Chapter Text
Thor saw as Thanos picked up Loki by the neck. He saw as his brother struggled to escape Thanos' grasp. Saw as he struggled to breath.
Then his vision started to blur, the Statesman disepearing, being replaced by a grassy cliff. Thor recognized it immideatly. This is the place he saw his father die. He looked to his side, finding Loki standing there, looking at the water before them.
"B...Brother" a broken whisper came from Thor. Loki turned to face him, with a soft smile on his face. "Why...?" Thor asked desperately, tears brimming in his eyes. Loki touched his shoulders, making Thor look him in the eyes, before he pulled him into a long tight hug. "I love you, brother." He whispered, tears gathering in his eyes as well. "P-Please don't... don't leave me. I need you." Thor whispered, his voice shaky and his cheeks wet with tears. "I'm sorry Thor, I have to go." Loki said, still holding onto Thor thightly.
Thor tightened his hold on his little brother. "Why did you..." Thor trailed off. Loki brought his hand up to brush through Thor's short hair. "It's either you or me, and I can't let it be you." Loki whispered, his voice breaking as a few tears slid down his face. "You're needed here," Loki continued, "Asgard needs its king, they need you, not me.". Loki held Thor as he silently sobbed, knowing that there was no way to save his brother from the mad titan. "Nobody really needs me." Loki whispered, sniffling.
There was a long break, the only sound being Thor's quiet sobs. Then Thor spoke up, "I need you" Thor's voice was barely audible, but Loki heard it just fine. Loki pulled away from the hug, enough so that he could take Thor's head in his hands. He smiled sadly at his brother, and wiped his tears. "You will be fine." He said, "I know you will. You're the strongest person I know. You will be fine." he repeated. Thor shook his head softly, looking at Loki, tears in both their eyes. "I won't" he whispered, "The only reason I haven't broken down is because you're here."
Their surroundings started getting blurry, and Thor could feel the cold metal hold him down. "I love you, brother." He said, looking desperately at Loki. Loki who only smiled and said "I love you too, brother."
Then they were back on the Statesman. Thor held down by metal, mouth covered stopping any noise, and Loki trashing his legs around, being strangled by the hands of Thanos. Then he stopped fighting, and all Thor could think about, when his body hit the ground, was his last words.
"I love you too, brother."
