I did warn you… Joe’s something of a pro at drinking people under the table.”
“It’s not every day we get married.”
“No, that’s true.”
Carol admitted, smiling when Rachel murmurs a second question.
“Just rest, I’ll be home in a few…”
She knows she has to go, check in on her patients, but at least now she comes home to Rachel.
